Chapter 192: Paradise

After enjoying a brief laugh with Dal, Alex began working on the last of his walls for the first level of his log cabin. So far, the structure was looking pretty damn good, and with the influx of supplies from the mansion’s stores. He now had what he needed to make some significant progress.

Dal had actually decided not to be an idle plaything, and instead in between making sure that there was a constant influx of fresh water. She began cooking with the ingredients they had available. Weather that was eggs from both jungle fowl and quail, or meat from sambar stags, or wild boars.

Dal began cooking fresh food using those products they had gained from Alex’s hunts. Or at least those portions the staff had preserved with modern methods, and brought back up the hill to be placed in an ice chest to help keep them eat fresh.

By the time Alex was done with his last wall on the first floor, he found that Dal had prepared him not only some beer that was contained in the chest, which was extra calories that he desperately needed, but also some grilled bulgogi made from venison, which she served with rice that she had collected and separated from some native grown plants in the river.

Again, Alex had no idea how this tropical island had rice growing naturally in its river beds other than the fact that this island must have been tailor made by the system to be a paradise on earth. Evidently, the other herbs used in its cooking were also foraged by Dal, proving that this island was intelligently designed to support a large population despite its relatively small size.

Whatever was the reason for this delicious meal, Alex was not complaining, and instead thanked Dal by calling her his goddess, and his soul mate. While hugging her tightly and kissing her on the cheek in a playful manner. This caused the young woman to bat Alex aside and scold him for being an idiot.

‘Idiot! Don’t! You’re going to spill the food!”

Alex, however, ignored the woman’s warnings and continued to harass her until she punched him in the gut. Not with any harmful intent, but as a playful way to get him to finally back off. She couldn’t stop laughing over the whole situation before making a deep comment.

“I kind of wish we were just stranded here... Just the two of us... I mean you have the tools and knowledge to build shelter and hunt food, and I have the foraging knowledge to pick the abundant plant life that exists on this island. These are just a few of the things I have found that are edible! But I also saw some medicinal herbs that can be used as anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, etc.

If you really think about it, the two of us could survive here indefinitely... I just know it! It is almost as if this island is a paradise that should not exist...”

Alex nodded his head while eating his bowl of Korean barbecue venison, and rice. He couldn’t help but admit that Dal had made a solid argument. Though these last few days had been exhausting, they had been some of the most enjoyable of Alex’s young life, or his previous life, for that matter. But he had responsibilities, ambitions, among other things. And he knew he couldn’t simply stay on this island forever.

“That would be amazing... But the real world exists out there, and we are a part of it. Besides, I think after three months here you will be sick of it, and will be dying to get back to the city!”

Alex then wrapped his arm around the woman, before enticing her with an idea of his.

“Hey... So there’s still some daylight left... If I get the base of the second story done, we will have some legitimate shelter to spend the night in. Then from there we can make use of futon that I have waiting in storage and have a nice and cozy spot by the fireplace to make use of...”

Once the base of the second story was fixed, he would indeed have a waterproof, warm shelter for the two of them to enjoy by themselves. He had, after all, finished practically the entire first floor, along with a fireplace and chimney that he had constructed over the past few days out of stones he found on the island and shaped himself with his tools. The stones were cemented together with roman concrete that he had made himself. So it was about as sturdy as a fireplace and chimney could get.

Of course, Dal wasn’t stupid enough to fall for Alex’s tricks, as she pointed at the three glaring holes that would allow for the elements to intrude upon them. While calling Alex out on his bullshit.

“That sounds lovely, but pray tell Alex, what exactly are you going to do about the complete and utter lack of windows, or the door which you also have yet to add but have already cut out the frames for?”

Alex looked over at what Dal had described and sighed heavily in defeat. The girl was completely right. He had indeed failed to seal off the first floor from the elements. Thus, he looked at her and made a comment that made them both laugh.

“You are way too smart for your own good. Did you know that?”

After the young couple had finished laughing, Dal leaned in close to Alex and whispered something to him that he found enticing.

“That doesn’t mean the two of us can’t enjoy some time in the shelter you already have established...”

With this said, Alex picked the girl up and carried her over to the primitive A Frame shelter, where he tossed her onto the wooden cot before stripping out of his clothes entirely. The two of them would enjoy the early hours of the night in each other’s loving embrace before finally getting some much needed shut eye.

By the time the morning came, they would both be ready to eat a fresh and delicious breakfast that Dal had once more cooked from the meat of Alex’s hunts, and from the abundance of edible wild plant life that she could collect and cook from this island paradise.

One thing was certain, when this cabin was finally completed, Alex would not mind enjoying the first night with Dal. Then again, there were another 22 women who he would also want to spend his first night in the cabin with. At the end of the day, this island truly was a paradise on earth.
