When Jake approached the vines, he used Explosive Touch and cyclone strike to hit all of them. He made the vines move away for a bit but ultimately failed to cut them down. They weren't just thicker. They were a lot sturdier as well... that was more than a bit troublesome, but he could think of a few ways to deal with that, as long as they don't touch him, most problems could be avoided. He only couldn't think of what to do once they touch him...
The impacts caused by his attacks made the poison air move away from Jake. However, he still could feel it draining a bit of strength and health every moment, so he couldn't trust on that strategy forever.
"What the…" Jake frowned when he saw the vines repairing themselves.
Jason knew that the monster's recovery probably could help on the vines, but that much was just surreal. Using his best tactics from the beginning wasn't his style, but Jake changed his approach. Instead of using Explosive Touch, he used Freezing touch to freeze the areas of the vines a bit at a time.
Ice shards filled with pieces of the vines began to fly around, and the enemy started to retreat those. However, the beast soon used Putrid Fruits again, and Jake was close enough to have problems while blocking or dodging those. Since he was busy with that, the poison around began to surround him again.
"What an annoying cycle…" Jake thought.
Jason used Boomerang Shield again, and his attack blocked most of the putrid fruits, opening a path for him. He followed that path and then got close enough when his shield hit the face of the monster. However, the putrid fruits decreased the power of the shield, so it barely caused any scratch.
Still, Jake attacked the annoying-looking face of the Trent while using his sword and Explosive Touch. The fire damage spread in the area thanks to the impact, and he kept using the skill. Even if it was undead Trent in the giant form, it still was basically a tree, and trees were weak against fire.
The monster trembled with each impact, but soon it ignored that and then used Poisonous Breath. Since he was so close to the origin point, Jake's attacks didn't disperse the poison all that much, so he jumped backward when he felt the strength leaving his body.

"I knew it wouldn't be easy, but…" Jake thought.
Jake barely caused any damage with a powerful sequence of attacks, and the monster was also quickly regenerating itself… it was really troublesome since the beast had numerous ways to keep him at a distance. Nevertheless, Jake just readied his sword and charged yet again.
When Jake charged at using the power of Explosive Touch to disperse the poison, he suddenly saw the enemies making the vines join together to make a single one a lot stronger and more durable than the others. The bears swung that toward Jake like a whip, and he blocked it with his shield. A massive noise echoed in the area as Jake was pushed back for dozens of meters. The weight behind that attack wasn't something to laugh at…
"I guess even a brain-dead monster can think of a few tricks…" Jason thought.
That was kind of annoying, but in a way, it helped Jake. He charged again, and when that massive mass of vines moved toward him, Jake smirked. In the next moment, he used Full Swing and then enhanced his sword with the dark flames and made them move like a chainsaw. The beast began to tremble a lot more in pain while the vines were being cut like twigs. In the end, the massive vine whip was chopped off, and the beast lost a lot of health.
Jake used that chance to approach the monster, but the beast was far from done. As if it knew that Jake would probably kill it if he had too many chances to approach, the monster used everything in its power to keep him away, even using Poisonous Breath and Putrid Fruits at the same time. It was almost unfair to deal with two negative areas of effect spells. Still, Jake just slowed down a little and dodged those.
"This monster looks troublesome at first glance, but only to those that can't cause a lot of damage fast… I can deal with it pretty quickly as long as I play it smart and find a way to get rid of all the poison," Jake thought.
While focusing on evasive maneuvers, Jake saw the health of the monster quickly increasing again. Some of the vines were even growing again, so he got a bit impatient. However, he then had an idea of how to deal with them. Using Flames of Wrath offensive could cause a lot of damage pretty fast. Still, Jake could also use it defensively to stop the enemy's cards.
After focusing for a while to have a clear image of what he wanted to do, Jake summoned his dark flames in the shape of spheres around him. He could summon around ten of those thanks to the level of the skill and his intelligence, which increased a fair bit as well. He had those spheres rotate around him as fast as he could. Making them do that while keeping rhythm at the same time was a bit mentally tiring. Still, at least Jake got what he wanted… the spheres began to move so fast that they began to dissipate all the poison gas. Jake felt his health stop decreasing, and his body was completely back to normal.
"Now we are talking…" Jake said and then smirked.
