The same night when Jiang Yuyan and Lu Lijun were dealing with their things, two more people had something going on between them.
"Today is the day when his brother passed away," said Jake as he looked at Noah, who sat beside him on the sofa.
Noah nodded. "I hope he is fine. Didn't get to meet him the entire day."
"Must have preferred to stay by president Lu's side," Jake added.
"Should we call him?" Noah asked.
"Let's not disturb him. He is a tough guy to be fine on his own," Jake countered.
"I am just worried about him."
Jake smiled lightly, "You can keep that worry for me. I won't mind if you keep calling me to ask if I am fine."
Noah noticed that smile and said, "You are always fine."
"I am not. If you can see clearly, I am not fine at this moment either."
"You are weird these days," Noah sighed and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Jake asked.
"It's time for me to go out."
"Alone?"
Noah nodded, "I can't take you to Nicole's home. It's my private time."
"Are you going to her?" Jake asked as his expressions turned grave.
"Is there any issue with that?" Noah asked sarcastically.
Jake nodded. "There is." Though he looked calm, his eyes looked colder.
"What?" Noah asked as if it didn't matter, even if Jake had any issues with what Noah did.
"You can't leave unless you give me what you promised yesterday," Jake answered.
"What promise? Didn't I give you what you asked for by not going to Nicole's place last night?" Noah questioned as he gave Jake a narrowed-eyed look.
"That was just my normal wish. I didn't say that was in exchange for the promise you made to fulfill what I want."
Noah frowned and gritted his teeth as he looked at Jake, who sat calmly on the couch while leaning back and folding his one leg over the other as his hand rested on the armrest of the couch. Jake looked like he was doing nothing wrong but asking for what was rightfully his.
Noah gritted his teeth and clenched his fists in annoyance., "Your highness, what do you want from this lowly peasant?"
Jake was still calm. "Why are you so worked up? Not like I would ask for something you can't give me."
"I am afraid, whatever I give, his highness might not feel content," Noah replied.
"I would like everything that comes from you," said Jake as his eyes turned calmer and full of expectation.
Noah chuckled hearing it. "Those sweet words you can keep for your future lover. Let's get it done quickly so I can go to my woman. What do you want?"
"Are you sure you are ready to give me whatever I asked?" Jake asked as his sight held the hidden warning.
"I believe you won't ask anything which I am not capable of giving and…."
"Kiss me," came the demanding words from Jake even before Noah could finish his talk.
This demand left Noah flabbergasted, and he felt he must have heard something wrong. "What?"
"Kiss me," Jake repeated.
Noah couldn't help but exclaim, "Are you nuts?"
"I am sane," said Jake as he stood up from the sofa and stood facing Noah.
"Are you drunk or what?" Noah asked, looking into Jake's eyes in disbelief.
"Do you smell alcohol on me?" Jake questioned, staring back at him.
"Then you must have lost your mind to ask for some crap."
"I remember you enjoying this crap last time when we kissed."
Noah, who confidently stared into Jake's eyes till now, was taken aback and exclaimed hesitantly, "I-I was drunk at that time and lost my mind…." Noah spurted out but then stopped realizing what he had just said.
Jake smirked as his sight didn't leave the startled face of Noah, "So you remember it.
Noah got back to his senses, "O-of course I remember it. I was drunk, not dead."
Jake was still calm as he enjoyed how Noah looked like a thief who got caught, "Admit it that you liked it."
"It was because my drunk self assumed you were Nicole," Noah countered.
Jake looked at him calmly as he already expected this defense statement from Noah. "But now we are not drunk. Let's see if you enjoy it the same way."
Noah stepped back, "I would have if you were the woman."
"Then do it for the same promise you made yesterday to give me what I want."
"I can't."
"I didn't ask anything that you are not capable of giving me."
"This I just can't," Noah stepped back. "We are friends and don't wish to do it even as a joke."
"Fine then. I can't force you. You are free to go to your woman." Saying Jake turned to go back to the couch and mumbled, "Such a chicken."
Noah heard what he said and held Jake's hand to turn him back to face him. "What did you just say?" Noah asked, glaring into Jake's eyes.
Jake too coldly stared back at him. "Did the truth hurt?"
"Take your words back," Noah warned, still gripping Jake's hands tightly.
Jake didn't buzz. "Why does it matter what I call you? Just go to your woman and keep showing her you are not a chicken."
Noah let go of Jake's hand and gripped his collar as he glared at him. Noah was angry, and Jake found it surprising. What was there to be so angry about when it's just a normal teasing remark.
"Chicken, huh?" Noah growled with gritted teeth and pushed Jake back on the sofa behind him even before Jake could understand what Noah was up to.
Jake fell back on the sofa, and Noah went to him as he pushed Jake back on the sofa, who tried to get up. Noah looked different from his usual self as the anger took over him, and he glared at Jake.
Jake couldn't understand what's gotten into Noah as it was rare to see him this angry.
"Noah...Ummm.."
