Chapter 375 - An Accident

After training to separate Zhang Li Xue from her mother a few more times, the little princess did not cry as much as she did the first time. 

These days, once her mother left, Zhang Li Xue would cry briefly and once someone coaxed her for a while, she would stop crying. Seeing this scene a few times, Zhang Yu Ying thought that her niece was such a drama queen. The way the little princess would cry whenever her mother left would make anyone pity her.

However, the cry would stop and Zhang Li Xue would start to play as if she had forgotten about her mother. 

When Zhang Yu Ying mentioned this to her sister-in-law, Li Qin Yao had laughed before she would praise her daughter as a clever girl. Zhang Yu Ying could not understand what was so clever about this.

Of course, Zhang Yu Ying did not know that her niece had figured out that once she stopped crying after being coaxed for a while, people will like her, praise her as a well-behaved girl, and will play with her for a long time. 

The little girl knew that once her mother returned to her side, she will be doted on by her parents and her mother will accompany her to play for a long time.

On the first day that Li Qin Yao will return to work, Zhang Yu Han accompanied her to her office. Li Qin Yao was going to visit the site later, her husband decided to tag along as the biggest shareholders for the Tourism City project.

In the morning, the couple decided to have their breakfast at the Lilium Cafe as Li Qin Yao was going to check on the place as well.

Once they arrived, the staff greeted the couple before Li Qin Yao walked over to her manager to ask for an update. During her absence, Li Qin Yao was unable to look over her cafe and had to ask her mother to visit the place whenever she was free. Fortunately, the cafe was doing well under Qing Kong's management. 

As Li Qin Yao began to eat her breakfast, she could not help but sensed her husband's gaze on her. She took a small bite at the pastry and raised a brow. "What's wrong?"

Zhang Yu Han let out a chuckle. "Nothing. I just thought that this reminded me of the time when I was courting you."

Li Qin Yao froze and a second later, a smile appeared on her lips as she was reminded of the time when Zhang Yu Han had spent a month with her under the disguise to learn more about property and development business. It was only later that she heard that he had stayed around to court her.

"Mr. Zhang, back then, you keep sending me mixed messages that I don't know whether you are interested in me or not," Li Qin Yao said and chuckled. "At one time, I thought you were trying to woo me, and another time, you would keep your distance."

Zhang Yu Han laughed upon hearing her words. 

"Fortunately, you had gathered your courage and asked me to date you," Li Qin Yao put her cutlery on the side and smiled as she looked at him. "Or else, I might miss this chance to marry a great guy."

Zhang Yu Han raised his head and was startled upon meeting her gaze. At this time, his wife's eyes were sparkling with adoration towards him. As their gaze met, Zhang Yu Han felt his heart swelled and he had the urge to lean forward and kiss the girl.

Just as the couple was chatting as if they were back at their dating days, two men walked into the cafe and chatted in a loud voice. From their tone of voice, anyone could guess that they were talking about something major.

Hearing the men's loud voice, Li Qin Yao turned towards their direction and frowned. She was about to ignore them and continued to eat her breakfast, but the men's discussion had caught her attention.

Her body grew cold when she heard the men mentioned an accident at the Tourism City's construction site.

"Qin Yao, calm down."

Li Qin Yao snapped out of her trance as she felt a warm hand upon hers. She looked up and saw her husband's frowning gaze. "Zhang Yu Han. Did you hear that?" The men—"

"I know," Zhang Yu Han spoke calmly. "First, call Liang Sheng or Xiao Lian Yi to check on the situation."

"Oh," Li Qin Yao nodded. She grabbed her bag on the side to look for her phone and her hands trembled. Just as she found her phone, the phone started to ring. Li Qin Yao froze as she saw the caller ID. It was Liang Sheng!

With shaky hands, Li Qin Yao pressed the phone to her ear. Immediately, she heard Liang Sheng's voice, reporting of an accident in the construction site.

One of the commercial building suddenly collapsed and it was reported that a few people were trapped under the building. The incident happened ten minutes ago and the rescue team had arrived to rescue those who are injured.

At this time, Li Qin Yao did not know what to think. Suddenly, she was brought back to the past where the reporters and everyone had surrounded her to ask for her explanation of the incident.

A hot embrace brought her back. Li Qin Yao blinked and found that she was in Zhang Yu Han's embrace. Her face stuck in his ċhėst and Li Qin Yao felt Zhang Yu Han's hand patting her back.

"Take a deep breath. Calm down," Zhang Yu Han continued to whisper in her ear. "Qin Yao, I'm right here with you."

She bit her lips. Once she was able to calm down, Li Qin Yao lifted her head to look at him and spoke, "Take me to the site."

Zhang Yu Han stared at her for a while and nodded. "Alright. I'll drive you there."

Li Qin Yao looked around with her eyes wide. There were people everywhere and everyone was in a panic. Just then, Liang Sheng and the site manager approached her and Zhang Yu Han to give their report on the incident. However, at this time, she was not able to hear a thing.

A paramedic passed by with an injured worker. Looking at the amount of blood on the man's head, Li Qin Yao froze. The incident from years ago came back to her mind and the voices of accusation echoed in her head.

Although Zhang Yu Han had stayed by her side and tried to calm her, Li Qin Yao was not able to snap out of her thought.

She continued to stare at the rubble and felt something choking her and breathing became difficult.

The last thing she heard before everything around her turned black was her husband's voice, calling her name in a panicked voice.
