Chapter 281 - Cannot Afford to Offend

Li Qin Yao noticed that her husband has been staring at her strangely for the past few days. However, whenever she asked him about it, Zhang Yu Han would only tease her that he wanted to continue to stare at her because she looked good.

Although that was not the first time that her husband would say such things, Li Qin Yao couldn't help but think that there was something different in his gaze. It was as if her husband was worrying over something but he did not want her to know about it.

Seeing that Zhang Yu Han was still staring at her, Li Qin Yao decided to go towards him and tiptoed to link her arms around his neck. She pulled his head closer to her and rested her forehead on his. 

"Zhang Yu Han?"

He stared into her eyes and smiled. "Hmm?"

"Why do you keep staring at me? Aren't you bored yet?"

His arms circled her waist to support her and chuckled. "You silly girl, how can I get bored looking at you?" Zhang Yu Han leaned to peck at her red lips and sighed. "Qin Yao, you look beautiful tonight."

Li Qin Yao tilted her head sideways and giggled. "Really?"

Presently, the two of them were dressed up to attend LUX Group anniversary banquet.

Li Qin Yao was wearing a dark blue knee-length wrap dress with short flutter sleeves. Her black hair was loose with soft curls framing her face. Her face had a light make up, and her lips were painted in bright red shades that Zhang Yu Han knew that she liked so much. While he was wearing a suit from the same color shade to match his wife.

Although she was wearing a high heel, Li Qin Yao would still need to stand tiptoe to reach him.

Zhang Yu Han had seen his wife dressed up in many styles and outfits. He thought that he would never get tired of seeing her in different garments. His wife was so beautiful that she would look good in anything that she wore.

Knowing that she would get mad if he ruined her lipstick, Zhang Yu Han only dared to peck at her lips once. 

She lowered her gaze and pulled away before reaching for his hand. "Come on. We don't want to be late."

Zhang Yu Han nodded obediently but paused to tugged at her hand softly. "Qin Yao, when we get home later, I have something to talk to you." He forced a smile when he saw the worried look on her expression. He bopped at her nose and continued. "Stop worrying too much for now. We'll talk once we get back home, alright?" 

Li Qin Yao stared at her husband for a few seconds before she nodded. Although she was curious to know what he was going to tell her, Li Qin Yao knew that this was not the proper time and place to talk. She could sense that what Zhang Yu Han was going to tell her was something important. 

The two held hands as they entered the hotel and headed to the banquet hall.

Zhang Yu Han glanced at the woman beside him and could not help but worry at how she was going to react once he told her what he had heard and found out.

Two days ago, Zhang Yu Han unexpectedly received a call on his office line. He was surprised when his secretary told him that it was Han Yue Xiu. Zhang Yu Han thought that it was strange for Han Yue Xiu to contact him. Although he had met his wife's friend a few times, Zhang Yu Han never had any other contact with her. 

Thinking that it might be an important matter, Zhang Yu Han picked up the call and was surprised to hear from Han Yue Xiu that Li Mu Chen was posting on the dark web forum to look for someone to harm his wife.

It was a surprise to know that someone like Li Mu Chen would know how to go into the site. Unfortunately, Li Mu Chen was too stupid to use her usual username on the web. Therefore, Han Yue Xiu was able to recognize and track down her activities with Song Yi's help.

Han Yue Xiu then told him that she will be keeping her eyes on Li Mu Chen's activity. However, it was still important for Zhang Yu Han to ensure Li Qin Yao's safety.

Zhang Yu Han then contacted Qi Ming Wei and told him about this information. With the Qi's intelligence, they were able to find out the person that Li Mu Chen had contacted.

Although Qi's family had helped him to resolve the matter, for now, Zhang Yu Han was still worried about his wife's safety. Li Mu Chen might not able to find anyone to hire through the site, but it would not be impossible for her to find another way to harm his wife.

He wanted to have someone to protect his wife when he could not be by her side. He wanted to take action on Li Mu Chen. But to do these things, Zhang Yu Han wanted to discuss it with his wife and ask for her opinion first.

Zhang Yu Han snapped out of his thought when they approached the door. Li Qin Yao pulled out the invitation card and showed it to the staff. Then, she linked her hand with Zhang Yu Han arms and stepped inside the hall when the hotel staff pulled the door open.

A staff from LUX Group immediately greeted them both. Once he found out that Li Qin Yao was a representative from QL Group, the man immediately led the couple to the front, where the big bosses were gathering.

Meanwhile, not far away from them, three pairs of eyes were looking at the couple, each with different emotions on their face.

Tang Ai Ling glanced at her fiance and frowned when she saw that his eyes were still glued on his ex-girlfriend. It was not a secret that previously, Chen Hao was taken to the police station after he had tried to ȧssault his ex-girlfriend.

If it was not for Tang Ai Ling who begged her father to help her, Chen Hao would not be able to leave the station easily. But no matter what she had done for him, Chen Hao would still had his eyes on Li Qin Yao. 

At these thoughts, Tang Ai Ling was naturally unhappy. She tugged at Mother Chen's sleeve and pouted slightly.

Mother Chen followed Tang Ai Ling's eyesight and sneered. "How shameless! I did not think that a mere cafe owner would be able to come to this grand banquet like this. Who on earth let her in?"

"Mom, don't say it like that," Tang Ai Ling tried to persuade. "That girl probably comes along with her new boyfriend."

It was then that Mother Chen noticed that Li Qin Yao was not alone. "Look at her. I didn't think that she would be this wanton to find herself another rich boyfriend." She turned to his son and spoke again. "Hao Hao, it was good that you had left her earlier."

Chen Hao snickered as he looked at his mother. "Mom, you need to stop. The only reason why Yao Yao was here was that she was invited to attend this banquet because she is the manager of QL Group B City Branch."

Both Mother Chen and Tang Ai Ling had a confused look on their face. 

"You were surprised as well, right?" Chen Hao laughed. "I found out about this recently. Apparently, Yao Yao is the eldest granddaughter of Li Ren Xin of the QL Group. She only came here because her mother was residing in B City. Remember that Tourism City project in B City that I was supposed to be in charge of? Well, Yao Yao was the one who manages that project."

"What? QL Group?" Mother Chen looked at her son, and then back to where Li Qin Yao was standing. 

"Therefore, mom, I suggest that you won't find her and create trouble," Chen Hao let out a low laugh as he recalled what had happened when he tried to harm her not too long ago. "Right now, Yao Yao belonged to the group that we cannot afford to offend."
