Premarital Practice (3)
Lin Yu He was the only one left in the room. He continued to take out some of his smaller items and put them in place, taking a few minutes to finish.
The house was comfortable and homey, but felt a bit empty because of all the large space. Lin Yu He’s things were added in so the place seemed a bit more filled up.
Lu Nan called in the afternoon to say that he would be home a bit later today, and Lin Yu He could imagine how busy the other was after hearing the background noise, with bits of English and Chinese mixed in.
He took his books and went to the study room to self-study. It wasn’t until about eleven o’clock when Lin Yu He left the bedroom from a shower when he heard the sound of a door being opened.
The man walked in in a brisk manner, with the chill of a winter night on his body. The back hem of his long trench coat had been swept by the wind and was flying, making the moment even more intimidating.
As soon as he looked up, he noticed the man in a soft pale blue nightgown. Lin Yu He had just taken a shower, making his hair wet and his fair skin a light pink colour. It made his pale skin look more alive.
The wind that the open door brought in was a little cold, and Lin Yu He turned around to sneeze. He didn’t notice the man’s eyes when he looked at him.
“Elder brother is back.” He turned back around and rubbed the tip of this nose, having a nasal quality to his voice.
Feeling that his appearance was quite inappropriate, Lin Yu He didn’t stay any longer, and with his greeting he said: “I’ll go dry my hair first.”
“Go.” The man’s voice was steady, and normal with the exception of being a little hoarse.
Lin Yu He returned after drying his hair and saw that Lu Nan had changed his clothes, looking at the computer beside the bed.
Hearing his movement, the man looked up and asked, “What will you wake up on Monday?”
“There will be classes in the first session tomorrow at eight o’clock,” Lin Yu He said. “So probably seven o’clock.”
Lu Nan replied, “Then rest early.”
Lin Yu He nodded: “Okay.”
He thought about the fact that he had slept until ten o’clock this morning and couldn’t help feeling a little guilty.
In order to sleep peacefully tonight, Lin Yu He had made a lot of preparations in advance. He brought his fully charged hot water bottle and placed it by the pillow.
Lu Nan glanced at it and said “What is this?”
Lin Yu He: “It’s my hot water bottle.”
Lu Nan glanced at him: “Were you cold last night?”
Lin Yu He choked on his words for a moment: “…Not cold.”
“I’m just used to sleeping with a hot water bottle in my arms.” He explained bravely. “I didn’t bring it yesterday, and disturbed elder brother…”
He tried hard to reassure: “It won’t happen tonight.”
After he finished speaking, he waited nervously for Lu Nan’s reaction, but the man didn’t have any interesting ones.
Lu Nan only replied simply, “Oh.”
There was no expression on his face, no emotion.
Lin Yu He couldn’t figure out the other, but he didn’t want a repeat of what happened that morning so he thought it was over for the time being.
He took the initiative to place the lip balm at the head of the bed, acting very consciously to show that he would not forget to put it on.
Additionally with the hot water bottle, Lin Yu He also brought a glass of warm milk. He used to drink milk when he couldn’t sleep, and it would usually have some effect.
Placing the milk on the table beside the bed, Lin Yu He carefully pulled his pillow away.
Today he used the quilt made by his aunts at home. The blankets were far apart with enough space for each, and the pillows were separated by an arm’s length. Lin Yu He pulled his pillow away even more.
As soon as he was done adjusting the pillow, he reached over for the milk when he heard the man’s voice.
“Hand.”
Lin Yu He was stunned and looked over: “Huh?”
Lu Nan had already stretched his own hand toward him. “Give me your hand.”
When his fingers were held, Lin Yu He suddenly realised something.
He had forgotten to soak in hot water!
Although he had taken a shower earlier, the heat had dissipated and his fingertips were cold again.
Before the man could speak, Lin Yu He hurriedly said, “I’ll go soak in some hot water to get rid of the cold.”
The man didn’t stop him, but as Lin Yu He hurried to the bathroom, he felt that the other party had seen through him.
Lin Yu He couldn’t help but reflect on if he had been too obvious in his escape.
With warmer hands and feet, Lin Yu He reluctantly sorted out his emotions and walked out.
The man had started to read his files again and said nothing as he saw him walking out.
Lin Yu He breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that whatever had just happened would be over now.
He took a few sips from the cup of milk and heard the man say: “The arrangements for the wedding process have been sent here.”
Lin Yu He glanced over and saw that Lu Nan had turned the laptop screen sideways in his direction.
Lin Yu He originally thought that the other party was busy with work, and didn’t expect to see this.
Lu Nan: “There will be a lot of things related to the wedding, so we will have to prepare in advance.”
Lin Yu He naturally had no objection: “Okay.”
“Is there anything I can help with?”
He had heard many engagement procedures from his stepmother before, and he was also prepared to deal with much more formal marriage ceremonies.
However, Lu Nan’s words were very brief and organised. “The details of the wedding can be adjusted, but the general process is already fixed. What needs to be paid attention to is the key points of videotaping and photography. The more cameras that follow, the less mistakes will be made.”
Lin Yu He finished the milk in a few gulps, put down the cup and sat down next to Lu Nan, looking at the screen with the man.
A long list of flowcharts was displayed on the computer, followed by several labels. The columns marked by Lu Nan were the number of cameras that followed.
Lu Nan said: “We have to start preparing for the part where there are the most cameras.”
Lin Yu He nodded.
While adjusting the spreadsheet, Lu Nan arranged the data in the column of the number of cameras by size, and said, “These processes need to be rehearsed in advance so that the actions will seem more natural, and people will not pick at mistakes.”
“Okay,” Lin Yu He said. Remembering that he had just finished his midterm exams, he said, “I have plenty of time, we can follow Mr. Lu’s schedule.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the screen displayed the process arrangements.
Lin Yu He noticed the first line.
The description of that step was very short, and the type, model and quantity of the cameras in the next label was very long.
That step was one sentence—
[Newlyweds. Couple hugs and kisses.]
Near his ear, the man’s low voice sounded.
“I also have plenty of time.”
