That was becoming quite common, but Jake sighed in relief after another intense fight. While it didn't last for long, he got hurt a lot more if compared to the previous mission. His arms were bleeding a bit, and the scratches were burning like hell. Fortunately, Jake forgot about that when he saw something dropping from the dungeon boss… Unfortunately, it was a bow.

Hard Bow

Stunning Arrow (0%), DeX + 10, master this item to obtain the effects permanently.

Durability: 20/20

Stunning Arrow: a powerful shot that can paralyze the enemy for a second when causing critical damage.

Cost: 10 mana

Jake sighed. It wasn't a bad weapon, but if possible, he wanted to solve all of his problems using his swords. In any case, it was a good weapon that deserved to be stored in case he finds someone who wants to buy it.

"Hmm… Maybe this can help me with this mission as well," Jake thought, and then he headed toward the exit of the dungeon.

Things hadn't changed outside, so Jake decided to do some training with the bow. First of all, he bought one of the most simple ones that granted him the skill Archery. After that, he began to practice it against the armadillos that were spawning. At first, Jake almost gave up on it since he was so terrible, but he learned fast how to use a bow by himself… A crossbow would be easier to learn, but Jake needed the skill of that weapon.

Although Jake's dexterity was laugh, he had a lot of power thanks to his absurd strength. As long as he hits the face of the armadillos, a single headshot would be enough to kill them. Moreover, he had the range advantage, and he didn't have to wait for them to approach first.

In the end, Jake practiced until noon. During those hours, he realized that while he had no talent with that kind of weapon, his dexterity could help him quite a bit. Essentially, with his current dexterity, he could hit a target in the head as long as they were twenty meters away. He could hit anything at the double of that distance, so it was safe to assume that his dexterity increased his accuracy and range with long-ranged weapons, as well as precision with some delicate tasks.

"Critical hits can be caused as long as I hit the head or the vitals of monsters, so I just have to focus on that before approaching them," Jake thought. "Let's see… While I can buy some items that will help increase my dexterity, I should get more buffs."

Congratulations! You have learned Apollo's Blessing.

It temporarily increases your dexterity by three points multiplied by the level of the skill for five minutes. Cost: 10 mana

Congratulations! You have learned Hephaestus' Blessing.

It temporary increases your Control by three points multiplied by the level of the skill for five minutes. Cost: 10 mana

Jake bought two extra rings and tried to master them as soon as possible. While he wasn't certain of that, he assumed that control could help with his archery skills as well. When he tried to shoot some Armadillos, he didn't notice anything different. Still, after the skill leveled up a bit, Jake confirmed that it granted him more precise control when he had to change his aim in the blink of an eye. It certainly improved his accuracy…

"At first, I thought that the cost of those skills was right, but now I can only see them as pretty cheap for such long effects… or maybe I am an anomaly since I have such high recovery," Jake thought.

In any case, Jake left the dungeon feeling a little more prepared to fight, and this time, he focused on looking for high ground to check the area. Again, there weren't any mountains around, so Jake had to look for several hills. After heading East for a couple of hours, Jake finally found some traces of smoke rising to the sky in the distance.

"I guess even liches would prefer a warm meal… or maybe that is a camp of survivors," Jake thought.

While that wasn't exactly boring, Jake made a mental note while he was approaching that he should focus more on clearing dungeons' quests. It seemed like he was a warrior through and through… he felt more satisfied when he was hunting massive hordes of monsters. Doing something like a spy or investigation work had its merits, but for someone as impatient as Jake, it wasn't the best cup of tea.

When the sun was beginning to set, Jake finally arrived at the area from where the smoke was rising, and he found another village being attacked. The battle was almost ending, so there wasn't much that he couldn't do aside from watching things unfold in the distance.

Since Appraisal leveled up, Jake could see some of the skills of the enemy now, not that it helped him in any way. Regardless, what surprised him was the fact that the liches were being treated like ordinary monsters by the system. At least that was what Appraisal showed, so Jake.

In any case, the liches were wearing cloaks that were covering their whole bodies, so Jake had a hard time seeing them from far away. Still, he managed to see the hands and the faces of some of them, and they looked like zombies since their skin was so gray and devoid of life. Also, just like the inhabitants of that world that were being imprisoned by them, they had long, pointy ears…
