Chapter 182 Feeling (1)

Jake used Flames of Wrath and Explosive Touch on his sword. Before Vare could understand what was going on, his right hand was already damaged quite a bit, to the point that half of his fingers were about to fall off. He tried to retreat to prevent that, but Jake pulled his sword upward, making him lose two of the three fingers on that hand.

Vare grunted in pain due to that, and then he charged at Jake to attack him with the only remaining claw in that hand, but Jake raised his shield and then used Shield Smash to counter the counter. Again, he wasn't pushed back, but he saw the enemy moving his left arm from the wound and trying to shred him to pieces. Jake used his sword to block the attack, but he was pushed backward this time.

Once again, Jake lost half of his health even though he didn't get hit directly. That was really troubling since the damage was passing through his bones, and in some ways, that was worse than having his flesh be cut.

If Vare got enraged that much by losing a few fingers, Jake assumed that it wasn't a good idea to show him his shurikens. He didn't know if the grizzlies and he were from the same species, but it was better to be safe than sorry. Also, only now did Jake realize that it was weird that they only had three fingers when bears usually have five.

At that point in time, Vare finally lost his patience, and then he used his left hand and used Frozen Claws. Didn't expect that he would see the elemental version of Mana Blade multiplied by three flying toward him at supersonic speeds. Still, he reacted in time to block the attack with his shield. The projectiles pushed him backward for some meters and also made his shield get as cold as hell.

"Elemental and physical damage…" Jake clenched his teeth in annoyance.

As if that wasn't troublesome enough, Vare kept firing that skill several times in a row. That was probably the best way to prevent Jake from causing more damage while he recovers, but he wouldn't let things be that easy for the enemy. Jake began to run to the sides, and when Vare tried to guess where he would be and predict his movements, he just suddenly stopped and then charged toward the enemy. When Vare fixed his aim again, he saw Jake hitting the ground and then making some steam rise and blocking the enemy's field of vision. That didn't stop Vare from attacking, though. However, he didn't hit Jake for whatever reason.

Vare stopped his attacks because he concluded that Jake had moved to somewhere else. It was the only explanation. Still, while he was looking around for him, he got shocked when Jake emerged from the steam curtain. That was one possibility that he hadn't considered… Instead of just moving away, Jake just got down and decreased the area in which he could be attacked.

Vare used Frozen Slash to stop Jake, but he didn't use it on time. Jake swung his sword while aiming at his neck, and he was forced to block it with his arms. Although his muscles and fur were thick, Jake's sword pierced deeply and pierced, even more when he used Explosive Touch. Blood began to gush from both arms, but then Vare opened his mouth and roared.

Jake raised his guard, but he didn't imagine that the attack would come from below. The ice of the dungeon began to cover his legs, and he was unable to move. Vare began to attack Jake with his claws, but he blocked the strikes with his shield. Still, Jake wouldn't survive for long in that situation where his moves had been sealed.

He didn't do that for long, but Jake charged a Thrust with several skills combined and then aimed at Vare's head when he found an opening. Vare expected a slash and not a thrust, so both of his arms got pierced by Jake's attack. He almost could. Jake used Explosive Touch to mess with his arms in that situation, so he kicked him in the gut to put some distance between them.

The ice covering his legs finally broke, so Jake fell to his knees due to the pain and the fact that he had lost all the air in his lungs. He spat a mouthful of blood, but Jake knew he got lucky because the claws on the enemies' legs could have ripped him apart. His armor saved him, but it won't keep him the next time since it was cracking now.

While Jake was using some potions to recover, he checked the statuses of the enemy. His last two attacks caused a lot of damage, but Vare still was far from falling. That was annoying since Jake couldn't recall the last time he suffered so much against a single enemy. In any case, his health was back to full again, even though his body still was hurting like hell. He had to finish things before the enemy recovered from the damage that they suffered. Not to mention, Jake will recover faster if he keeps attacking.

"I have to be wary of Frozen Roar…" Jake thought. "As long as I am not touching the ground, I should be fine, but without my footing, my attacks won't have the same power, and my defense won't be firm… what should I do?"

Before he could find an answer, Jake dashed toward the enemy in order to keep Vare busy. Although it was risky, he started things by using Boomerang Shield toward the enemy's face. Vare grabbed the shield, but he paid the price since the sharp teeth on the border of the shield were spinning, and Jake also used Explosive Touch.
