Chapter 68 Secret Behind The Dimensional Gate And The Battlefield
"What? Alister awakened a 0-star talent! That's impossible! No one has ever awakened a 0-star talent in all history!"
After hearing what the receptionist said, the first to comment was Bell who heard of its absurdity.
In response, Alister replied truthfully, "Yes, I have indeed awakened a 0-star talent. But for some reason, I seemed to have awakened a superpower and I can use another type of energy other than mana."
"I don't know if this energy is more potent or weaker than mana, but at least I could use it to fuel my superpower so it wasn't a problem for me to display the power of a 9th-level transcendent despite the lack of mana."
Hearing Alister's reply, Bell and the receptionist discovered that possessing a different type of energy other than mana might be absurd, but at least it was plausible enough compared to possessing a superpower yet not having the energy to use it.
They didn't doubt that Alister was lying to them since compared to those who didn't experience what Alister had experienced, Alister's words sounded more plausible.
After all, other than what Alister had explained to them, they couldn't think of another reason for Alister's power being at 9th-level transcendent yet not possessing any mana in his body.
In the end, Bell sighed, "Forget it. It's the first time we have ever encountered such a situation and Alister's situation is unheard of. Only those Transcendent Saints might have an idea about it but they are busy preventing the powerhouses from the otherworld from invading this world."
Since Bell said so, the receptionist didn't linger on that matter anymore and only asked again, "You have confirmed that Alister's power is at 9th-level, right? Can you verify it and allow Alister to get his rank in the Transcendent Association as a 9th-level transcendent?"
In response, Bell immediately replied, "Yes, I can assure you of that. The cyborg that Alister had fought was at the peak stage of 8th-level. However, Alister not only managed to come out unscathed from his battle against that cyborg, he even overpowered the cyborg to the extent of preventing the cyborg's self-destruction and easily disassembling the body of the cyborg."
"Coupled with my battle instinct feeling that I can't seem to defeat Alister, this only means that Alister is indeed a 9th-level transcendent despite the lack of mana in his body."
Hearing such high-sounding praise from a 9th-level transcendent like Bell, the receptionist started processing the documents for Alister's ID and rank in the Transcendent Association.
Alister had already handed the cyborg parts to Bell. However, Bell didn't hand over the cyborg parts to the receptionist.
When Alister inquired about that, Bell responded, "The cyborg parts are quite precious as they will allow the Transcendent Association to gain an insight towards the weakness and power of the cyborgs."
"So I will personally hand it over to the Transcendent King who is in charge of research and development in the Transcendent Association."
After Alister and Bell finished their chat, the receptionist handed over an ID card to Alister.
The ID card has Alister's face on it, the logo of the Transcendent Association, as well as some information regarding Alister coupled with Alister's current power level which was highlighted in the ID card.
After handing the ID card to Alister, the receptionist explained, "This is your Transcendent ID, an approved identification document from both the government and the Transcendent Association."
"You can use this to access the website exclusive to verified Transcendents. Almost everything a transcendent needs is on the website such as shops and auctions for resources for power progression, information regarding otherworld monsters, and many more."
"You can explore more of the features of this card as well as your privileges as a verified Transcendent on the exclusive website by using your unique ID card number to create an account on that website. And since you are a 9th-level transcendent, you will have more authority to access features that aren't available to transcendents of the lower rank."
"However, you are obligated to respond to the call of the Transcendent Association during times of emergencies or world crisis. Otherwise, failure to attend to those situations will revoke your Transcendent ID and possibly be met with more punishments."
When the receptionist mentioned the obligation of a transcendent, Alister asked for clarification, "Elaborate about what is considered as emergencies. And if so, can I not attend it but not have my Transcendent ID revoked?"
As if accustomed to such questions, the receptionist replied fluently, "Emergencies include but are not limited to the sudden appearance of dimensional gates or dealing with transcendents who had gone against the government and Transcendent Association."
"As for the world crisis, it's mostly the lack of powerhouses or combatants to maintain the defense line on the battlefield. Or if a monster king and above started rampaging in this world."
After finishing his explanation, the receptionist added, "Have you ever wondered about the cause of the appearance of dimensional gates as well as the so-called battlefield mentioned by us transcendents?"
"The battlefield is held in a realm which is located in the gap between this world and the otherworld. Bypassing that realm will cause a dimensional gate, allowing the monster from the otherworld to invade this world."
"Those monsters who had invaded this world are the ones who managed to slip passed through the defense line of the Transcendents on the battlefield. Compared to those monsters, the transcendents could barely keep up with their monstrous quantity."
"Although the transcendents could also bypass that realm to enter the world of those monsters, it wasn't a wise decision. We had already done that before, but none had ever returned alive."
"Those who had managed to return alive were transformed into those cyborgs with no memories of their past. They are not much different from a bunch of killing machines."
Hearing the receptionist's explanation, Alister couldn't help but interject, "Doesn't that mean that the world where those monsters had come from is technologically advanced? Had the Transcendent Association ever thought of the possibility that those monsters are just failed experiments of the otherworld?"
