Chapter 144:It's Now or Never

They already arrived at the rooftop and all of them ran towards Dannie's father. They bumped people who were busy along the way but it was not a big deal since they were now facing an emergency as of the moment.

"Dad," Dannie greeted her father the moment she saw him. The others watched as he accurately shot zombies from his distant location.

"We're not going to last long," he suddenly said and panic arose from the teenagers.

"But we already got what you needed. Is this not enough?" The moment Isobel asked this, Dannie's father was hesitant, but still, he nodded slowly as he got the items from them.

"We'll do what we can. Because if not, the gate might be destroyed and the zombies might enter our location. We can't bomb our gate so we have to make a careful plan," Dannie's father said and everyone was now deep in thought.

"We can't just use our grenades as we please," Isobel said and they all looked at her. "We might destroy the gate and if we destroy it, we're vulnerable," she added and Geof sighed.

"If we all attack them closely, it would put our lives at risk. Our bullets would also go to waste," he said and Dannie sighed next.

"So it all boils down to this. What can you suggest, Tyler," Dannie asked and everyone looked at him, kind of desperate for answers as if their life depended on it.

What they said was right. They just couldn't throw their grenades as they please. They cannot also fight them at close range because it would really ask for their deaths. What can be their alternative?

Tyler was thinking seriously for a couple of minutes until a plan just lit up in his mind. "We need a distraction," he said and Isobel already got what he meant.

"That distraction would act as our bait, right," she asked and Tyler nodded.

"Yes. And the bait must be skilled in close ranged attacks. Of course, the person should be capable of protecting himself!" The moment he said this, everyone looked at Geof and his eyes widened.

"What? Me? Hey, I also need protection," he said and Tyler snapped his fingers as he thought of something to assure him of his safety.

"The attackers are long ranged attackers. They would be the ones killing zombies from afar, targeting those near you," Tyler said and Geof laughed nervously.

"Clarification: shoot the zombies, and not me, a'ight?"

Dannie giggled a bit. "We won't kill you, relax!" She then patted Geof's back three times, assuring him.

Tyler cleared his throat, getting everyone's attention back. "I want Geof to make the zombies follow him far away from the gate." He pointed at a tree. "See that tree? Geof will climb it. Once he climbs up, we would be already throwing the grenade. The location's far from the gate, see." When he explained the plan in detail, everyone's eyes lit up in hope.

"So this is the plan then. I'll tell dad," Dannie said as she quickly walked towards her dad to tell him of the plan that was just formulated by the teenagers.

"I'll prepare what we need. Remember not to shoot me, okay," Geof said before he went to prepare what they needed for the plan.

"If you need me, I'll just be here. I need to help the others, too," Isobel said then she went as well, ready to help the others who needed it.

The moment Tyler was left alone, he went to the edge of the rooftop where the other guns were located. He got a shot gun and reloaded it for him to use. His plan will take place in a few minutes and he's not willing to let this plan fail.

'It's now or never.'
