Chapter 145 Troublemakers (6)

When the boss charged again, Jake repeated the previous steps. Still, instead of dashing to escape the attack at the last moment, he used Sonic Punch to approach the beast. His punch didn't hit anything but put him in the range to use his long sword and pierce the side of the beast. The freezing longsword pierced the side of the monster deeply, and the rotation of the beast increased the size of the wound, helping the sword pierce even deeper. However, before the beast could suffer too much damage, it stopped and then tried to smash Jake with one of its claws. Jake jumped backward while leaving his sword behind in order to make the creature suffer some more damage.

"All right… this should do it," Jake thought while he saw some blood gushing from the wound.

Thanks to Bleed, the boss would lose health over time, and its arms weren't appropriate to take the freezing sword out of the wound, so the beast couldn't do much against it. That being, the boss was far from defeated… the beast moved its claws toward Jake, and then a powerful shockwave was sent toward him.

While jumping to the side to escape the attack, Jake used his katana to block some of the attacks. He did well because that attack had been faster than he had predicted. Despite his weapon taking some of the damage, his flesh still got cut in many places. It was probably a long-ranged physical skill… the ordinary armadillos didn't have that, though.

The monster tried to approach Jake since the long-ranged attacks didn't look like they were its specialty, but every time the boss moved, the wound hurt more, making the sword cause even more damage. So, it gave up on moving. Jake wondered if the monster would die by itself if he left them alone, but it was better to hurry things up.

Jake dashed toward the beast, and then the monster used its claws to send that shockwave again. Since he was waiting for it, Jake managed to dodge to the side on time, and then he began to run around the monster. The boss followed him with its eyes, but it couldn't turn around completely, so eventually, Jake had a clear view of the monster's back, and then he decided to attack. However, the boss forced itself to turn around, even though that made a lot of blood gush from the wound. At the same time, the beast used the claws attacks. Since he was so close, Jake couldn't dodge it…

Jake used his katana to block most of the damage, and while he suffered some more wounds, he thanked the power of the attack that slowed down his movements. Otherwise, he would stop right in front of the beast's claws.

"I can use this…" Jake thought.

Jake began to run around the monster again, and he charged toward the beast once he could see its back. Once again, the boss tried to turn around at the cost of some blood gushing from the wound, but the creature only saw Jake slowing down… it had been a faint, one that caused a lot of pain to the creature. Jake felt like smirking, but he prevented himself from doing that. It was too soon to assume his victory.

Jake tried that same strategy several times, but eventually, the boss grew tired of it, and then the creature began to act in a weird way… it suddenly looked a lot more clam while it was taking deep breaths. It didn't take long for Jake to notice that the monster was trying to pull the sword out while moving its muscles alone. That should be pretty painful, but it was better than letting the weapon hinder its movements during the whole fight. Naturally, Jake wouldn't let that happen, so he charged at the beast.

With its wild senses, the boss noticed that Jake was going to attack for real this time, so the monster turned around to face him, but that alone didn't make Jake stop. In fact, Jake used Sonic Thurst to prevent the monster from using its skill, and while that didn't work completely, it made the swing of the arm lose a lot of power. Jake used flames of wrath on the monster's face when the beast was about to use the other. Instead of attacking, the beast tried to get rid of the flames, and that gave Jake the chance to use Sonic Punch on the sword that was attached to the monster's left side. Making it the monster grunt in pain when it pierced the flesh even more than before.

For a moment, Jake stopped because he almost could see the fear in the armadillo's face. It wasn't the first time that he had killed a monster, but it was the first time that he noticed that a monster truly was suffering and agonizing. Still, Jake couldn't stop, nor did he have the leisure to be sympathetic toward monsters.

Just before the monster got rid of the dark flames, Jake dashed to the other side. The beast tried to smash him with one of the claws, but he dodged the attack by lowering his posture and passing below it. In a single motion, Jake fixed his Posture and then attacked the other side of the boss with his katana, making that creature have two swords impaling its sides. At that point in time, the monster couldn't move a single inch without suffering enough pain that could make it faint. To put the boss out of its misery as soon as possible, Jake used his dark flames in the shape of a spear and then made the projectile pierce the monster's heart.

It didn't take long for the monster to die. Things would have ended a lot sooner if that creature hadn't had such amazing hard carapace and such vitality. In the end, those only worked to make the monster suffer quite a lot…
