"Damn it!" Boreas cursed.
He had wanted to take Mara alive so that he and his allies could pump her for information since she was a leader for a cult worshiping a Primeval Demon. There was no telling what else they were planning and when they would become a major threat to Borealia again.
Unfortunately, that was now impossible. Despite her body having been healed to pristine condition by the strongest medicine in the world, her soul was already gone. The item she had used to finish herself with instantly sent her soul to the demon she had pledged herself to.
"I'm sorry, I should have foreseen this possibility. She was just so prideful that I never thought she would take her own life." Alexandra said, wearing a bitter expression.
"No, it's not your fault, Alex. I should have acted faster. If only I hadn't hesitated."
Boreas looked towards the spine that Mara had used to kill herself with a look of disdain and trepidation.
Having reached level ninety-six, he had encountered his fair share of powerful entities since coming to Mirrion, but the power he could feel lingering within the blue spine was beyond anything else he had ever come across.
'And that is only a small part of it. How strong is a Primeval Demon? I've heard about them before, but I feel like even the myths around them don't come close to how dangerous they are in reality.' Boreas thought, feeling a cold sweat forming on his brow.
There were all manner of whispers surrounding what were known as the strongest of demons, but not any concrete information. As far as anyone knew, a Primeval Demon had not fully manifested on Mirrion.
'Now, let's see what else she had on her.'
Getting back to the matter at hand, Boreas began searching Mara body.
On her person and in a few magic bags, she had all manner of items. Some that were incredibly rare, others that were mundane, and many that were unbelievably disturbing ritual items for contacting or summoning demons.
"Doesn't look appear that she was carrying any documents with important information on them. If there was anything like that, it was probably in her item box and is now gone for good."
The only things that Boreas found that might provide any leads were around a dozen sending stones used for long range communication. With the right magic, skills, or items it would be possible to track where the signal was going. So with any luck, they would lead to her collaborators.
"I understand that you're frustrated, but don't let it eat away at you. We may not have achieved everything that we wanted, but we eliminated a major threat today." Alexandra said, attempting to console her longtime friend. "As for information, there were other cultist involved in the attack. I'm sure that some of them have been captured.
We may not be able to learn everything we were hoping to, but it should be enough to at least set them back for some time."
"Yeah, you're right. I've got to stay positive. If I go home with a dour look on my face, I'll make Safir cry." Boreas said, thinking about his young daughter to improve his mood. Your adventure awaits on m,v le,mpyr
After he, Alexandra, and her Flawless Clone had collected all of the relative items and completed a thorough search of the area, the three of them went their separate ways.
Boreas took off to return to Borealia to server as a protector for his family and home, while Alexandra and her Flawless Clone headed off to continue investigating the cult worshiping the Blue Primeval Demon.
