In the end, everyone gathered outside in the backyard, waiting for Zhang Jing as he barbecued chicken wings for his great-granddaughter. Once he had barbecued enough portion for the little princess, Zhang Jing immediately handed over the job to cook the other food to his grandson.
Looking at how Zhang Li Xue was blowing at her chicken wing and took a small bite at it, the others found that they could not fight the temptation to take a bite at the chicken wing too.
"Li Xue, let auntie have a taste," Zhang Yu Ying spoke. She swallowed as she continued to stare at the chicken wings.
"No. Great-grandfather cook them for me." Zhang Li Xue moved her plate away from her aunt's eyesight. Then, she continued to eat them quietly.
Zhang Yu Ying felt the corner of her mouth twitched. She did not know where did the little princess get her stingy attitude from. When it comes to food, Zhang Li Xue did not like to share them. However, no matter how much she eats, her weight did not increase that much.
"Just one bite?" Zhang Yu Ying tried her luck again.
"Auntie, you go and ask from my daddy," Zhang Li Xue pointed at her father who had taken the task to cook.
"This is for my wife," Zhang Yu Han spoke before his sister could ask a portion from him. "You should ask Wei Jun Hao to cook for you."
"Are you still my elder brother?" Zhang Yu Ying's eyes widened upon hearing her brother's words.
Li Qin Yao laughed as she watched the two siblings. If they had a second child, she hoped that her children would be as close as Zhang Yu Han and his sister. Although she usually saw them bantering, the two would often look after each other.
Two minutes later, Zhang Yu Ying went back to her sister-in-law with a plate of chicken wings. Although her brother had said that he would not give her a piece, in the end, he had cooked a portion for his sister as well.
Zhang Yu Han went over to his wife and handed her portion. Then, he turned to his daughter and saw that her mouth was smeared with the sticky barbecue sauce. Worried that the girl was going to wipe them on her dress, Zhang Yu Han bought her inside to clean up.
The two of them were having a walk in the city square after they had finished their dinner. Suddenly, Wei Jun Hao had stopped in the middle of the square and the lights suddenly turned off.
Just as she was wondering if there was a blackout, the square was illuminated with the fairy lights all around them. Looking up, Zhang Yu Ying thought that it was beautiful as stars.
A group of people dressed in black walked around them, scattering something on the ground. Upon closer look, they were rose petals and the people had scattered them in heart shape. Fortunately for them, the wind did not blow away those petals.
Then, one of the men approached Wei Jun Hao and handed him a bouquet of roses.
Zhang Yu Ying was in a daze and she did not know what was going on. The passerby started to surround them and a few of them started to take pictures and videos with their phone.
Suddenly, Wei Jun Hao went down on one knee. He passed the bouquet to Zhang Yu Ying, and she had taken them with her head still in a daze. Then, Wei Jun Hao pulled out a red velvet box from his pocket and a ring suddenly appeared before her.
Wei Jun Hao then started to give her a short speech, but she was still in shock to register what he had told her. Fortunately, by the time Wei Jun Hao had asked her the most important question, Zhang Yu Ying had snapped out of her trance.
"Zhang Yu Ying, will you marry me?"
The passerby started to chant, asking her to accept the proposal.
Looking at the diamond ring, winking at her, the lights, the roses, and everything that Wei Jun Hao had prepared for her, Zhang Yu Ying felt a tug on her heart. Her eyes and nose started to sour and she was unable to say a word. In the end, Zhang Yu Ying replied to him with a vigorous nod before she squeaked a 'Yes.'
Li Qin Yao smiled as she listened to her sister-in-law telling her about the proposal a few nights ago. The glow on Zhang Yu Ying's face was very obvious. Although she had previously taken her time to agree and date Wei Jun Hao, Li Qin Yao was glad that the man was able to make Zhang Yu Ying happy.
"Li Xue, your auntie is getting married soon," Zhang Yu Ying announced happily. "Later, I will let you be my flower girl, alright?"
Zhang Li Xue tilted her head sideways. "What is a flower girl?"
"It means, you're going to dress prettily like a princess, and then, you're going to help me scatter flowers on the floor."
"No. Mummy said it's not good to scatter stuff on the floor," Zhang Li Xue answered. She turned around from her auntie, clearly disinterested with the position as the flower girl, and looked at her mother. "Mummy, I want to drink." She leaned her head on her mother's ŀȧps and acted coquettishly.
"Alright," Li Qin Yao laughed as she looked at her daughter. She rubbed at the little girl's chubby cheek and smiled. "You wait here with your aunt. I'll go inside and pour some water for you, alright?"
"Mummy, I want apple juice."
"En. Just wait here and don't run around, alright?" Li Qin Yao looked at her daughter who sat obediently beside her aunt and walked inside and headed into the kitchen.
Just as she was pouring some apple juice for her daughter, warm arms encircled her waist. She turned her head sideways and her husband's lips descended on her cheek.
"Are you envious?" Zhang Yu Han asked.
"What should I be envious of?"
Zhang Yu Han stayed in silence for a few seconds before he spoke again. "That I did not give you a grand proposal like Wei Jun Hao gave to Yu Ying."
A chuckle escaped her. "Of course not." She turned around and met his gaze. "I love your proposal. Although there was no flower or a ring during the first proposal, I still love them. I still think they are special. Because when you asked me to marry you, I know that the words you said, your promises, were from your heart."
Zhang Yu Han stared at his wife as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Even if you ask me to marry you in the same way again, I will not hesitate to say yes." The smile on her face widened. "Because Zhang Yu Han, as long as it's you, I will always say yes."
