Zhou Liying changed into a black coloured mourning dress. She looked at her face in the mirror and saw her eyes were puffy because of crying. They were also red.
She took a deep breath and came out of the hotel room. She looked at Mu Yuehan.
"I am sorry for your loss." He bowed toward her and looked down with hurt in his eyes.
"Look at you, even you are sad at his death, unlike my uncle and aunt." She scoffed and made her way toward the elevator, followed by Mu Yuehan.
She pulled out her phone and decided to give a call to her uncle, to tell him about her grandpa.
"He is no more." She took a deep breath to stop the sobs from leaving her lips. "I am going to his memorial right now. I hope you will handle everything."
"Don't worry about work. You tell me, how are you feeling?" Zhou Yonge asked in a fatherly tune. There was worry and concern in his voice. "Do you need my shoulder to cry upon?"
"No need, I am feeling alright. Truthfully, I was already prepared for this today." Zhou Liying looked out from the glass of the elevator. There were unshed tears in her eyes. "At least, I was there when he took his last breath. I will not regret anything now."
Zhou Yonge smiled sadly over the phone, understanding her agony fully well. "I will be there to give my biddings to him."
"Mm."
Zhou Liying ended the call and looked at Mu Yuehan. "You will not be coming with me to the memorial."
"Why not? In my opinion, it can be dangerous for you to be alone at the memorial. What if some family member tried to attack you?" He protested.
Mu Yuehan knew Zhou Liying was not in the right state of her mind. She was broken because of her loss. She was trying to be strong but she was not so strong.
For heaven's sake, she had lost one of the family members who was closest to her heart!
Mu Yuehan had seen her broken state on Juju island, he knew, that leaving her alone was not safe. She'd die in her sorrow!
"Don't worry about me. I know how to protect myself. But if you came with me, my so-called family would start attaching your name to me. They'd try to create a scene and I don't want such a scene in the memorial of my grandpa. I hope you understand."
She had already embarrassed her grandpa in front of the extended family during her so-called engagement. Many relatives had seen or heard Qin Yutong blaming Zhou Liying for seducing Fan Yifeng.
All those relatives had said crude words not only to her but to her grandpa and she did not want that episode again. She knew, that no relative would believe that Mu Yuehan was her bodyguard. They all would try to attach her name to him in a dirty way.
She did not want that, not when everyone should be crying for the loss of Qin Yanze, sending him to heaven with a light heart.
"Understood, miss." Mu Yuehan sighed.
"Don't worry, I will give a clear order to my shadow guards to look after me."
**
Mu Yuehan dropped Zhou Liying at the city memorial. It was a huge hall where dead bodies were placed in a glass box with all the chemicals, to prevent it from smelling.
Mattresses were placed on the floor so that visitors could sit on them. It was a huge hall which could accommodate as many as hundreds of guests. The hall had many windows and doors, to let the fresh air inside.
Behind the memorial hall was the huge land where the cremation ceremony took place.
Zhou Liying took a deep breath and entered the memorial hall. The dead body of Qin Yanze was already shifted here. Qin family had also arrived. Many relatives were also present in the hall.
Qin family was crying bitterly, especially Huang Jiayi because of the presence of the guests. Zhou Liying sneakered when she saw their act.
She walked toward the front of the hall and took her seat, right opposite to the glass coffin. She looked at the cold body of her grandfather and more tears left her eyes.
She pulled her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She took deep open-mouth breaths, to stop her loud sobs. She again wanted to cry, seeing him gone.
It was not a dream. Her grandfather was dead!
"Isn't she Qin Tian?"
"It looks like it's hers. She is changed completely. She looks different from what I remember."
"But what is she doing here? I thought she ran away."
"Maybe she came back for the properties. We can't forget, uncle Qin has a lot of properties under his name. He always denied to sale them."
"I don't think so. Look at how she is crying. I think she is back to meet uncle in his last days. Maybe she loved him."
"If she loved him, why did she bring so much embarrassment on him? Did she not know it is a big crime to be a third party?"
Zhou Liying paid no heed to what her other relatives were talking about her. She knew, most of them were here to meet each other or to gossip. Hardly anyone of them was here with a heavy heart that Qin Yanze was gone!
And wasn't this the true reality of life?
Wasn't the death of a person treated as a festive where others could meet after a long time?
Many relatives and friends came to visit Qin Yanze for the last time. Qin Yanze was a named businessman of his time so many businessmen came to meet him.
Many visitors were shocked to see Zhou Liying. They were more shocked to see her seated on the main sear, mourning for her grandpa.
Zhou Yonge, as promised arrived in the evening. He smiled at Zhou Liying, giving his support in that smile, before leaving. He wanted to hug her, to give her support but he stopped himself because of the presence of other visitors.
By the time it was falling dark, Zhou Liying started to feel dizzy because of hunger and thirst.
She cursed the Qin family. She was mourning her grandpa, so wasn't it the duty of the Qin family to ask her for some food or water? At least, ask if she wanted to go to the restroom.
'Heartless bunch of peeps.' She muttered to herself.
