CH.551 Deck Master Tournament, part 6
To the last duel of this match. And since Maiko lost duel 2, she got to pick which one of them went first, and she chose to go first.
So the duel began.
And as always, during her standby phase, Maiko’s deck master gained a level.
Maiko started her turn by playing Terraforming to add Future Visions to her hand. She then used Sorcerer Support to add Fortune Lady Light to her hand.
Spoiler[collapse]
Maiko activated Future Visions. Then she normal summoned Fortune Lady Light, which got banished by Future Visions, so its effect activated, which Maiko used to special summon Fortune Lady Earth from her deck. She then used Fortune's Future to return Fortune Lady Light to her GY and drew two cards.
Spoiler[collapse]
She then set a card before ending her turn.
Indigo’s turn, and after drawing a card, during her standby phase, Fortune Ladies gain a level. And since Earth gained a level, Indigo took 400 damage.
Indigo started by activating her Field Spell, Colosseum - Cage of the Gladiator Beasts. She then set a monster face down, and two spell/traps, and ended her turn.

Maiko’s turn. She drew and during her standby, Fortune Ladies happened and because of Earth, Indigo took 400 damage.
She then normal summoned Fortune Lady Wind, which naturally got banished by Future Visions. But before she got banished, Wind’s effect triggered, so since Maiko controlled 2 Fortune Ladies, she could destroy two spells and/or traps Indigo controlled. She targeted Indigo’s Field Spell and one of her face downs.

In response, Indigo activated the targeted set card, which was Master Seal. So for the rest of her turn, and all of Indigo’s turn, Maiko’s deck master’s abilities are negated. But still, Colosseum - Cage of the Gladiator Beasts was destroyed.
Spoiler[collapse]
Maiko then attacked Indigo’s face down monster with her Fortune Lady Earth. The face down was a Test Ape, so after it was destroyed by battle, Indigo could special summon a level 4 or lower Gladiator Beast from her deck. She summoned Gladiator Beast Hoplomus in defense.
Spoiler[collapse]
Maiko moved to her main phase 2, and as soon as she could, Indigo used Test Tiger. She returned Hoplomus to her main deck and special summoned Gladiator Beast Murmillo to take its place. And since Murmillo was special summoned by the effect of a Glad Beast, Indigo was able to target a monster on the field and destroy it. She naturally targeted Fortune Lady Earth.
Spoiler

Indigo then used Test Tiger again, returning Murmillo to her deck and special summoning
Gladiator Beast Bestiari. She used Bestiari’s effect to destroy Future Visions.
And then she used Test Tiger one more time, returning Bestiari to her deck to special summon Gladiator Beast Octavius. And with Octavius, she attempted to destroy Maiko’s set card, but Maiko responded by activating the set card, Inherited Fortune. So on her next standby phase, Maiko can special summon up to two Fortune Lady monsters from her hand.
Spoiler[collapse]
Maiko set one card face down and ended her turn.

Indigo’s turn, and for once, since Fortune Lady Master still had her effect negated by Master Seal, no Fortune Ladies gained levels.
Indigo started by playing Gladiator Proving Ground, which she used to add Gladiator Beast Hoplomus. She then summoned it.

She used Test Tiger to return Gladiator Beast Hoplomus to the deck, and special summoned Gladiator Beast Bestiari. Which triggered Bestiari’s effect, so Indigo could destroy Maiko’s set card. In response, Maiko activated her set Waboku, so she’ll take no damage this turn.

Indigo ended her turn.

Indigo then returned Gyzarus to the extra deck with Test Tiger and summoned Gladiator Beast Equeste and Gladiator Beast Laquari. And since Equeste was summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast monster, Indigo could add a Gladiator Beast card from her GY to her hand. She returned her Field Spell, Colosseum - Cage of the Gladiator Beasts and activated it.

She then attacked directly with her two Glad Beasts, inflicting 3700 damage to Maiko.
During her main phase 2, Indigo returned her two Gladiator Beasts to the deck, summoning Gladiator Beast Dimacari and Gladiator Beast Darius to take their places. Darius’ effect summoned Gladiator Beast Octavius from the GY, but because its effects are negated, Test Tiger can’t interact with it.
Spoiler[collapse]
Indigo then used Test Tiger to return Dimacari to the deck, so she could summon back Laquari. This did get her Field Spell an extra counter, but because Laquari was previously summoned this turn, Laquari didn’t gain the boost in attack.
But that didn’t bother Indigo, because she fused together her three Gladiator Beasts to summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos.
Spoiler
[Note: Heraklinos does have the effect that it can be returned to the extra deck and Indigo can summon 3 Glad Beasts from her main deck to take its place.]

With that, Indigo ended her turn.

Maiko’s turn, and after drawing, her deck master gained a level.
She started by banishing Master Seal from her GY. This negated Test Tiger’s effects for the turn.
She then summoned out her deck master. Because it was level 9, it had 5400 attack points.
She attacked Maiko’s Gladiator Beast Heraklinos (3300 ATK) with it, but before the attack connected, she activated Time Passage, increasing Fortune Lady Master’s level to 12, and its attack to 6600. Or that would have happened had Indigo not used Heraklinos effect to negate Time Passage. But since Indigo did negate it, she only took 2100 damage, not 3300.
Maiko set a card face down and ended her turn.

Indigo’s turn. She drew a card and Maiko’s Fortune Lady Master gained a level, and 600 attack points.
Indigo normal summoned Gladiator Beast Samnite, but immediately returned it to the deck with Test Tiger, summoning Gladiator Beast Murmillo to take its place. She then activated Murmillo’s effect to destroy Fortune Lady Master.

But Indigo wasn’t going to let it go that easily. She activated a Continuous Trap, Fortune Ladies’ Resilience. As a reminder, while it is active, if a Fortune Lady monster you control would be destroyed, by battle or card effect, you can instead reduce its level by 3. Also, you can banish Fortune Ladies’ Resilience from the GY to special summon a Fortune Lady from the GY.
Sure, using it reduced her deck master’s level to 7, but better than losing the duel because she lost her deck master.
Indigo quickly returned Murmillo to the deck, summoning Bestiari to take its place. She then used Bestiari to destroy Fortune Ladies' Resilience. She used Test Tiger again, this time summoning out Gladiator Beast Hoplomus in defense position.
She then set a card and ended her turn.

Maiko’s turn, and she drew. During her standby phase, Fortune Lady Master gained a level, but that is what Indigo had waited for. She activated Gladiator Beast War Chariot, and since she controls a Glad Beast, and an effect monster activated its effect, Indigo could negate the activation and destroy the card.
