Si Huaixi’s deep blue eyes concealed a swirling and treacherous undertow, resembling a dark abyss that lured unsuspecting souls into hellish retribution.
Prince Edward furrowed his brow subconsciously, not understanding the hidden meaning behind Si Huaixi’s words. He thought that Si Huaixi had finally agreed to his request to spare Kyle.
However, what happened next caught Prince Edward off guard.
Si Huaixi casually picked up a discarded piece of iron and forcefully molded it into a roughly-shaped six-faced cube, then carved numbers onto its surfaces.
It had become a dice.
He threw the freshly-made dice to Edward.
The heavy iron dice momentarily pressed down on Prince Edward’s arm, causing his knee to buckle. Relying on the strength of his thigh muscles, Prince Edward slowly regained his balance, his gaze perplexed and questioning as he looked at Si Huaixi.
“The number rolled on the dice represents the remaining time Kyle has to live. Once that deadline is reached, I will take his life. It’s up to you to decide your brother’s fate. Are you going to roll?”
Si Huaixi’s cold and inscrutable eyes flickered with sinister meaning, resembling a devil luring unsuspecting passersby into hell.
Prince Edward had no choice. If he refused, Si Huaixi would kill Kyle in the next second.
The dice in his hand suddenly felt incredibly heavy, causing Prince Edward’s face to darken with a terrible solemnity. Despite knowing that Si Huaixi would still kill Kyle once the time was up, he agreed.
Before rolling the dice, Prince Edward gazed at the numbers on each of the six faces. His eyes held a complex expression as he asked, “What are the rules? If I roll a 1, how much more time will Kyle have?”
“First round, determine the time unit. Rolling a 1 means one second as the time unit. Rolling 1 to 6 corresponds to time units of seconds, minutes, hours, a day, a month, and a year.”
“Second round, determine the number before the time unit. If you roll a 1 in the first round and also roll a 1 in the second round, it means 1 second. After you’ve rolled the final result, within 1 second, Kyle will die.”
“Do you accept?”
Edward held the dice in his hand, the nervous and oppressive emotions causing his muscles to tense and his arm to tremble slightly. The prominent veins on the back of his hand revealed a touch of ferocity, and his spine seemed to be releasing cold sweat due to this unparalled and thrilling challenge.
—His little brother truly was remarkable.
Edward chuckled softly, then lifted his gaze again and said seriously, “Okay, I accept.”
Si Huaixi’s cold pupils remained unchanged, and he raised his chin slightly, indicating for Edward to begin.
Prince Edward didn’t dare to make any small movements, intentionally exerting gentle force to control the dice’s roll. His little brother was watching closely; this time, it all depended on luck.
He gave it a strong toss.
The specially crafted irregular dice soared into the air, reaching almost to the ceiling’s peak before descending in a straight line. With a loud thud, it hit the ground and bounced to a stop at the center of Prince Edward and Si Huaixi.
The number was 6.
That means the unit of time is in years.
Prince Edward’s palms became sweaty with excitement and nervousness. When he saw the unexpectedly large number, his heart skipped a beat. The surging joy caused his blood to boil and flow in reverse. In that moment of revealing the outcome, he understood why those gamblers were obsessed with this meaningless game of probability. The adrenaline-fueled excitement was addictive.
Edward took a moment to calm his breath, then picked up the dice once again. The sweat on his palms moistened the metallic surface as he secretly observed Si Huaixi’s expression.
Si Huaixi remained as cold and indifferent as ever, seemingly unaffected by the result.
Now, even if Edward randomly chose any number for the next round, Kyle would at least have one more year to live. During this year, although he is sorry for his other brother, Si Huaixi, he would keep Kyle hidden away completely.
Edward threw the dice for the second round, seemingly more casual this time after the favorable outcome of the first round. As the dice came to a rest on the ground, he slowly shifted his gaze to look at the number on top.
The number was… 1.
This was somewhat unexpected. He had thrown both the best and the worst numbers, adding a dramatic twist. According to the agreement, Kyle’s life would be spared for one year.
But now the question remained: Would his abnormal brother, Si Huaixi, truly abide by the rules?
Prince Edward shifted his gaze to Si Huaixi, who had witnessed the entire outcome. His emotionless face showed no signs of change, and his pitch-black, intense pupils revealed nothing about his thoughts.
After a moment of stalemate, Si Huaixi began to move, and Prince Edward instinctively followed suit, only to abruptly stop himself.
“One year later.”
Si Huaixi uttered these words and left the monitoring room of the research facility.
Edward instantly understood his meaning. The one-year time limit allowed Kyle to live, but once it expired, Si Huaixi would come to claim Kyle’s life.
Only after Si Huaixi’s figure had completely disappeared from the monitoring room did Edward withdraw his gaze with a tinge of regret. He shifted his focus to his other foolish and inferior brother, Kyle.
A sense of disappointment welled up within him.
Compared to his terrifyingly exceptional and perfect brother, Si Huaixi, Kyle appeared utterly useless. At the slightest setback, he lost his composure, lacking even the means to conceal himself effectively.
Despite having the bloodline of the Odysseus royal family, Kyle put his trust in the foreign Basalom family, falling under their influence. He defied their father’s orders, injuring the accompanying guards during their exile, and ultimately escaped. It was only through his timely arrival that Edward prevented the deaths of his brother.
Edward pushed aside his thoughts and revealed his usual gentle and hypocritical smile. He looked deeply into Kyle’s eyes, who had been silent and hopeless since Edward entered the room, and said, “Kyle, I’m really angry this time… When we return to the palace, I will report this matter to our father. Afterward, don’t delude yourself into thinking you can escape. I will place you somewhere impossible to be found until Si Huaixi is willing to forgive and spare you.”
Kyle’s dim eyes lifted for a moment, then weakly lowered again, concealing the seething hatred growing within him like rampant vines.
Forgiveness?
Impossible. Kyle knew all too well that he had no escape. Wherever he went, Si Huaixi would not spare him. And now, he was nothing more than a helpless cripple. In that place, he could only live in such humiliation.
Edward’s words sounded good. When he saw Edward breaking in to save him, a glimmer of hope had arisen in Kyle’s heart.
But how did Edward shatter that hope, cruelly and decisively disabling his arms, all for the sake of performing for Si Huaixi?
Just like when Edward invaded his room, appearing as the gentle and caring elder brother, but mercilessly breaking his legs, leaving him unable to escape Si Huaixi’s retaliation.
Now, even his arms were useless. Edward wanted to imprison him, turning him into an obedient dog!
Kyle had wanted to die. He couldn’t bear it anymore.
When Si Huaixi held a gun to his head, he knew without a doubt that his brains would be blown apart by the bullet, resulting in an excruciating death.
Yet, in the midst of his impending despair, Edward extended his death sentence by one year. Kyle no longer wanted to die. He wanted Edward to die first. Didn’t he value this little brother of his so much?!
Why not die for me!
The laboratory.
Irin had gradually adapted to her new body, awkwardly learning to walk again after more than a decade of being a ghostly entity, floating in a virtual world. Her body wobbled with each step, as if on the verge of collapsing.
However, Irin was eager to assist Si Huaixi in any way she could. Finally finding her balance, she made her way to the surveillance room where Si Huaixi was located, only to find him already outside.
As Irin watched the figures of Prince Kyle and Prince Edward, who were still alive, she couldn’t hide her surprise and confusion. She looked at Si Huaixi and asked, “Mr. Si, are you just letting them go? They are the ones who killed Brother Pei! They even made Mr. Silver Arc disappear, and they locked me up as an experimental subject for over a decade… If you can’t do it, Irin can help you.”
Irin couldn’t comprehend the anger in her heart. Although she knew that Si Huaixi was the greatest victim in this matter, she couldn’t help but ask sharply, “Brother Pei is in the grave, and your enemies are standing there alive. Don’t you feel sadness and anger?”
Pain flickered in Si Huaixi’s pupils as he replied hoarsely, “I do.”
“Then why…”
“Within a year, I will give you an answer. No one wants them dead more than I do, and they will die in extreme pain and despair.”
Irin hesitated, unable to speak.
But as she looked into Si Huaixi’s restrained and ominous eyes, filled with a sorrow and pain that ordinary people couldn’t bear, and at his bloodshot eyes containing the suppressed tremor of anger, she fell silent.
Irin now began to worry that beneath Si Huaixi’s seemingly calm and indifferent face, his emotions were on the verge of driving him mad.
As they left, Irin noticed Li Zhuo, the agent who had come with Si Huaixi. When Dr. Brown released the experimental subjects, Li Zhuo was terrified and wanted to escape from the laboratory. However, he was trapped on that floor without elevator access, so he could only wander near the elevator, searching for a way out.
When Si Huaixi and Irin arrived, Li Zhuo boldly approached them, nervously and fawningly explaining, “I didn’t expect you to be so capable. I just wanted to find a place to hide without bothering you. I definitely didn’t mean to leave you behind alone.”
Irin pulled up her sleeve, preparing to give this shameless agent a beating.
But Si Huaixi was quicker than her.
With a gunshot, Li Zhuo collapsed, blood pouring from his chest. His sinister and cloudy eyes remained wide open, filled with disbelief and terror in his final moments.
Irin’s eyes widened in shock. She had no knowledge of the grievances between Li Zhuo and Si Huaixi, only that this agent had a bad reputation.
Witnessing Si Huaixi casually ending a person’s life left Irin, a girl who had experienced some hardships in peaceful times, somewhat baffled about how to react.
As Si Huaixi walked away, Irin instinctively followed.
Later, Si Huaixi effortlessly created a hole through the Angelina Cruise Ship, a massive breach spanning from the first floor to the eighteenth floor.
On the top floor, ordinary visitors of the Empire watched the horrifying scenes below the hole, causing many of them to vomit on the spot. The communication lines of the Empire Police Department began ringing nonstop.
