CH.550 Deck Master Tournament, part 5
Time for the finals.
Indigo is going against Maiko.
Gladiator Beasts vs. Fortune Ladies.
Honestly speaking, I think this duel will come down to how quickly Maiko can get Future Visions on the field, as it will slow down Indigo a lot. And Indigo will have to try and deal with the field spell as soon as possible.
But enough about my opinions, let’s start the match.
I flipped a coin, Indigo called tails, but the coin landed heads, so Maiko got to pick who went first and she chose to go first.
During her standby phase, her deck master gained a level.
She immediately activated Future Visions, normal summoned Fortune Lady Light, which got banished. Used Light’s effect to special summon Earth, set two cards, and ended her turn.

Indigo’s turn, and during her standby, Earth and Master gained a level. And since Earth gained a level, Indigo took 400 damage.
Indigo used Gladiator Proving Ground to add Gladiator Beast Samnite to her hand. She then used Gladiator Beast's Respite to return Samnite and Hoplomus to her deck, so she could draw three cards.

She then summoned Gladiator Beast Equeste, but it was banished by Future Visions.
And since Test Tiger must start a chain, you can’t use it to escape effects like Future Visions, so Equeste got banished until Indigo’s next standby phase.

Maiko’s turn and she drew a card. During her standby phase, her banished Fortune Lady Light returned. Then all her Fortune Ladies gained a level, and because of Earth, Indigo took 400 damage.
Maiko then played Sorcerer Support to add Fortune Lady Wind to her hand and summoned it. Wind got banished by Future Visions, but not before its effect activated. Maiko targeted all three of Indigo’s set cards, and destroyed them. But in response, Indigo used her set Master Seal so Fortune Lady Master’s deck master abilities are negated until Indigo’s next end phase. The other face downs were Gladiator Beast War Chariot and Gladiator Lash.

Maiko went into her battle phase and attacked directly with both of her monsters for a total of 3600 damage.
She then ended her turn.

Indigo’s turn, and she drew a card. To which Maiko responded by activating her set Master Seal, so Indigo’s deck master was out of commission until Maiko’s next end phase.
During her standby phase, Indigo’s Gladiator Beast Equeste returned to the field, but because of Master Seal, the Fortune Ladies didn’t gain a level.
Indigo normal summoned Gladiator Beast Laquari. She then fused together Laquari and Equeste to summon Gladiator Beast Essedarii.

Which Maiko countered by activating her set card, Bottomless Trap Hole. Indigo couldn’t do anything about it and her fusion was banished.

Maiko’s turn. She drew a card and during her standby phase, not only did her Fortune Lady Wind return, but all her Fortune Ladies gained a level. And because Earth gained a level, Indigo took 400 burn.

Indigo’s turn. She drew a card, and Maiko’s deck master gained a level. Maiko also activated Master Seal, so Test Tiger couldn’t be used until her next end phase.
That didn’t seem to bother Indigo too much. She normal summoned Gladiator Beast Murmillo and moved to her battle phase.
She used Laquari to attack Maiko’s face down, which was Fortune Lady Water.

She then attacked directly with Spartacus, but Maiko summoned her deck master to defend. It is level 6, so it has 3600 attack. Indigo called off her attack and moved to her main phase 2.
She fused together the three Gladiator Beasts on her field to summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos.

[Note: Tournament Heraklinos does have the effect that it can be returned to the extra deck and Indigo can summon 3 Glad Beasts from her main deck to take its place.]

Also, both of the equip spells that were equipped to Laquari returned to Indigo’s hand and she equipped them to her Heraklinos.
She then ended her turn.

Maiko’s turn. She drew and her Fortune Lady Master gained a level, and 600 attack.
Maiko moved directly to her battle phase, attacking Heraklinos (3800) with Fortune Lady Master. (4200)
The attack went through, but Gladiator Beast's Battle Archfiend Shield was destroyed instead of Heraklinos. Indigo did take 400 damage though.
Maiko then set a card and ended her turn.

Indigo’s turn. She drew, Fortune Lady Master gained a level.
Indigo just used her deck master to return Heraklinos to the extra deck and summoned three Gladiator Beasts to take its place. She summoned Octavius, Hoplomus and Murmillo. Also, Battle Gladius returned to Maiko’s hand.
But before their effects activated, Maiko activated her set card, Fortune Ladies’ Resilience. It is a custom card I made, and while it is active, if a Fortune Lady monster you control would be destroyed, by battle or card effect, you can instead reduce its level by 3. Also, you can banish Fortune Ladies’ Resilience from the GY to special summon a Fortune Lady from the GY.
Since there no longer was a face down spell or trap on the field, Octavius’ effect couldn’t activate. And while Murmillo could target and destroy Fortune Lady Master, Maiko used her continuous spell to reduce its level by 3, and it wasn’t destroyed.
But sadly, because of the 8 counters on Cage of the Gladiator Beasts, Octavius was already stronger than Fortune Lady Master, now that Fortune Lady Master’s level dropped to 5.
So Indigo used Test Tiger twice. She returned Hoplomus to the deck to summon out Gladiator Beast Spartacus, and she also searched for Gladiator Beast's Battle Manica with it. And she returned Murmillo to summon Gladiator Beast Laquari.

She then entered her battle phase.
She attacked Fortune Lady Master (level 5 / 3000 ATK) with Octavius (3500 ATK). Maiko used Fortune Ladies’ Resilience to save her deck master, but its level got reduced to just 2. Maiko also took 500 damage.
Indigo then attacked with Laquari (3100 ATK). And since Fortune Lady Master (level 2 / 1200 ATK) was down to level 2, Maiko couldn’t save her deck master with Fortune Ladies’ Resilience. And her life points also ran out, so she lost the duel.
