Chapter 7 - On Your Own

Ruhan was closely paying attention to her changing expression. From angry to shocked then she became panicky.

Ruhan chuckled. He clearly underetood what she was thinking.

Actually she was not wrong. He did instruct everyone to leave the office at 1pm. Exactly 5minutes after Lisa entered into the office. Otherwise the vigilant Lisa would never enter into an empty office.

Anyway, Lisa misunderstood his intentions. He didn't want to force himself on her. That would be too boring. He just wanted to play with her, scare her a little. As he didn't want his employee to see the ugly side of him, he gave them a break.

But seeing Lisa scared like a little kitten, he could not suppress the urge to bully her.

"Don't...don't come over", Lisa warned Ruhan when she saw him approaching.

She regretted that she didn't keep anything in her purse that could be used as a weapon.

Her mother instructed her to keep a pepper spray in her purse always.

Ruhan was amused to see the scared kitten trying to act brave.

He reached out to her and suddenly grabbed er wrist. He was so fast that Lisa couldn't react in time.

"Let go", Lisa said coldly. Her survival instinct had already kicked in. Although she wasn't as strong as him, there was no way she would go down without a fight. There was a violent side in her that was kept hidden from everyone's eyes. As long as someone crossed her bottom line, she could even claim their lives without any remorse.

However, Ruhan didn't know about it. He didn't put her warning in his eyes.

Seeing the kitten ready to fight him, Ruhan started laughing again.

"Relax dear, why are you so scared of me? Did you think I would force myself on you? Is that how you see me? What does that Miraz have that I don't?"

Ruhan said with a sad voice, as if he was heartbroken.

"Get your filthy hand off me right now," Lisa was already losing her patience. Disgust was written allover her face.

"Little girl, I am an honest man trying to fulfill our needs as well as ensure mutual benefit. Must you act this way? You can actually refuse you know. Isn't it just you brother's life? People die everyday. " Ruhan let go of her hand but didn't forget to remind Lisa the reason of her visit today.

Sure enough. Lisa's face turned pale. Due to anger she had already forgotten the issue.

What would she do? Should she let go of her pride and beg Ruhan to help her brother?

But she knew that he would never agree. He would even take pleasure in her misfortune.

"You will get retribution Ruhan", Lisa threw the last sentence as she quickly left the hospital.

Ruhan gave a devilish smile and mumbled, "Little girl I will wait for you to punish me. Don't disappoint me."

He sighed. Things we have to do for our amusement!!!

He called his partner in crime. The little girl is full of surprises. She might really sacrifice her brother.

If she is being confused, he didn't mind to help her making a decision.

Lisa walked around the hospital in a daze. She needed to calm her mind. There was no way she could go home in this state. It would take seconds for her family to realize that something is wrong.

She needed to think logically and think about countermeasures. There was no way she would agree to Ruhan's proposal. Or she thought so.

Her mother was waiting for her at home. Lisa wanted to dive into her arm and cry her heart out. But somehow she couldn't bring herself to say anything.

It was a choice between the life of her two children. She didn't to burden her mother with this choice.

No matter what. She would not give up. She will find an alternative.

It was destined to be a sleepless night. Lisa kept tossing around. Later she gave up sleeping and went to plan approach.

However, Ruhan was one step earlier than her and started attacking LiCorp to block Lisa's ways of retreating.

"Little giri, let's play a game. I bet you will break within a month. Do you think you will win this bet?

Well if you surprise this young master and as long as you are not tainted by that brat Miraz, I might make an exception and keep you for myself." Ruhan gave a charming smile. He was eager to see how this girl would react when she learnt about the surprises he prepared for her.

Lisa got only one hour of sleep and went to the office early.

She wanted to discuss strategy with their business advisors. Most of the people had already resigned during the crisis.

But Lisa was satisfied. Because it filtered the people who were really loyal to LiCorp.

"Madam, bad news," her secretary Mina said with a gloomy face.

She was the daughter of Mr. Akter's driver. He was very loyal to Mr. Akter. So after his death Mr. Akter took care of Mina. He basically sponsored her. So during crisis she sacrificed her prospect of better future and joined LiCorp to assist Lisa.

"What happened?" Lisa didn't expect any bad news this early in the morning.

"Several of our potential clients who agreed to collaborate with us emailed us to cancel our deal," Mina said angrily.

"Why?" Lisa felt uneasy, "Did we make any mistake?"

"No. They didn't show any cause. Moreover, many of our clients are breaching the contract complaining that our products are not up to the mark. " Mina was still checking the emails.

She was surprised to see the inbox. There was 2-3 times more unread email than usual. Now she fears that most of them are about contract cancellation.

Lisa started to feel panic. If they could really prove their claim about supplying faulty products then LiCorp couldn't even demand compensation from them for breaching contract.

Lisa tried to calm herself down. "Call an emergency board meeting."

Mina went to inform everyone. But soon came back with a pale face.

"Madam...", she hesitated but didn't say anything. She didn't know how to break the bad news.

Lisa was annoyed. They were already at a deadline and this girl was still wasting time., "Is there anything else?"

Mina gathered courage and dropped the bomb, "the H.R notified. Most of our advisors and senior employees quit their job. They already emailed their resignation letter."

"What do you mean?" Lisa exclaimed. If it is really true then how will she solve the problem they are facing? Who will sign with a company that lacks employees? Moreover she is still too young and inexperienced to deal with present crisis. Why would they abandon her at a time like this? They were supposed to be loyal. Moreover all of them resigned at the same time as if it were premeditated. They knew that the company would face problems.

"I meant that you are now on your own madam"
