Chapter 143:We Wouldn't Want That

Dannie told them that it was already a long time since they left this house and had moved in to Baguio. Her dad did not sell the house and only used it to keep his weapons like his guns, grenades, and the like.

The moment they reached the room's door and opened it with a key, they noticed that there was a vault that had no ordinary lock. It was operated by a code and they all knew that Dannie's father was really strict when it comes to keeping his weapons.

Dannie held the lock. "Tyler, please look at the phone and read the code," she ordered and Tyler quickly got Geof's phone to open the message Alice sent them.

"7-6-9-7, clockwise," Tyler said and the moment she heard him, Dannie quickly entered the code but she couldn't open it.

"Shit!"

She still couldn't open it on her second try, the third, and the fourth… after how many tries, she still could not open it. Why is that? It was impossible for her father to have said an instruction incorrectly.

Isobel rolled her eyes as she felt impatient. "Let me handle it, girl," she said as she bumped her butt on Dannie's waist, making her step aside. "7-6-9-7, right," she asked and Tyler nodded as Isobel turned the knob on the lock. In her first try, she was able to open the vault before their eyes could even blink. This made the three look at her in amusement.

They opened the vault and they saw four big boxes of bullets with the sign "DON'T TOUCH!". They also saw two big boxes, with a sign painted in red, "CAUTION: DANGER!" and seeing that sign, they already knew that it was the box that contained the grenades.

"How are we going to open this," Dannie asked then she sighed. "I'm scared. What if it suddenly blows up," she added and everyone felt nervous the moment she said her concern.

'We wouldn't want that.'

They searched the room until Tyler's eyes was fixed on the knife that he saw on the table.

"Why not use this," he suggested as he got the knife. "We can use this to open up the sides. Let's make sure that the cut is not that deep. We might hit the body of the grenade," he added and everyone looked at him, taking his suggestion into consideration.

"Don't let me do it, okay? I'm clumsy and I might kill everyone," Isobel said and they all looked at Geof. He suddenly shook his head, totally against them.

"Let me try then," Tyler said and everyone looked at him, putting trust in him.

Tyler made a scratch on the four sides of the box. He made a straight line in each side for him to open the box easily. His heart was beating faster by the second. He knew that he has to be careful.

As Tyler was opening the box slowly, he felt the tip of the knife hitting the body of the grenade. He quickly pulled the knife away and took a deep breath, and so did his companions. They were nervous. One wrong move, and they're dead.

A few minutes had passed and finally, Tyler was able to successfully open the box. Everyone sighed in relief as Dannie walked forward to retrieve four grenades from the box. The moment they left the room, they locked the door once more, making sure that they would be the only ones to use the grenades in case other people would infiltrate their location.
