"Mum stop it! Doctor, am sure you must be mistaken," the young lady said to the doctor while still holding unto her mother.
"Am afraid to say this, but from the test result, their blood groups are totally different," the doctor announced in all seriousness.
"What?!" the old lady literally screamed.
The man just looked between the doctor and his wife he earlier refused to set his eyes on.
"Can you explain what is going on? What is the doctor talking about?" the man questioned his wife while trying to remain as calm as possible.
"I don't know, I think he is mistaken. He might have swapped your blood sample with another," the woman answered with a shocked look, as her heartbeats increased by a few paces.
"Madam, look, I am sure of what I am saying. No blood samples were swapped because your husband was the only one being attended to at that time, so am sure of what am saying," the doctor said as he adjusted his coat, while the nurses standing behind him looked at themselves in surprise.
What a drama to behold.
"Talk to me, what does the doctor mean?!" the old lady asked her daughter-in-law in a raised voice.
"Mother... I don't know. Maybe our blood samples were misplaced!" the woman replied hastily with a frightened look.
The old lady glanced at the doctor as if to confirm if what her daughter-in-law was saying was true.
The doctor looked a bit provoked as he said to them.
"Look, I am not here to play. The patient has lost a lot of blood. And if his condition worsens, the fault will not be from us, as we have tried our best and done the things within our reach. So, the patient's life lies in your hands."
"Doctor, I am the patient's sister, maybe I can try getting my blood tested," the young lady announced, trying to save the situation.
"Well then, hurry up. The clock is ticking," the doctor said before turning to walk away.
The young lady quickly followed one of the nurses that came with the doctor for the test.
"Excuse me, doctor, can I get a DNA test done in this hospital, and how long will the result take to come out?" the man asked as he immediately followed behind the doctor.
"You can get a DNA test done here. But the result will take a few days to come out," the doctor replied as he continued to walk forward.
"Is there any way for the time to be shortened? I will pay any amount," the man said.
The doctor stopped in his steps and answered, "within 24 to 48 hrs then."
"I want to get a DNA test done on my two children and myself. And then with their mother as well," the man requested.
What he meant to say was that he would like to do a paternity and maternity test to check if the children he thought were his, were actually his and if his wife is their mother.
"No problem, we still have some of their blood samples, so we will be able to carry out the test from there. So just go the lab......."
The doctor directed him on how to go about the DNA test before leaving.
The man disappeared for several minutes before going back to his family, only to see his daughter with a smile on her face, sitting in between her mother and grandmother.
And both women looked so happy.
When he approached them, his mother stood up and walked the remaining distance to him before saying to him worriedly.
"Son, where did you go to, we were all worried about you? The test was successful, your children's DNA matched, so my grandson can be saved now," The old lady said as she held unto her son's arm.
The happy look on her face looked weird.
"That's good to know mother. You must be tired, please have a seat," the man said as he managed a smile.
His thoughts were in disarray. He was thinking of the possibility of the children he cared for and brought up not being his children but other men's.
He didn't know what he would do if the possibilities were true. For sure, he would kill someone.
But for now, he has to be calm, and not in any way divulge his plans on the paternity test to anyone, including his mother.
He went to sit down beside his mother.
"Husband, our son will be saved now!" the man's wife said while staring at him, pitifully.
The man just nodded at her before looking away from her immediately.
He got goosebumps when he heard her say, 'Our son'. It took a lot of deep breaths to stay calm.
He swore that he would kill this woman if the children he had brought up with his money, love, and care were not his.
He seriously wouldn't spare her if he found out that he had been deceived by this woman who had been sleeping beside him for years.
And for her, his mother forced him to abandon the love of his life and his unborn child.
If what he is thinking was true, then he would definitely kill someone, and will not in any way, spare his mother as well, because she was the Genesis of everything.
As different possible thoughts were going through his mind, the same thing was going through the old lady's mind.
'How come their blood groups matched? Maybe it was a coincidence,' the old lady said as she shook her head, before glancing at her daughter-in-law and granddaughter weirdly.
"Grandma, why are you looking at me that way, is anything the matter?" the young lady asked with a confused look on her face when she noticed her grandmother had a weird look on her face while staring at her.
"No, every fine. Am just glad that your blood matched with your brother's, and now, my grandson can be saved," the old lady replied.
The young lady just nodded in a smile as she continued to press on her wound.
Just then, a nurse came out and called out to the young lady, to follow her to get the blood transfusion, started.
