Jake used his shield, but he felt like he was being pushed by a mountain before he was sent flying spinning toward the wall of the dungeon. He completely blocked the attack, but he still lost forty percent of his health. He also somehow managed to land on the wall using his feet and absorbed the impact, but he still lost some more than twenty percent of his health. In front of such absurd strength, Jake could only clench his teeth, but he also smirked a little. That excitement wasn't bad.
Before Jake could land on the ground, Vare dashed at him again. So, he kicked the wall and charged toward the enemy as well. Vare didn't expect that, so he was caught off guard when Jake almost pierced his left eye. Somehow, the enemy bend his body and avoided the hit, In the end, Jake's sword only cut a little bit of the enemy's right cheek.
Jake quickly turned around when he landed, but he only saw Vare checking his wound, he got caught off guard, so he was checking the gravity of his own mistake to prevent that from happening again. It was a pain to fight someone like that, but Jake was counting at least on that much when fighting against a boss like Vare.
Vare lowered his Posture a bit as of he was planning to do something different and just as expected, he charged even faster than usual. Jake had drunk a potion, but its effects hadn't been finished yet, so he had to be careful. Dodging to the side using the same trick as before probably won't work that well. So, Jake did something risky… He charged toward the enemy.
Vare clicked his tongue when Jake passed by his side and his sword hit his knee as well. Jake knew that he didn't have a chance on a direct confrontation, so he was being smart and was trying to stop the movements of the enemy. Aiming for the arms and legs was easier than going to critical attacks when the target was a lot stronger, after all.
"His defenses are too solid, I have to do something about that as well," Jake thought.
Jake was already using Concentrated Strike and Fire Enchantment to attack, but he didn't have enough time to buff his strength as much as he wanted. With each strike, he was also recovering some health, but since he couldn't attack that often, the amount of recovered health was small.
"Using Currency Damage won't help since he is bound to give me dozens of thousands of coins," Jake thought. "Usually, Concentrated Strike would be the only option, but he won't give me enough time to charge, so I will have to improvise."
Jake didn't have time to think, but he found the answer instinctively when Vare attacked again. At first, he thought of using the same trick as before, but Jake saw Vare lowering bis left arm to block his path, so he did again, something that the enemy didn't expect. Jake stood on his ground to block the attack.
Although he used Shield Smash and Bash at the last moment to decrease the power of Vare claw, he still felt like all of the bones of his left arm were cracking. Still, Jake wasn't pushed back for dozens of meters like before and he surprised the enemy, making an opening for himself. Jake used that opportunity to attack the wound on the knee of the enemy, he used Double strike and then Sonic Blows, and then Sonic Thrust. So many attacks on the same spot caused critical damage and then some blood began to gush from the wound.
When Vare recovered from the surprise, he used his remaining claw to attack Jake, but he escaped to the side using a jump and Explosive Touch. Vare wanted to follow him, but the wound in his knee was bothering him with the amount of blood he was using. It was only natural since Jake hit so many times, making the effects of Bleed stack. To stop that, Vare just put his left hand on the wound and waited for his recovery to work.
"As if I would let you…" Jake thought.

At first, Jake got caught satisfied with his plan working, but then he realized that the enemy was still holding back and probably waiting for him to make a mistake after getting too eager. So, he took a break to calm down. Jake almost saw the disappointment in Vare's face when he didn't attack as soon as he wanted. Still, Jake eventually attacked.
Without holding back, Jake went for the kill while being mindful of counters, he used all his might to make his sword hit and pierce Vare's eyes, but he still managed to block his attack with a single hand. Jake buffed his strength and then used Explosive Touch, but the best he could do was to cut down the hand of the enemy a little bit. Before Vare could do anything like counterattacking, Jake pulled back his sword while he landed a roundhouse kick on his face added with the power of Explosive Touch. In the end, Vare was forced to let him go.
"An obvious attack won't work, huh," Jake thought. "Even when he can only use a single-arm… in that case…"
As soon as he recovered from the failure, Jake tried again. After repeating the same thing as before, Jake looked like a madman trying to obtain a different result without doing anything else differently. Still, Vare could tell that he was planning something. So, he just grabbed the sword again. What Vare didn't expect was the fact that Jake would start the real attack when his sword was grabbed…
