Chapter 274 King (2)

"I am sick to my stomach of your very existence," Judas said. "Have you ever shown your true persona to anyone else aside from your enemies? No matter, you won't have to worry about hiding your true self from others anymore."

When Judas prepared to attack Frederick, he suddenly felt the air changing. He could recognize miles away when someone was having bloodthirsty thoughts toward him. Still, he was bad at feeling other people's presence when they weren't thinking of anything. He looked around and saw some trees and rocks… people had been hiding behind those without showing any emotion. Still, now he could feel them since he could feel their bloodthirstiness…

"I really must have created a reign of terror since you guys aren't willing to face me alone," Judas said. "Show yourselves. You can't possibly look more pathetic than this."

Judas was truly surrounded. Aside from Frederick, he recognized Milena and Hugo and two other guild masters. He had never seen the other five before, but he could tell they were strong. They were the council of the ten masters… survivors who had led and protected countless people since the first monsters showed up. Judas respected them in the past, but their insistence on protecting their ego and ideals made him lose all the respect he had for them.

Unfortunately, Judas' surprise didn't end there, though… some groups of soldiers approached. Each one of them had five hundred members… they were the groups that he had sent earlier to solve some problems around regarding monsters.

"I see… those reports were lies," Judas said. "They were all excuses for you all to leave the base at the same time and prepare this without raising any suspicion. I should have killed all of you when I had the chance…"

Judas showed his mercy, and he sparred with most of those guys' friends and families in exchange for their services, but they only did that so that they could betray him one day. They even worked together with the ten masters for years to prepare for that ambush.

"No matter, it isn't too late for that," Judas said. "I will kill all of you here, and then maybe I will turn your friends and families into slaves. No more mercy for any of you. Even if I were to become the last human, I would survive… and all the others who get in my way will die."

Judas dashed toward Frederick when he felt his feet being sucked by the ground. It only took him a fraction of a second to understand and react to that. In the blink of an eye, he recovered the distance of two hundred meters, but Milena fired dozens of arrows to stop him. In the end, Judas blocked the arrows with his bracer without even flinching or losing speed, but he was forced to stop when a massive sword was swung toward him. Hugo joined the fray, and while he missed the attack, his swing opened two hundred meters long fissures on the ground.

Judas looked at him with a bored expression on his face and swung his sword toward the enemy's head, but then some chains made of light emerged from the ground and stopped his movements. It was the famous hooded magician…

"And I respected you guys so much… My brain probably wasn't working at that like," Judas said when he saw thousands of magic projectiles falling from the sky and the others moving away from the range.

Judas tried to free himself from the spell, but that only worked to wound him. It was the kind of spell that did nothing but lock someone in place and damage them when they tried to escape. Still, in the split of a second, Judas attacked the ground, and the vibration of the attack disturbed the mana. Judas was completely free when the projectiles fell on him and just swung his sword around to repel all of them.

The enemies around knew that Judas could disrupt magic without using mana, which was supposed to be impossible. Still, they didn't think that it would be like that… So simple and yet powerful. All of a sudden, a powerful arrow fired by Milena flew toward Judas' head. Still, he grabbed the projectile when it was ten centimeters away. The projectile exploded and then turned him and the area into a land of ice, but Judas, with brute strength alone, freed himself.

"I guess I understand now… the dumbasses made all this shit about ruling and a castle and made me a king so that I wouldn't have the chance to become stronger," Judas said. "Talk about underhanded… sucks to be you all, but I can get stronger even without fighting. I will show you how…"

The ten masters approached again since they knew that the long-ranged attacks of the others wouldn't help them. Still, before they could do anything, Judas fired a massive Mana Blade toward Frederick and Milena. Hugo tried to cover for them as usual, but they were pushed backward for hundreds of meters in a few seconds. In the end, the hooded magician teleported them away from the attack. Still, one of the battalions that were supposed to be working for Judas was wiped out from existence when the attack reached them.

Those who had good magic senses could tell the mana being assimilated by Jake's body and his parameters and skills leveling up… they had no idea how, but he truly was getting stronger.

"Now you understand why I don't keep prisoners…" Judas said.

All of the people there reached a point where they obtained a power that didn't follow the system's rules, at least the masters and Judas did, but they had no idea what his power was. They assumed that it was some sort of skill that could steal fragments of the people he killed for status points or skill levels. That was indeed something stupidly powerful… Still, that only made them more eager to win because if they lost, Judas would obtain so much power that no one on the planet would be able to stop him…
