Chapter 383 - I Just Wanted to Protect You

Upon hearing his wife's words, a light flashed in Zhang Yu Han's eyes before he looked away. He gave a gentle squeeze at her hand and spoke, "Can you not meet her?"

The two of them looked into each other's eyes for a long time as if having a silent conversation.

"Despite what she was going to tell me, I am not planning to be soft-hearted again," Li Qin Yao said. "This time, Li Mu Chen has gone overboard. She followed her mother's footsteps and dared to harm others. I won't let her go unpunished. I just wanted to know why…"

"I know. But I still did not want you to talk to her. I don't like her. I don't think I can sit still watching my wife facing such a vicious woman. I don't care whatever reason she had to go this far and try to hurt you. But I know that whatever she will tell you later will only hurt you," he heaved a sigh and pulled her into his embrace. "I don't want to watch her continuously hurting you. She had done enough. Qin Yao, I just wanted to protect you."

Li Qin Yao let him hug her for a long time. Her ears pressed to his heart and she listened to his heartbeat. 

She was curious to know what was the reason that Li Mu Chen seemed to hate her for years, but at the same time, she did not want Zhang Yu Han to continuously worry about her.

"It will be alright," Li Qin Yao spoke after a long time. She then lifted her head. "If I did not hear from her the answer, I won't be able to reach closure and I will continue to wonder about it," A smile curled on her lips as she continued to look at him. "Zhang Yu Han, I will be fine. You need to trust me."

Another long sigh escaped him before he nodded. His wife was the person that he loved and cherish. He did not want her to get hurt by some irrelevant person's words. However, hearing her words, Zhang Yu Han decided to respect his wish. "Alright. But not today. You need to rest first."

After spending hours in the lock-up, Li Mu Chen was finally taken into the interrogation room. However, instead of being questioned, she was let to wait alone in the room for hours. There was nothing but two chairs, a table, and a bright light in the room. 

Li Mu Chen was not able to tell the time. She did not know how long has it been since she was brought to the police station. What she knew was that her body was sticky and smelly. 

Right now, Li Mu Chen was very uncomfortable. She would not dare to lift her face and look at the observation mirrored wall. She had seen herself a while ago and was shocked at how she looked at the moment. She had never seen herself looking so ugly!

She was tired and hungry.

Earlier an officer had come to deliver her a takeaway, but she had refused to eat it as it does not look appetizing. At this time, Li Mu Chen was slowly regretting her decision.

After yelling, shouting, and crying for hours, Li Mu Chen finally resigned to her fate that they will not come over to her. Her father would not come to help her. Her brother had abandoned her. 

Li Mu Chen could only hope that her grandfather would come to rescue her. However, after what she had done, will her grandfather still come and see her?

Li Mu Chen stood up and her eyes brightened with happiness upon seeing her grandfather walked in. "Grandpa! You're here!" She had wanted to walk over and hug him. However, once Li Mu Chen noticed the look in his grandfather's eyes, her steps halted. "Grand… pa? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You don't have to call me grandpa. I don't have a granddaughter like you," Li Ren Xin spoke. His voice contained a hint of disappointment. 

"Grandpa, what do you mean?" Li Mu Chen laughed nervously. "Grandpa, you have to save me. I don't know why they took me here. My brother… He did not want to help me. I already called for the lawyer to come. But I don't know what's wrong with the police. They won't let me call the—"

Her words were left unfinished. Li Mu Chen finally realized the person who stood behind her grandfather. It was their family's lawyer!

"Grandpa, I know that you were the one who cared about me the most!" Li Mu Chen stepped forward to hug her grandpa but stopped again when her grandpa raised his hand to stop her.

Without saying anything, Li Ren Xin waved his hand at the lawyer and the man stepped forward to the table. He put his briefcase on the table and pulled out a few documents. 

As the lawyer read what Chairman Li had written, Li Mu Chen's face turned pale. 

"Miss Li, if you have no question, you can sign here," the lawyer said.

Li Mu Chen glanced at the paper and gritted her teeth. "I won't sign it!"

"It's fine if you did not want to sign it," Li Ren Xin said. "Even without these documents and your signature, everything written on the will be valid. I am just here to let you know that from now on, you will have nothing with me or QL Group."

"Grandpa, you cannot do this!"

"This is my company. Before I die, I can do whatever I want with it," Li Ren Xin spoke. "You should have known that this will happen the moment you tried to frame Yao Yao. Have you not learned from your mother?"

Hearing the name that she hated so much, Li Mu Chen was boiling with anger. "Yao Yao! It's Yao Yao again! What is so good about her?"

"What did she ever did to you?" Li Ren Xin asked. "Mu Chen, I don't understand this. You are cousins. Why do you hate her so much? Just what did your mother tell you?"

"This has nothing to do with my mother. Grandpa, isn't it because of you? You always wanted to take her side!" Li Mu Chen shouted. After spending her time alone, the tiredness and hunger were driving her crazy.

Li Ren Xin was taken aback upon hearing what Li Mu Chen had said. "Li Mu Chen! What are you talking about!? How is it because of me?"
