Chapter 121 - Guild Registration

I get woken up suddenly by both Ellena and Hope

who shout.

"happy birthday!"

I groan and lay back down on the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and I think to myself.

"ugh, today is also the day that I have to register at the adventurer's guild that is based in Grezia."

I made a deal with King Dave that I would do quests for the guild, but I told him to let me take a few months of break to spend time with Ellena and Hope, I the try to cover my head with the blankets, but Hope jumps onto bed and shakes me as she says.

"come on daddy, me and mommy baked a cake for you."

I uncover my head quickly, after hearing the words cake and as I sit up I ask.

"does that mean I can eat a piece right now?"

"of course you can, we made it just for you."

I respond in a teasing manner.

"look at you, acting all wife like."

her face turns bright red, and she looks at me with her beautiful green asks with a cutesy voice.

"do you not like it?"

completely caught off guard with her unexpected response, I reply almost stumbling my words.

"not at all, I like it, very much."

she smiles.

"good, well let's have some cake then."

"this reminds me of every birthday I celebrated back in my previous life."

I grab the fork and take a small bite of the piece, and while I'm doing that, both Ellena and Hope are staring at me, almost as if they are waiting to see my reaction, I start to choke jokingly and then say in a not very convincing manner.

"oh no, this cake will be the death of me."

Hope giggles.

"don't be silly daddy, do you like it?"

I smile.

"yes of course I like it, the two most important ladies in my life, made it for me."

as we eat our slices of cake, Ellena asks.

"do you really need to register at the adventurer's guild?"

"yeah, since I want to honor the deal I made with King Tully, I need to become an accomplished adventurer to satisfy some of the noble households."

she replies.

"well you could always come back home with me and not worry about doing this stuff."

I sigh.

"I know, but I wouldn't feel right, if I don't keep my word."

after a few moments of silence she says in a frustrated voice.

"I don't get it, you caused the downfall of the vampire lords, and those damned noble households want you to prove yourself still."

I then ask.

"well you're royalty right?"

"of course, I am, what about it?"

I reply.

"how would you feel if a nobody with no special bloodline connections, is placed in charge of training your future soldiers?"

she mumbles to herself, and then responds.

"okay but, you already earned the kings acknowledgement, so that should be more than enough."

I shrug.

"well it's not like I'm being asked to do anything too crazy."

as I finish eating my piece, and stand up, Ellena asks.

"are you heading inside the city, to register at the adventurer's guild?"

"yeah I want to get this over with already."

Ellena then asks.

"do you want us to accompany you?"

I reply.

"yeah, I would very much like that."

but then I remember that King Dave told me that he would rather have me apply at the guild alone, I then sigh and say to her.

"but you can't be around when I register at the guild."

she replies disappointed.

"yeah I know."

"okay let's go, we're going into the city with daddy."

we leave our two story, and two bedroom home that King Dave gifted me for everything I've done, I then think to myself.

"these past few months of peace and relaxation have been great."

I sigh feeling bummed out, that I have to fulfill my obligations, but then again a little part of me is just itching to go on a regular adventure, and not have to worry about taking on some big bad guy, Ellena notices me lost in thought and asks.

"what changed your mood?"

caught off guard, I respond.

"uh, what are you talking about?"

she replies.

"well you kind of look like, your looking forward to doing this whole adventurer's guild thing."

I reply honestly.

"sort of."

after getting searched by the guards, we walk inside the city's walls, and as we make our way towards the adventurer's guild building, Hope asks me excitedly.

"daddy, can we get those chocolate breads like last time?"

I ask Ellena.

"what do you think?"

she responds to Hope.

"we already have cake at the house, so no."

Hope pouts but then she looks at me, and as she gives me sad puppy dog eyes, she asks.

"daddy?"

I answer sternly.

"your mother is right, we still have cake back at the house."

as she looks down on the ground, I kneel down and say.

"but I promise you next time, we'll go there together, just the three of us."

she nods.

"okay."

Ellena and Hope depart, after arriving at the front of the adventurer's guild, a three story building, surrounded by many groups of adventurers, with their enchanted swords and bows, I then ask myself.

"are adventurers allowed to carry enchanted weapons?"

I take a deep breath, and step inside the building, I look around the lobby of the guild, and see more groups of adventures, I then think to myself.

"I never knew, that there were so many people registered to the guild."

I approach one of the receptionists, a small brunette woman with light brown eyes, wearing her guild uniform which consists of a black jabot, white dress shirt covered by a gray vest, and a black dress skirt, she smiles and asks.

"how can I help you today sir?"

I answer.

"I'm here to register as an adventurer."

she replies as she hands me a registration form.

"fill out this application and then we will test out your magical abilities."

I reply.

"okay sure."

I finish filling out my application and hand it over to the receptionist after she finished talking to a group of adventurers, and she says.

"okay follow me, our guild master will have a word with you."

we arrive upstairs and as she knocks on a door at the end of a hallway, a familiar voice shouts.

"it's open, come in!"

we walk in and I immediately recognize the orange buzz cut hairstyle, and dark brown eyes, he stands from his chair and as he slams both of his hands on the desk in front of him, he says with gritted teeth and anger.

"Collin Belfaust."

I respond in the same tone as him.

"Gale, The Wood Hero."
