Chapter 338 - Decorating

When Zhang Yu Han walked down the stairs, the house was quiet. It was until he walked into the kitchen that he found his wife, sauteing some cherry tomato in olive oil and oregano. He stood at the entrance and leaned his body on the wall as he continued to watch her.

Once Li Qin Yao had turned off the stove and transferred the dishes into a plate, Zhang Yu Han went coughed dryly to announce his presence and went forward to hug her from behind.

Li Qin Yao shrunk her neck when she felt his chin resting on her shoulder. She turned her head and kissed him on the corner of his mouth. "Good morning." she lifted the dishes in her hand and asked. "Would you like some breakfast?"

Zhang Yu Han stayed at his place with a lazy expression. "Why are you up so early?"

"I'm hungry. I suddenly craved to eat some tomatoes."

"Then you should have to wake me up. I can help you to whip something up." Zhang Yu Han tightened his embrace and sighed. As his wife's pregnancy had reached the end of the first trimester, his morning sickness was getting better and he no longer had the craving to eat certain food as he did previously. But Li Qin Yao continued to have those cravings.

Li Qin Yao smiled at him before she wriggled out of his embrace. "Come on. Let's have some breakfast. Mom made some of your favorite earlier."

Zhang Yu Han followed her lead and sat down at the kitchen counter and the two shared their breakfast. After drinking his coffee, Zhang Yu Han was more awake and it was then that he realized that the house was too quiet. "Where is everyone else?"

"Mom and dad went out with Yu Ying earlier for last-minute shopping. Grandfather is in the garden, exercising," Li Qin Yao said. She turned to look towards the door and went closer to her husband. "Why do I feel as if Grandfather's mood was not that right these days?"

"At a time like this, Grandfather would always think of Grandmother." He reached to pat his wife on her head and smiled. "You don't have to worry so much. He's always like this. As long as we spend our time with Grandfather, he will be alright."

As the two continued to eat and chatted, Zhang Jing appeared at the kitchen entrance and smiled when he saw his grandson. "Yu Han, it's good that you're awake. Come and help me to put up some decoration later."

Zhang Yu Han lifted his head and saw a few couplets in his hands. "Grandfather, didn't we have enough decoration?"

Earlier that morning, after she had woke up early, Li Qin Yao had helped his mother-in-law decorating the house with the help of Auntie Wu. Therefore, there were not many things that they need to do.

"This is the first time that I'm welcoming New Year with my granddaughter-in-law. Of course, we have to make the house livelier than usual. Have your breakfast quick and come and help me." Zhang Jing said before he went to a corner.

"You see how excited Grandfather is now?" Zhang Yu Han turned to his wife and whispered. "Imagine how he will react once he found out that next year, he will be welcoming New Year with his great-grandchild."

Zhang Jing then came back with a few more decorations in his hand and turned to Li Qin Yao with a gentle expression. "Qin Yao, what do you think? We definitely put more red decorations for good luck, right?"

As a good granddaughter-in-law, Li Qin Yao nodded and agreed to whatever Zhang Jing had said.

Once Zhang Yu Han gave him his words, Zhang Jing retreated while shouting Auntie Wu's name.

Li Qin Yao turned to her husband with a mischievous look and tugged at his arm, "As long as I have my lucky cat beside me, I think I will always be blessed with good luck."

Hearing her words, Zhang Yu Han could only pinch her cheek.

Although Zhang Yu Han had told his wife not to force herself to help, Li Qin Yao could not stop herself from joining the lively atmosphere and the women chatted about various things as they prepare for the feast.

When Li Qin Yao went back to the room to clean up before the reunion dinner, her husband was already waiting for her in the room. Zhang Yu Han quickly pulled his wife to the sofa and forced her to lay down.

"What are you trying to do?" Li Qin Yao panicked at his sudden action and tried to stand up.

"Just lay down for a bit," Zhang Yu Han coaxed. He then lifted her legs and placed it on his thɨġh before he started to massage her foot. "I told you not to force yourself too much. Didn't Doctor Qiao tell you that you shouldn't stand for too long?"

Li Qin Yao looked at her husband with a pitiful expression. "I wasn't standing around. There were chairs in the kitchen, you know." She immediately pursed her lips tightly and lowered her gaze upon seeing her husband's piercing gaze. She then shifted closer to him to hug his arm.

Seeing the look on her face that resembled an obedient kitten, Zhang Yu Han let out a chuckle. He continued to massage her foot and stopped when he noticed that something was not right. Turning around, Zhang Yu Han soon found that Li Qin Yao was asleep with her head leaning on his arms.

Zhang Yu Han stared at her speechlessly. His wife was too tired but had still told him that she was alright. He took a deep breath and lifted her to bed. Then, he looked at the clock and decided to give her a few minutes to nap before he was going to wake her up.

When he came out of the bathroom, Zhang Yu Han then went over to the bed and stared at his wife's sleeping figure. He leaned in to kiss her face and softly woke her up. "Wake up, sleepyhead."

Li Qin Yao stirred in her sleep and was surprised upon seeing Zhang Yu Han's smiling face. It was then that she recalled that he was giving her a foot rub before she had fallen asleep.

"How long have I been sleeping?" Li Qin Yao asked.

"Not too long. Half an hour," Zhang Yu Han answered. "Are you feeling alright? Do you want to continue to sleep?"

Li Qin Yao gave her husband a look over and said, "I'm fine." She chuckled. "We were going to have a family dinner, why are you asking me if I want to continue sleeping?"

Zhang Yu Han patted at her head. "Alright then. You should go and get ready. I'll wait for you and we'll go downstairs together."
