The moment Yvonne and Captain Desmo reached the training grounds, their presence was so strong that everyone had spotted them.
In the arms of the one they called names like 'Evil incarnate' and 'Neo's spawn' was a child who looked like an angel.
The white dress and her pale countenance from earlier only strengthened their conviction that the little girl in their Captain's arms was an adorable little angel.
'Will they stop staring!?' Yvonne grumbled inwardly but on the outside, she had a gentle smile on her face.
Though she was used to being at the center of everyone's attention from a young age in her previous world, in this one, she became accustomed to being in her own little world inside their estate.
Therefore, she felt awkward when out of nowhere so many young men and even teenage boys were staring at her.
Feeling her current predicament, Captain Desmo glared at the men who quickly looked down.
'Not bad!' Yvonne was surprised that with just one look he had managed to get them to look away.
"Captain, did you snatch away a child now? That is against the law!" An exasperated voice was heard coming from behind.
As she was seated in the arms of her trainer, it was easier for Yvonne to just turn around and glance at who had spoken.
With one swift move, her eyes fell on a young man, much smaller in size when compared to the Captain.
It seemed that he was jogging in their direction at full speed to reach them.
Out of breath and huffing, the young man hunched forward as he tried to catch his breath.
"Stop talking nonsense, O'Reil." Captain Desmo scoffed at the man who was now standing upright once again.
The man named O'Reil, Yvonne had heard about him before from her elder brother.
'This weak-looking man who is panting after jogging a little is the best archer in the Red Scorpion Knights!?' The little girl was perplexed at this discovery.
Just like Captain Desmo was the best warrior in the cavalry, knights who fought on horseback, in the Red Scorpion Knights.
Deputy Emory O'Reil was the best archer of the Red Scorpion Knights.
This man was also just one rank below Captain Desmo in the hierarchy that was followed here.
Rumors about him said that he could shoot down a bird which was still in flight, a long distance away from him.
His eyesight was also something which was tremendous and worthy of being envied.
She had heard many such about him from Howard who wished to become proficient in all skills related to being a Knight.
To meet him was something that she had not expected but she was glad that she had seen him here today.
She had been under the impression that just like Captain Desmo, Deputy O'Reil would also be some muscular man with a huge body.
However, contrary to her expectations, he was of average build and even looked slightly malnourished and delicate, considering how he was tired after a short jog.
"So who is she, Captain?" Another knight inquired while Deputy O'Reil took long breaths to calm his ragged breathing.
While she was gawking at the lean man, Yvonne found many eyes on her once again and sighed as she could not do anything but bear with it for now.
"She's my-" Captain Desmo began to introduce her but stopped abruptly when he felt a strong pinch on his neck where the little girl had been holding onto him.
Frowning, he glanced down at her and found that she was glaring back at him with a surprised expression on her face.
'What were you about to say just now!?' Her thoughts were clear on her face and he realized his mistake as well.
Therefore, Captain Desmo swallowed the words, 'my pupil' and changed it to something more appropriate.
"She's my old's friend's daughter. She wished to see the Knights during training so I brought her here." He introduced the child using a different version of her identity which she was much more comfortable with.
No one here was still aware of the Captain's secret classes with the daughter of the St. Claire family.
Therefore, they did not suspect anything that he had just said and believed it without a second thought.
"Isn't that right?" Desmo glanced down at the girl and asked for her confirmation to which she gave a willing nod.
Only after seeing her nod without any traces of fear appearing on her face did Deputy O'Reil believe that she had truly not been snatched away from her parents and brought here secretly.
"Greetings, Sirs! Please forgive me if I have disturbed you during your training hours." Yvonne shouted out her greetings so that everyone around might be able to hear her.
A cute little child being so considerate towards them made their hearts melt as they all shook their heads and waved their hands to object to what she had just said.
"You did not disturb anyone. They were being lazy when I wasn't around anyway." Captain Desmo scoffed when he saw her pretending to be cute when in reality, she had a vicious tongue while she trained with him each day.
Hearing their Captain deriding them before the cute little girl, many of them had sour looks on their faces but when they heard a soft chuckle coming from the same girl, their dissatisfaction faded away.
'An angel in the arms of a demon.' Most of them had the same thought while they gazed at her adorable behavior.
"So you are here, you bastard!" A loud shout broke the sweet environment around them.
Everyone turned their eyes in the direction of the sneering voice only to find a tall and muscular man taking long strides towards their position.
There was a murderous look in his eyes which made even the Deputy shudder after noticing it.
They were worried that this man might scare the child; however, they were shocked by what happened next.
"Papa!" The little girl screamed in surprise and excitement when the man was close enough.
In the next moment, she jumped out of the Captain's arms and into the arms of the other man who had just arrived.
"Vonna, are you alright?" The new man, Earl Rutherford St. Claire inquired as he held her tight in his arms and caressed her cheek.
The scary aura from earlier had faded away without a trace and there was only a gentle and doting look on his face right now.
One among the knights had recognized the newcomer and yelled out his name.
"Greetings, Earl St. Claire!" His voice awakened the others from their daze as they too followed suit and greeted him as well.
So the angel that they had met today was none other than the Earl's only daughter?
This made them wonder how their Captain had met this man as he had called the girl as his friend's daughter.
"Why did you bring her here, Des? You know she needs to rest." Rutherford scowled at his old friend for having disturbed his child's resting time.
Earlier, he had come over to check on the child but found that the room was empty and she was nowhere to be found.
This sent the entire Ducal household into a panic as everyone began searching for her.
He had seen the open window and then found the training grounds which made him follow this path and just as he had suspected, Desmo had brought her here.
"She wanted to visit the training grounds, Ford." Desmo shrugged at his friend before looking at his pupil who had escaped from his arms and was now clinging to her father.
The smile he gave the child made her shudder as she knew the meaning hidden behind it.
'Agree with me or I will make you train even more than before.'
The warning was grasped in an instant and the little girl nodded her head in agreement.
"I wanted to come here, Papa. Did Vonny do something wrong?" She tugged her father's shirt and whispered to him.
Not only did this action melt her father's heart effortlessly but it had also done the same to the rest of those witnessing it.
"No, my Vonna did nothing wrong." He assured her and raised his brows when all the knights nodded their heads, agreeing with his answer.
"Vonny!" Another loud cry was heard followed by the sounds of rapid footsteps coming their way.
"Big Brothers?" Yvonne was thoroughly surprised this time to see those who had appeared out of nowhere.
Her brothers, Howard and Taylor, were supposed to be in the Academy today but right now, she was watching them running towards her at full speed.
Looking at the face of the young boy with red hair dashing towards her, the little girl's wide eyes once again began to brim with tears.
'I thought that I couldn't cry anymore.' She sniffled as she had done more than enough crying last night but it looked like she still had a few tears left.
The thought that this same young boy would die in the plague and Howard's best friend would be snatched away from him made her heart ache for both of them.
Rutherford noticed the change in her aura as it turned dull once again so he let her down on the ground.
When the boys approached her, this time, he did not object as Howard and Taylor both hugged her at the same time.
In the embrace of her brothers, she broke down once again and started crying her heart out.
