Chapter 115: Tragedy of Demonic Continent (4/4), Nigh Arrival of Demon Lord
"I bet that those two will die within the next five minutes," Aleron uttered.
[Gamble Accepted]
Aleron looked at the quest window and smiled, "Two thousand gacha points? Nice."
"Yue, let's go," Aleron snapped his finger and the flying ship teleported, appearing 10 kilometers from Baratos and Kalaka.
Since he could observe where they were going with his Monitor Dome, he teleported 10 kilometers away on their way.
"Those two will be here soon," Aleron said with narrowed eyes. "They are Demon Kings at the median stage of Primeval rank. Two pitch-black marks. I don't even want to read their memories."
Yueha stood in front of Aleron and made a cute curtsey bow while smiling, "Leave them to me, Master. But I want a reward after that, please~"
Yueha winked and added, "You know what I mean, my dear master~"
Aleron raised his eyebrows and decided to become bold as he pulled Yeuha towards him after grabbing her waist and dashingly smiled before kissing her, "Whatever you want, sweetheart."
Yueha's face turned red and her heart raced, 'Master is getting bolder...'
But suddenly, her expression changed and she vanished before appearing ten meters away from the ship's front while a dark violet energy orb shot at them from a kilometer away. Yueha's eyes gleamed frostily as her spirit energy weaved into a frost blade that cleanly sliced the incoming orb as it froze and shattered without issuing a peep.
Meanwhile, Aleron saw Baratos and Kalaka a kilometer away and waved his hand, creating a huge spherical barrier to trap them because when Yueha sliced that attack, the duo's expression immediately turned grim.
They realized that the opponent wasn't a weakling.
"Pieces of trash, come here and die," Yueha coldly uttered, pissed as she was interrupted at a good timing with her master.
"Yue, they are two, so be careful. I don't want you to get hurt."
Yueha's mood improved immediately as she turned to Aleron and broadly smiled, "As you wish, master."
"Wait, we can talk," Kalaka immediately said as he appeared fifty meters away from Yueha. "Talk?" Yueha's lips twitched. "You want to talk your way out of this?..."
It was comedic to hear that as if she heard a dark joke.
*Boom!*
Baratos attacked the barrier Aleron created, but seeing that his full-powered attack didn't even nudge the barrier's energy reading, let alone put a crack on it, his face turned ashen. He flew and arrived beside Kalaka, his gaze on Yueha and Aleron, "Who are you?"
'We have to go all out with one attack and hurt her or it will be difficult for us to stay alive,' Kalaka relayed to Baratos using soul sense.
'Barrier is impossible to break,' Baratos' heavy thought filled with helplessness relayed to Kalaka, stunning him.
'What? What do you mean? That guy is just Peak Legendary. How can his barrier make you feel like that?'
'I don't know. He must have used an artifact or something.'
"Who are we?" Yueha raised her eyebrows at the question of the brute demon and snorted as she crossed her arms and uttered, "You are in the presence of this World's King! His decree is to give you a painful death, and you will receive it at my hands."
"So you are the one who killed the platoons that I sent," Baratos said while gritting his teeth, his anger boiling and his aura rising. "Since you don't plan to let us go, then so be it!"
*Zroom!*
Baratos shot at Yueha while enveloping himself in a demonic crimson aura with sharp patterns around him, his fist empowered with some kind of skill, aimed at Yueha's head.
Yueha's eyes barely flickered slightly before Aleron saw a beautiful icy arc as a sword appeared in Yueha's hand and cleanly sliced Baratos' arm from his shoulder, freezing it and shattering it as he couldn't even strike his attack.
Netherworld was not a planet, but more like a plane, a dimension. There were multiple Netherworlds and they were the origin of demons.
Demons usually occupy planets by wandering outer space and establishing a demonic source
from the Netherworld to make it suitable for demons to live and thrive, much like planet
Ardentia's past.
A Demon Lord had arrived with his army to rule this planet occupied by humans and beastfolks, summoning Akumas from Netherworld for more chaos and to rule the population. Just like that, Demon Lord Narazar wanted to do the same. He was a Warlord already and an early-stage Ascension-rank powerhouse with a planet under him, but he wanted more population under him for faster development and progress as the Cosmic Ascension Competition was a brutal race.
After all, there were only ten winner spots every hundred years, and only those ten could ascend to the higher cosmos plane!
He had contacted demon kings and told each of them a way to summon him. He gave a method of sacrificial summoning to Baratos and Kalaka, requiring a sacrifice of a million demons to open a gate for him.
To the two Demon Kings in the East and two Demon Kings in the North, he gave them a sacrificial summoning as well, but multiple kinds instead of one.
One required the sacrifice of 10,000 Adept-rank demons, and the other required the sacrifice
of 100 Epic-rank demons, which was not possible as no single Demon Kingdom had 100 Epic-
rank demons.
As such, on top of giving them those two methods, he also gave a method of sacrificing 1 million Mortal-rank demons like Baratos and Kalaka, the most practical method.
But the Demon Lord was still not satisfied with these arrangements as he still added a backup plan in case those Demon Kings failed.
He branded the Southern Demon King Zaltora, the strongest Demon King currently, with his Demonic Art. This art would allow him to sacrifice Demon King Zaltora for his summoning. As a bonafide Demon Lord, Narazar could command the lower-class Demon Kings who were not even of the Akuma hierarchy, so everyone obeyed his command.
Of course, Demon Kings had the power to resist such commands at a certain cost as they had their souls awakened, which was why Narazar also promised Demon King Zaltora a new body after his sacrifice, as the sacrifice only required total drainage of a Demon King's cultivated
power. Demon King Zaltora would have to start anew if his sacrifice was triggered, but that was still good as he would get plenty of resources from Demon Lord Narazar to reach Demon King's
power level again and also become his trusted subordinate.
Alas, two pawns had already died.
When Baratos and Kalaka died, Demon Lord Narazar immediately found that out as he was
tracking their vital status by marking them when he briefly summoned his avatar here to give
them methods.
'Two fools died? The demon kings wouldn't kill each other since I gave them the tasks, so it could only be humans or Beastfolks,' Narazar frowned, his bright green eyes with black pupils showing annoyance as he sat cross-legged on a hill, under a black tree with dark yellow and
dark violet leaves.
Shaking his head, his eyes glinted and he thought, 'If the other four also fail, then I'll have no choice but to trigger Zaltora's sacrifice.'
He wanted to avoid Zaltora's sacrifice because he was a talented Demon. However, since Zaltora refused to sacrifice other demons in his kingdom, this was the only choice.
'It seems that I'll have to make a brief visit again and see if they are working fast. I must be summoned there at a precise time,' Narazar narrowed his eyes.
Although he was a bit annoyed that he would have to exhaust his power to conjure his Avatar
on planet Ardentia, even if briefly, he had no other choice but to do it.
'My current ranking is 61st. It fucking went down by one.' Narazar checked the Cosmic
Ascension Competition's ranking board and frowned, 'If this goes on, and I fail to acquire resources and develop more, I won't get a spot in the top 10.'
Without further ado, he began to conjure his avatar on planet Ardentia by targetting its demonic source.
