It has been a while since the last time Leon felt he wasn't progressing, but he felt weird imagining that several months had passed since the last time he felt depressed. Back on that island, he would always spend at least three days in a month doing nothing...
Maybe it was a coincidence, or perhaps Leon's behavior was influencing Darya more than he thought. A few days after discovering how to create mithril, she looked restless, she looked a bit restless. Darya was a woman who had a small appetite and tended to sleep a lot, but recently she had eaten less and sleeping more.
"What's wrong?" Leon asked. "Getting impatient?"
"I was thinking... won't you solve your problems if you negotiate with my grandfather?" Darya asked.
"What?" Leon frowned.
"I mean... if you help him defeat the harvesters, he will probably ignore the problems we caused," Darya said. "And you will obtain the chance to question the harvesters."
"Do you think your grandfather needs the help of someone like me?" Leon asked. "Is the army of this world that pathetic?"
"The soldiers of this world don't have the freedom to choose what they will learn and train," Darya explained. "They are specialized in certain types of magic and work together as a proper army to protect our lands. While you probably can't face the full power of the best spell of a specialized soldier, you probably are fast enough to dodge those attacks and counter-attack them with other spells. At least in a battle one-on-one, I don't think you won't lose to most soldiers. But if you get surrounded by a small team…"
"So, I am at that level already…" Leon rubbed his chin. "Well, it doesn't matter, I don't intend to work with someone who uses his relatives like tools. Just that alone isn't enough to make me trust him… and there is even the question about the liches dungeon."
"Are you sure about that? Don't you want to go home as soon as possible?" Darya asked.
"I want to go home as soon as possible, but I can't sacrifice my conscience to achieve my goals," Leon answered.
Leon had never seen Donan, but he felt like if he sees him, the first thing Leon would do was to kick his face. It didn't matter if he did everything to protect his world, some things couldn't be forgiven, and treating family like tools was one of them.
Although Leon didn't know if Darya was satisfied with his explanation, he decided to focus on other things, for example, what to do with his weapons now that he could create better ones made from mithril. He had no problems whatsoever changing everything. The problem was the Emperor's Katana. Leon barely used the sword in the past months, but that didn't mean he had forgotten the promise he made to Yuki. Besides, even though they only talked a few times, that sword was a memento of a friend.
"Come to think of it… what will happen if I try to seal the spirit of a monster in a magic weapon?"
Leon started to wonder why he didn't try that before. Maybe it was because clearly would fail... in the worst-case scenario. The weapon would break. Before trying that, Leon created a perfect replica of the Emperor's Katana made of mithril.
Mithril Katana
It grants you Strength + 80, Speed + 80, Dexterity + 80.
"What are you doing?" Darya frowned after watching Leon doing nothing but forging a katana made of mithril for three days straight.
"A test… you should create a magic staff made of mithril, too." Leon answered. "You should start forging a wand. Once you complete it, I will Seal the spirit of a Kraken in it if you want."
Leon wanted to test if all magic items were the same, if that was the case, there was a chance that Leon could use Seal on the emperor's katana and pass the spirit within to another weapon. Still, Leon soon realized that it wouldn't solve anything. The material and the overall appearance of the weapon would change as well.
Instead of making such tests using the emperor's katana, Leon created a ring made of mithril and then sealed the spirit of a Kraken inside of it.
Mithril Ring of the King of the Seas
It grants you the skill: Cyclone Lv 130. Intelligence + 80, Mentality + 80.
It was a very powerful ring and granted Leon an absurdly powerful skill. However, the cost to use Water Cyclone was one hundred points of mana per second. Still, that wasn't over yet. Leon defeated another Kraken and tried to Seal its spirit in the same ring. This time Leon felt some rejection. The spirit almost dispersed, but thanks to his control, Leon succeeded.
Mithril Ring of the King of the Seas (+1)
It grants you the skill: Cyclone Lv 143. Intelligence + 88, Mentality + 88.
"Well, it improved… even Cyclone became stronger. However, I don't think I can add spirits of any monster inside the magic weapons. The spirits inside the magic weapons must have some sort of compatibility… the emperor's katana doesn't have any elemental attributes, so the spirit of a neutral monster should be enough to strengthen it."
Although that was a good development because Leon would be able to make War Cry stronger, soon he found some obstacles. He didn't know why, but the more spirits he tried to Seal in a single magic weapon, the more time he had to concentrate in order not to let the process fail. It looked like he would have to increase his control a little bit, because, with his current skills, Leon could only improve the mithril ring up until +3.
