"X, I don't have time for this. I need you to give me a reply in not less than an hour," Liu Longwei replied and terminated the call immediately.
Then he went ahead to sit on his chair, lost in thought.
The journey to Liu Villa went smoothly; it was just like any other smooth travel.
When Chen Lihua arrived at the Liu Villa, Madam Liu came out to welcome her with a big smile on her face. "See who is here to see us."
Chen Lihua came down from the car and hurried to her mother-in-law with a smile. "Hello Mother, how are you?" Chen Lihua greeted her as she embraced her.
"Am fine, my darling. How are you?" Madam Liu asked while releasing her from the hug.
"Am doing great, mother, but I missed you," Chen Lihua stated.
Madam Liu pulled her arm gently as she led her into the house.
"So, you actually missed me but didn't call me or come to see me?" Madam Liu asked as she feigned an annoyed look.
"Mother am sorry about that. I've been busy at the hospital, and the surgeries took most of my time. But when I am finally given a break away from work, Longwei takes the remaining time," Chen Lihua put all the blame on work and Liu Longwei immediately. And she was not sorry for that; in fact, she was very happy.
Madam Liu chuckled softly, "That son of mine! How is he doing?"
"He is fine, mother," Chen Lihua replied.
"I was wondering why you were taking too long. Who knew that this mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pair were busy catching up, leaving this old lady here alone," Old Lady Liu commented. She had a displeased look on her face as she spoke.
Madam Liu laughs and replies, "Mother, it's not like that."
Chen Lihua manages to smile after putting much effort into trying not to laugh. "Grandmother, it's not like that."
"You two talk alike. Then tell me, how is it like?" Old Lady Liu inquired with the same displeased look. She looked she wasn't buying their words.
Chen Lihua and Madam Liu walked towards Old Lady Liu, and both sat on each of her sides.
Chen Lihua gave Old Lady Liu a side hug and a peck on her old cheek. "I missed you, grandmother."
Old Lady Liu stared at Chen Lihua in awe. She was shocked by her gesture.
Madam Liu was surprised as well, but she smiled as she said to Old Lady Liu, "Mother, you see, Lihua loves you more. I didn't even get a kiss from her after such a long time."
Old Lady Liu glanced at her daughter-in-law, and then at Chen Lihua. "This child! I don't know what to do with you."
"You can do anything you want, grandmother. Grandmother, mother, I brought you gifts," Chen Lihua said as she gestured to the three bodyguards that just stepped into the house.
The three of them came forward and put all the gifts she brought down before leaving.
"This child~ why did you have to trouble yourself? We are family!" Old Lady Liu reprimanded her kindly.
"Lihua dear, we are family. You really don't have to do this," Madam Liu added in a soft tone.
"It's exactly because we are family that I am doing this. If I don't show love to my own family first, how can I be proud outside?" Chen Lihua replied with a bright smile.
Madam Liu and Old Lady Liu felt touched by her words.
"Oh, this child! You sure have a sweet tongue just like your mother," Old Lady Liu replied.
Chen Lihua asked Old Lady Liu in surprise, "Really?"
"You had no idea?" Madam Liu inquired with a smile.
Chen Lihua shook her head in amazement. She was surprised to discover that she had that trait like her mother.
Whenever she saw her mother use those tactics on people, she would say to herself and agree with the rest of the people that her mother had a sweet tongue. Not knowing that she too had that trait.
"You know, you can give her a call," Madam Liu suggested from the side.
"Thank you, mother, I will do that," Chen Lihua replied as she moved towards the gifts.
"Grandmother, I didn't know what to get for your friend, so I bought some vitamins and health supplements, local wine and flower tea. Is that okay?"
Old Lady Liu face-palmed her forehead and asked with a tired look, "Who asked you to get a gift for her. Why bother going through the stress when I have already prepared gifts for her?"
"Grandmother, it doesn't matter. Since you invited me to the party, I had to get something for her despite knowing you would already have prepared gifts for her," Chen Lihua replied.
Chen Lihua and the two women chatted for a bit before sitting at the dining to eat something. Thereafter, they went to get ready for the party.
Chen Lihua was dressed in the same outfit she had come in—a white long silk gown with her hair in an updo. She looked so simple but yet elegant and beautiful.
Now ready to be on their way to the party, they decided to take the Limousine parked in the Liu Villa.
K2 walked up to Chen Lihua and whispered in her ear, "Mistress, Boss said there is a situation tonight, so he asked you to sit in the Rolls Royce with the Old Madam and Madam. The car will be safer than the Limousine."
Chen Lihua looked at him in surprise. She knew that for Liu Longwei to give out such instructions, something serious must have happened or is about to happen.
"Where is he?" Chen Lihua asked calmly.
"At the mansion," K2 replied.
"Is it possible for us (Chen Lihua, Madam Liu, and the Old Lady) to sit at the back seat of the car without getting cramped?" Chen Lihua asked.
She was worried about the space in the car. The car she has been sitting on was a two sitter car, so how could three grown-up women possibly sit in there?.
