These past four days.
I really had a ton of fun, but, after descending the mountain with my bag filled to the brim with plants and herbs and returning to Grezesta, I was seriously exhausted. When we left the mountain, I was already tired from those four days as it was, but I was totally wrung dry of any remaining energy on the walk back. I really wanted to find an inn and get some rest, but I had to make sure to report the completion of the quest commission first, so I headed towards the Adventurer’s Guild.
As I entered the Adventurer’s Guild, which already felt nostalgic for some reason, I pushed my way through the crowd of adventurers and headed for the reception desks. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was tired or if it was because I spent four days with Ahmed, but my fear of those brawny adventurers in the Adventurer’s Guild had diminished considerably. Before I went to Mount Cornello, I was totally scared of them, but now I didn’t feel much else aside from the fact that I noticed their bodies were rather big.
“Excuse me, I’d like to make a quest commission completion report, is that okay?”
When I arrived at the reception desk for reporting quest completion statuses, I spoke to the receptionist lady who was standing behind the counter.
“Could I please have your name and your quest number tag?”
“The name is Lewin Jade, and the quest number tag is…. Ah yes, here it is.”
“Thank you. The quest commission was for a four day escort on Mount Cornello, and the party was [Azure Alliance], is that correct?”
“Yes, without a doubt.”
“Excuse me, there’s something I’d like to inquire about, is that alright?”
“Eh? Yes, please go ahead.”
Having said that, I couldn’t overlook the fact that I did have a rather tired look on my face right now, so I asked my question as concisely as possible.
“Does the Adventurer’s Guild buy medicinal herbs and useful plants?”
“Is this about a trade request? Since we charge a handling fee for people who aren’t adventurers, you would probably be able to get a better price selling at an established store…We do often buy from the general public though.”
Hmm…a handling fee, huh?
I didn’t really know how much the handling fee was, but it would be best to just sell my plants at the Adventurer’s Guild. The shops dealing with medicinal herbs and plants were very likely to be closely connected with the Healer’s Guild, so I didn’t really want to go there. In the event that I got turned away from trying to sell my herbs to those shops, I didn’t think my heart could take it.
“Could you please tell me how much the handling fee would cost?”
“The Adventurer’s Guild pockets 10% of the selling price. For example, if you sold something to us for 1 gold coin, the handling fee would be 1 silver coin, and you would end up receiving 9 silver coins.”
Ten percent, huh. It could be reasonable, but at the same time it could also be considered quite expensive. If I carefully select the herbs, it should be alright to sell them to the Adventurer’s Guild.
“Thank you for answering my question. I’ll make the trade request some time in the future. Oh, sorry! I almost forgot. Could I entrust you to give this to the [Azure Alliance]?”
“Uhh, is this an supplementary reward?”
What I handed over to the receptionist lady just now was a gift bag of assorted high quality plants and herbs. It wasn’t that big of a deal, and I probably should have handed it over to them myself without going through the Adventurer’s Guild. But for some reason, I felt embarrassed about it and missed the opportunity to do so earlier. Well, I suppose it didn’t really matter how it got to them, as long as they received it in the end.
After leaving the Adventurer’s Guild, I got a room at the usual rundown inn, and, as soon as I entered the room, I flopped onto the creaky bed. The bed was by no means good quality, but it was hundreds of times better than sleeping on the cold, hard earth on Mount Cornello. The bugs were also pretty bad back then….
After lying down for a bit while reminiscing over the past four days, I endured the overwhelming desire to fall asleep and got back up again. Time was more important to me than anyone else, so it would be no good to fall asleep too soon. After washing my body, before the day was over, I had to sort through the collected plants and herbs as much as possible.
The most important part of today had yet to begin.
