Chapter 44 044: Family Affair V: Cusp Of Civil War

Cole felt his heart skip a beat, this was important and while he was ready itching to get back into the game he had to deal with this. He sat down, he had no idea what Caliber of news Morgan had for him, but regardless he was hoping his suspicions were wrong.

[Based on the timeline of both Master Jackson Master Jason's demise, I realized they had made a call to Micah, a conference call sorts which explains the conversation they had about meeting up. Micah never met up with them, however he was a street away from where they were first attacked. And while they did try to escape, they were cornered soon after, and GPS history shows that even during the chase he had followed close enough to have lent a hand…. Though I do believe that piece of Information is pretty much inconclusive.

Your brothers were led to an abandoned supermarket, Master Micah's father, brother and sister showed up here, after having been here for close to an hour already. There are now cameras within the area, we only have GPS and their Neural dome connected to the family's network to tell this story.

Cole squeezed his hand into a fist, try as he might not to jump into any sort of conclusion he couldn't help thinking that perhaps Micah and his branch of his family had something to do with the deaths of his brothers.

"Morgan send this Information to my grandfather's and father's network. Then if it's possible, I need you to keep constant watch on the network, once you discover anything about Micah and his family, let me know immediately."

Cole felt tempted to just log in and keep playing through the second floor, but it would not be viable to just doing such a discovery on his family and it be there to see the aftermath of it all, so he waited.

There were too many things going through his mind that he truly couldn't make heads or tails of. Besides while no one would at first think to completely retrace the steps his brothers took the day they were killed, he didn't think Micah would be so stupid as to leave such an obvious flaw in his plan or whatever plan he and his family had cooked up.

Now on any given day it would be hard to find cracks in the armor that's the Night family, but it is there. And Micah's father and Cole's Father while brothers, had different mothers and have had a rivalry since they were young. The caveat to it all was that Micah's father was the son of the 'official' wife and Cole's father the son of the mistress that had somehow slithered her way into the family from being a measly assistant.

Cole was not one to judge, and while he was testy on the subject of infidelity, he knew the 'official' wife had been involved in something that was sort of a taboo that made her fall out of favor with his grandfather. And that was the method his grandma had used to get her way and become a part of the family, holding enough power and even private assets that rivaled that of his grandfather.

She was known as the Matriarch, ruthless, dangerous, calculative, yet still and above all else a devoted wife, a loving mother and a doting grandmother that absolutely adores her grandbabies. Her body couldn't handle the grief so she had locked herself away from the rest of the family, but it had still been her who had sent the message to Morgan…. Either way, this was turning out to look more and more like an internal problem rather than meddling from outside.

[Incoming Call From Baba]

"Hello grandfather, did you get my message?" Cole asked, immediately going straight to the point as he spoke to his grandfather.

"I got your message boy, good job….. but this evidence that you have presented before me is extremely unsettling. If it is as you suspect and Micah and his family has something to do with this then….. I have failed both my sons as a father, and failed your grandmother as a husband, and your mother as a father in law.

A situation like this requires a delicate touch, and even I won't lie to you that I am stumped about what's the next step to take. What I have been trying to avoid for the better part of 4 decades has come to fruition, in the end it seems there's nothing I can do to stop my family from tearing itself apart. You know, an empire might rise up from the ashes if it attacked by enemies, there's always a second chance to do better, but…"

"An empire fall faster and will never rise again when it is divided against itself. The Bible says a man's worst enemy is from his own household…. I'm sorry Baba." Cole knew this was a lot to carry, it was hard enough for him, he could not imagine how it was for his grandfather.

Perhaps that is why he had called him Baba after such a long time of not using that name, heck the last time Cole had called him that was when he was 12 and his Grandfather had given him a good beating/ disciplinary action for being an overly pompous prick with a spoilt attitude.

"I'll give you a week Baba to figure out what to do. I would prefer we solve this amicably, but if they are responsible they will have to pay for what they've done. If they're in cahoots with the Unagi and the Bragas you need to have them confess and punished according to the law…. That is the only love, loyalty or Mercy I will show." Cole said.

"Are you threatening me boy?" his grandfather asked, his voice taking on am edge that even through the call, Cold felt chills run up and down his spine.

"Threaten? I don't make threats Baba, you know this. I know when it comes to your children especially Uncle Julius you tend to get weak in the knees because you feel guilty towards him. I understand that, and frankly speaking if he's innocent he can have the bloody Night family and all it's assets. I can now stand on my own two feet and even achieve more alone than I can ever do with the family, I just have to take my branch of it with me, they can have everything else.

But like I said, I do not make threats. What I can really give to you is a promise. You know where they are or at least a way to find them. Give my brothers the justice they deserve and this will remain between the both of us. However if after a week Baba all is still silent, then Obasan will find out and it will be a full out war between both factions.

I will be real with you, they might be innocent, and if that's the case finding that out with some concrete evidence and someone who's heart I can eat out would sweep this all under the rug. But if as it turns out Micah and his family are responsible then someone better be getting life in prison with absolutely no hope of parole. You throw whoever you decide to make a scapegoat in the deepest darkest hole possible. And you will satisfy the bloodlust of the other half of your family.

But if you do nothing…. I don't mind having to earn your hate Baba, heck even your hatred would not shake me. I am the only person in this family to have gone up against you, I'm also the only one of my half of the family who you actually truly give a shit about, so at least I can be the person to tell you the truth straight to your face.

I respect you, I respect what you have built, and I honor you for always wanting to put family first. It is why I came to you first, but since it's gotten to this stage let's be fucking frank with each other. The way the Matriarch came into this family, playing on your weakness and taking advantage of you when you were at your lowest is wrong.

She took power and the happy family you had built she tore it all apart, so much so that your only daughter hasn't spoken a single word to you in 20 years. I can't imagine what that's like, and since the Matriarch's inserting herself into your family and taking power had led to the first lady to her death, I envision there's no love lost between you and grandmother, even though I know, we all know she absolutely loves you to death.

I've spent enough time away from this family to be able to call a spade a spade. It was because of this reason father worked twice as hard to earn your approval and cement himself as an asset you could not do without. In fact he became so important you could not even give your first born son, your true son the position that was rightfully his.

And this you did to keep the peace. Because you knew Micah's Dad was bitter and giving him power as the heir would mean he takes out all of his frustration on the Matriarch and her rabble of illegitimate filth. But all my Dad cared about what the teachings you had given him…. Family is forever. It is something my brothers and I all believe and try to embody. But they are dead, and family might be responsible.

I don't give a shit about your history and your mistakes! My brothers are dead! Jackson's children will now grow up without a father in their lives. I know this is hard for you, but you owe it to those kids to make sure their father's killer or killers doesn't go free or share a table with them. So I will repeat myself…. Find me a scape goat…. Or you will have civil war, and once everything is said and done I will leave and I will take my brothers kids with me. And we will never come back…. You alone will be left to pick up the pieces….
