I was able to make glass as I planned originally with my [Alchemy BOX].
Sia helped me, and with 3 days of work, we made a glass greenhouse. I planted 4 supports.
Next to two of them, I placed the Cron plants. But I used the [Alchemy BOX] to help them grow faster, so they are pretty big now.
Ain: “But if I try to make them grow up to harvest time, they become so wilted and shriveledー”
I’ve been using my [Alchemy BOX] to make fully grown fruits ripe, but I’ve never used it to make a plant grow from a seed all the way to harvesting. This was my first time to attempt it.
And the results were terrible. They looked like corn that you leave inside a fridge for about a month.
Sia: “GAU-GAU”
Ain: “Hm? The sky?” Sia is pointing towards the sky above.
Today, the weather was good, the sun was out, and its rays felt warm and great.
Oh yeah. That’s right. For a plant to grow, you need sunlight.
No matter how much dirt and water you put inside the box, you can’t place sunlight inside.
I tried the same thing with carrots, and they technically do grow, but they are all too small and withered.
Ain: “Then let’s help the vegetables grow to a certain point, and we’ll let it grow in the garden. I think it’s worth a shot.” Sia: “Uuu”
I can collect as many seeds from the fields covered in weeds. And I would place a few of those seeds inside my BOX, and I successfully helped it grow to a certain point and stop the process.
I would hand the plants to Sia, and she would efficiently plant those around the greenhouse.
By the time evening came, all the plants were planted, and now we just had to wait for them to grow.
It’s time to go back to the inn and prepare dinner.
Ain: “We don’t have too much Cron powder left. Let’s save as much as we can for now.”
Tonight, we are steaming potatoes.
Sia: “Uuuuuuuuuuu”
Ain: “Potatoes and yams are full of carbohydrates so it’s good, right?” To be honest, I wanted more spices for flavor. Yams can be eaten by itself, but just using salt with potatoes was just lacking.
If only we had butterー or cheeseー
If only there were cows, goats, or sheep. I hope any one of them would be living on this island.
Ain: “Sia, did you see cows, goats, or sheep anywhere?” Sia: “Uu? Uuuuuuu……..AH!”
So she makes those sounds when she’s thinking. But just now, it looks like she did see something similar.
She leaves through the inn’s front door and gestures for me to follow her. I go and find her pointing towards the west mountains.
Mountains…….I guess Mountain Goats would be found on the mountainside.
Ain: “Okay, Sia. Tomorrow, we’ll go look for Mountain Goats. And if we can make to the summit, we might be able to see the whole island from there.” Sia: “Guh” <<<<>>>>
Though we said we’ll conserve the Cron powder, we still made naan for breakfast. I place thinly sliced rabbit meat and thinly cut cabbage inside and wrap it in cloth. I prepare two of these, and for dessert, I prepare some carrot sticks.
With a water inside a bottle made of wood, we depart!
Ain: “Maybe we should pick some apples on the way.” Sia: “Oooohhhhー”
We take about 2 apples from the Apple Orchard as we continue to head towards the mountain.
The mountain looked to be about 300 meters (~1000 ft.) tall. From the mid-region to below, there are trees growing, but above that is just a bald mountain.
I think Mountain Goats have an image of living near cliffs. I wonder if they would be in the bald region.
Soーー
Ain: “Huh…..so we made it all the way to the top.”
Sia: “Uuー”
Ain: “Well, anyways, let’s eat lunch here. To the west…..”
The west side of the island was also a forest. And the ocean resided beyond that.
The island turned out to be pretty small overall.
As long as humans are alive, they will eat. If they are eating, they usually use fire.
If you use a fireplace, you’ll usually see smoke, and I thought I could see smoke from these high places. So if there is no smoke, there’s probably nobody else living on this island.
In fact, I can only see forests on the westside of the island. If I turn around, I can see the abandoned town.
Ain: “I’m sure there were people living here before, but now I guess it’s just an abandoned island.”
Sia: “AGU-AGU. UNGU.” Ain: “.......hey, you better not eat my portion.”
I better eat my part before she’s done eating hers.
Once we’re done eating, we’ll resume our Mountain Goat search.
We’ll take a different route when we descend the mountain and take a good look around. If there are any moving shadows, we’ll go take a look, and since it was just a Monster, we take it down.
Ain: “(sigh)......man, they’re hard to find.”
Sia: “UGUuu…...Uuu”
Ain: “Did you find them?!”
Sia ran off on her own, and I followed.
She must be heading towards something in that direction. I wonder what it is?
I see something ahead and realize that it’s some sort of sign.
I wonder if the former island’s inhabitants used it to mark something?
When I take a look at the sign….
