Dave stopped his motorbike in a rest area where the entrance was on the side of the highway. Dita also got down and took off her helmet. Dave, who saw Dita take off the helmet she was wearing and tossed her hair, somehow felt his heart beat a little faster than usual.
"Why do we stop here?"
Dave took the helmet from Dita's hand and put it on the motorbike then turned to look back at him. "My hands are sore. Do you think it's been easy driving a motorbike this far? If you want to massage my hand, we can continue."
"Keep on dreaming." said Dita quickly, making Dave chuckle softly.
Dave gave Dita the bag that he had used in front of his body, returned it to the owner of the bag and walked into a mini market. "I'll buy cigarettes first, then we'll find a place to eat."
Dita stood still, not answering Dave's words. Dave walked into the mini market and got in line behind a few people just to buy a pack of cigarettes.
From where he was standing, Dave looked out of the minimarket through the window and found about three men talking to Dita. It made Dave snort in annoyance. Made him think to himself, why is that girl always inviting trouble wherever she is?
After getting what he wanted, which was a pack of red Marlboro cigarettes, Dave walked out of the mini market and headed straight for Dita's place. Now Dita's hand has been held by one of the three people. Dave deliberately slowed down to observe the situation. He didn't want to argue with these people, he thought it was a waste of time.
Dave deliberately slowed his pace, letting them bother Dita for longer. Dave did this on purpose to make things even more out of control.
Not that Dave didn't want to help her. However, Dave was just waiting for the right moment. If he arrives too soon, they may just end up arguing. However, if one of them is messing with Dita, then Dave can immediately act with his punches, not with his mouth anymore.
Sure enough, now Dita has shown an act of resistance by trying to remove her hand from that person's grasp. Another person grabbed Dita's shoulders from behind and brought her face closer to Dita's ear.
"If you keep fighting, don't blame us for being rude to you, do you fucking understand?" whispered that person softly to Dita. Dave could see Dita's previous action of resistance stopped, and Dita also showed a scared face.
Of course, seeing that made Dave grin.
That person had clearly threatened Dita, giving him good reason to take whatever action he wanted.
Bammm! ...
After just one step Dita walked in the direction the people were taking her away, a hard kick landed on the stomach of one of the three from the side, causing him to fall on the ground clutching his stomach which must have been in great pain.
"Hey! What the fuck are you doing?!"
Without answering the rhetorical question of one of the two men still trying to carry Dita, Dave landed a direct blow to the lower jaw of one of the two men. A loud crackling sound indicates that the jaw joint has shifted, most likely crushed.
Dave ducked his head to avoid being hit by the last person who had grabbed Dita's arm forcefully, while throwing a punch back towards that person's stomach.
Bammm! ... "Kheukk! ... "
The man was still hunched over, clutching his aching stomach, but Dave didn't give him the slightest chance to feel pain. Dave grabbed him by the hair and pulled hard, took him aside and then landed a fist on his face.
The three people who had wanted to take Dita away were defeated by Dave very quickly. While they were curled up in pain on the ground, Dave looked for the man who had threatened Dita earlier and found him. He was the one whose jawbone was crushed thanks to Dave's uppercut.
Dave sat on his stomach which was still lying on the ground and hit him in the face once with no kidding force.
Bammm! ...
"What were you whispering to Dita earlier?"
"No, I-- ... I didn't say anything."
Bammm! ...
Dave landed another blow to his face, sending blood dripping from the corner of the eye of the man he was sitting on the ground.
"Don't you dare fucking around with me. Just tell me already, what is it?"
"I-- ... I didn't say anything, I swear of Go—"
Bammm! ...
Dave keeps doing that. He sat on the body of the person who was still lying on the ground, and landed a raw blow on his face which could no longer resist.
It kept repeating itself, until her entire face was really swollen and she even had difficulty speaking.
Dave grabbed the collar of the man he had beaten so badly that his neck was choking. His battered face was getting worse because Dave choked his neck. "Tell me, are you fucking tired of living?"
A security officer came over to Dave and separated him from the person whose condition was almost the same as the person who was dying under him.
"What's going on here?"
Dave pointed to the three people who were even struggling to get up. "The three of them want to kidnap my friend. And this one bastard," Dave paused, pointing to the person in the worst condition of the three of them. "He even threatened my friend."
The officer turned to Dita. "Is that right?"
Dita was still in shock, she could only nod in agreement with the security guard's question. Finally, the officer contacted his colleague using a communication device hanging from the pocket of his uniform and took the three men to safety until the police arrived.
Or rather, securing the three of them from the tantrum of an early year Briston Gal Private High School student named Dave.
Dave walked closer to Dita. "Are you okay?"
Her body was still shaking, and her only reaction was to nod in response to Dave's question.
Dave also took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to drown out his own emotions, after he succeeded he also showed a warm smile to Dita.
Dave put his hands on Dita's elbow and brought his face closer. "Sorry if I went too far earlier."
Dita shook her head slowly, making Dave feel a little relieved. "No, it's ... it's fine."
"Are you sure?" asked Dave to just make sure.
"Yeah, now it's fine."
"Okay, how about we find a place to eat?"
Dita nodded to agree with Dave's invitation. Dave also grabbed Dita's hand and took her to the cafeteria area in the rest area. While waiting for their order, Dave burned the cigarette that was sandwiched between his upper and lower lip. Inhale it in a long suction and exhale it slowly to the air through its breath.
Dita looked like she wanted to ask Dave something, but she kept her mind off, making Dave smile. "What is wrong? Is there anything you wanna ask me?"
"Dave ... I--"
Dave raised his eyebrows, waiting for Dita to finish what she wanted to say.
"I ... I want to apologize, for what I've been doing to you all this time."
Hearing what Dita said just now, made Dave laugh, and because of that, Dita frowned. "Why are you laughing? Is it really that funny?"
Dave also looked back in Dita's eyes, "Actually, what have you done to me, so you want to apologize like that?"
"Mmmm, things like that ... Calling you a pervert ... Slap your face in the class ..."
Dave pretended as if he just found out about the things Dita said just now. "Oh, is that so? I just found out you've been doing this to me all along. When did you do it? I can't remember."
"Cut it out, Dave. It's not funny, you know?" Dita replied, giving him an unpleasant look at the joke Dave had just made. But, her facial expression that was shown at this time seemed quite adorable to Dave somehow.
"But, by the way, who are you really?"
Badump ...
Dave's heart stopped beating for a split second when Dita asked him that.
Dave tried to stay calm, there was no way Dita would know the identity he had been trying to cover up. "What do you mean?"
"You can win against those people. Even though their bodies are bigger, and you are also alone while there are three of them. Could it be ..." Dita paused his words, making Dave even more nervous in there. "Could it be, you are a Junior Mixed-Martial Arts athlete, huh?"
Dave inhaled his cigarette and exhaled the smoke into the air with a sigh of relief. Maybe, Dave can use the haphazard conclusions Dita drew against him. It can be used as a cover to explain why he was so good at hand-to-hand combat like that.
There seemed no better reason than that.
Even though it's just a lie.
"Yes, I used to be a trainee in some kind of Fight Club when I was in middle school."
Hearing that, made Dita nod his head. "So that's it. No wonder you're good at fighting."
"Why? You don't like guys who like to fight like me?"
Dita chuckled softly. "What do you mean? Why do you ask something like that?"
"Who knows, maybe you don't like bad boy types, those types of men, you know?"
Their conversation became more fluid the longer they talked to one another.
It was really the right decision for Dave to wait for Dita and take her on a motorbike.. That way, the two of them could be closer.
