Villain Ch 114. Twisted Hunting Games
The emperor's black orbs rained down upon them like a storm of death. They scrambled to evade the deadly projectiles, their hearts racing with fear and adrenaline.
The orbs exploded on impact, sending shockwaves rippling through the air and shaking the ground beneath their feet. Explosions boomed all around them, filling the air with a deafening roar and a cloud of dust and debris.
The guild members fled in every direction, scattering like frightened animals in the face of an unrelenting predator. They ran through the forest, dodging trees and rocks as they desperately tried to escape the deadly barrage of black orbs.
Bits of dirt and debris rained down upon them, covering their bodies and obscuring their vision. They could barely see where they were going, but they knew that they had to keep moving if they wanted to survive.
The guild members who were hit by the black orbs grunted in pain, their bodies wracked with agony as they struggled to stay on their feet. The wounds were more severe than the previous black lances, and they knew that they couldn't withstand another attack like that.
The guild leader quickly realized that they needed to change their tactics if they were going to survive. He called out to his members, his voice ringing out above the chaos and confusion.
"Spread!" he ordered. Even though the orcs could be a problem for the members, he had no other choice but this. Especially since they didn't know where the attack was coming from yet. He had to admit the devil emperor was very cunning. At this rate, they would lose before even seeing the devil emperor himself.
The members scattered in a panic, obeying the guild leader's orders without hesitation. They ran as fast as they could, trying to avoid the deadly black orbs that rained down upon them from above. The guild leader himself took off at a sprint, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to outpace the deadly attack.
Again, they heard the devil emperor's haunting voice echoing through the forest. His nursery rhyme taunted them, sending shivers down their spines.
"He'll find you all, without a doubt," the emperor sang, his voice carrying on the wind. The words were ominous and the guild leader knew that they were not just words. It was simply his game! His hunting game!
Then, a scream of pain pierced through the air. It was a sound that made their blood run cold. "AHHHH! Help!!!"
The guild leader frantically looked around, trying to pinpoint the location of the screams. His heart raced as he heard the pained cries of his comrades coming from all directions. It was impossible to tell who was in danger and where the danger was coming from.
He could feel the fear and desperation radiating from his guild members as they scattered in panic. They were all confused, making them easy targets for the devil emperor's twisted games.
"And then he'll take you out…" the emperor's voice came again.
The guild leader's heart was pounding so hard, he could feel it in his ears. His hands were shaking, but he couldn't let his fear consume him. He knew he needed to stay calm and come up with a plan. But what? What could he do?
He quickly glanced around to make sure no one was watching him, and then he ducked behind a nearby tree for cover. As he huddled there, his mind raced. He had been in many battles before, but he had never experienced anything like this. The devil emperor was more cunning and ruthless than he had ever imagined. He quickly waved his hand, and his party screen appeared before him.
The sight that greeted him was devastating. The names of his fallen comrades were scrolling across the screen, and he could see that at least twenty of his members had died in the attack. His heart sank, and he closed his eyes for a moment to mourn their loss.
He closed his screen.
"Shit, shit, shit," he muttered under his breath, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a plan. He looked around, trying to pinpoint the location of their enemy, but the devil emperor remained elusive.
His friend, who was by his side, spoke up. "Should we retreat?" he asked, his voice laced with tension.
The guild leader shook his head from side to side. "No," he said firmly. "We need to figure out the emperor's weakness. If we can do that before anyone else, we'll be at a good advantage to become the strongest guild in the game."
"True." The mage nodded in agreement, recognizing the wisdom in the guild leader's words. They were still around the 40-ish level, so it was still easy for them to raise their level. This was an opportunity to investigate the devil emperor and his subordinates, which would undoubtedly prove useful in the late game.
Their conversation broke as the devil emperor's voice suddenly echoed through the forest once again. The same as before, he was singing a creepy nursery rhyme that made their guts shrink.
"Hush little prey, don't you weep. The hunters on the prowl, don't you sleep…"
The song ended with a deafening scream of pain. The sound echoed through the forest, piercing the guild leader's ears and sending chills down his spine. He could feel his palms sweating and his heart beating faster as he realized that the emperor's power was greater than he had initially thought.
His eyes darted frantically in all directions, searching for any sign of the enemy. But all he saw were trees and bushes swaying gently in the breeze. He gritted his teeth in frustration, trying to think of a way to turn the tide of the battle.
"This is bad…" The mage's voice made the guild leader turn to him. The mage looked at him in fear. A hologram screen showed the party list in front of him. "There are only the two of us left …" the mage said in a stammering voice.
