In less than twenty seconds, Liu Longwei gave the underling a look as he asked in a dangerous tone that was hard to detect, "Are you sure you really can't see anything?"
The underling was scared to give a negative response because his Top Boss, Liu Longwei didn't look like he would agree to his negative response. He might even get fired in the process.
He couldn't even lie because it would cost him his life, and he couldn't keep his mouth shut because Liu Longwei asked him a question.
So he had to make a choice. He chose to say the truth, but in a meek voice because he was scared of the wrath that would befall him.
"I can't see anything, Sir."
"Very good," Liu Longwei replied and turned to AD to say, "I can see how good you are in training them."
AD was speechless. Not knowing what to say, he turned to the underling and gave him a death glare, which meant that the scores would be settled later.
"AD, I need people to monitor those four black cars and the two power bikes at the corner. Contact the military. I need three choppers immediately. I will send you the location they need to come to. Stay here and oversee the whole extraction, and I need you to stay in touch with me when I leave here," Liu Longwei ordered.
AD responded with, "Yes Sir," and immediately got to work.
Liu Longwei left the house in a yellow sports car with black tinted glasses. He was on his way to rescue his wife.
At the GU Mansion where the birthday celebration was going on, Chen Lihua and the two ladies from the Liu house went to see the birthday celebrant, Old Lady Gu.
The party was in full spring when they arrived, so they had to go greet the celebrant upon arrival.
Old Lady Gu was chatting with some of her friends, and she was the centre of attraction dressed in a blue embroidered Qi Pao. She smiled from ear to ear.
When she saw Old Lady Liu, she stood up and walked towards her, saying with a little excitement in her voice. "This Old Lady, I thought you wouldn't come, so I was already planning on how to detain you at my house, anytime you would come visiting."
"I can very well see how perfectly the planning is going," Old Lady Liu said sarcastically, as she hugged her friend.
"Happy Birthday, dear friend," Old Lady Liu wished her friend.
"Thank you," Old Lady Gu said in appreciation before her sight landed on Chen Lihua and Madam Liu.
"Old Lady, I can see you came with your daughter-in-law and granddaughter-in-law," Old Lady Gu commented while peering over at Chen Lihua and Madam Liu with a smile.
Hearing their names being mentioned, Chen Lihua and Madam Liu stepped forward to greet Old Lady Gu. The Old Lady responded to their greetings and birthday wishes happily.
The other Old Ladies who were with Old Lady Gu walked to them with smiles on their faces. They greeted Old Lady Liu, and they seemed to be respectful in their greetings.
Old Lady Liu replied as she greeted them before introducing Chen Lihua to them when they asked about her.
"This is my granddaughter-in-law Chen Lihua. Lihua dear, these Old fellas are my friends."
Chen Lihua greeted them with a polite smile.
The Old Ladies were pleased with her. They praised her for her beauty and praised Madam Liu and Old Lady Liu for having a wonderful daughter-in-law with so many accomplishments, beauty, and had a good family background.
Of course, Old Lady Liu had a proud smile on her face for being praised.
Some of the Old Ladies envied Old Lady Liu for having a granddaughter-in-law like Chen Lihua.
"Why are we all standing and talking when we could still do that while sitting? Come, let's all take a seat," Old Lady Gu said to them as she led them to the previous place they were sitting.
"Lihua dear, come let me introduce you to some other people. I know it must have been a long time since you attended parties like this," Madam Liu said kindly to Chen Lihua, as she gently pulled her hand before leading her away.
"Yes, mother. It's been years since I attended this kind of party. And when I used to attend this kind of party, I was never happy about it. In parties like this, everybody has a fake smile on their faces while they talk to you. But behind your back, they talk bad about you," Chen Lihua said.
"You are right, Lihua, but you only talked about the negative part. Just ignore people like that, or you play along with them. You know, there is a good side to parties like this. You get to meet new people, business partners, destiny helpers. You also get to enjoy the scenario, the food and drinks, and lots more," Madam Liu said with a smile.
"Hmmm! That's right, mother," Chen Lihua said in total agreement with her.
Chen Lihua decided to change her thoughts about the parties.
Madam Liu introduced her to her friends and their children. They made small talks with some of them before they decided to take a rest.
"Lihua dear, sit over there while I get us something to eat and drink," Madam Liu said.
"No, mother, let's go together," Chen Lihua said, trying to compromise. How could she sit and wait for her elder to bring food for her?
"Don't worry. I will take care of it. Just sit there, people will come to chat with you. But if I stay glued to you, it might scare them away."
Chen Lihua smiled and said gratefully, "Thank you, mother."
Madam Liu smiled and left after patting her shoulders.
Not even a minute after Madam Liu left, three ladies approached Chen Lihua with a smile.
One of the Ladies introduced herself before politely asking Chen Lihua, "Can we sit here?"
"Of course, please have a seat," Chen Lihua said as she gestured with her hand.
The three girls sat down, and the other two introduced themselves.
Chen Lihua introduced herself, and the four began to make small talks.
"Don't mind my rudeness, but I saw your interaction with Mrs Liu, and you two seemed pretty close. Do you share a special relationship with her?" the girl that first spoke to Chen Lihua asked curiously.
