Chapter 138 - 138: Don't Leave Me, Please

Markus had reached the peaceful, hidden spot in the library when he heard a strange noise that seemed blocked by a thick wall.

He quickly turned off the music, put the black airpod on his pocket, and tightened up the grip on the shoulder strap of his bag.

"Hello? I... I am willing to help you but the door is being locked a– and I don't know where is the key!" he said as he doubted himself for being aggressive and willing to help the stranded girl inside of a cold room.

Until...

"Markus? I– Is that you, Markus?"

He stepped back the moment he recognized that sweet, hollow voice of Halora. His heart pounded too fast and the rage within became unstoppable.

But, he tried to calm down, breathed some air before he turned into a terrible beast. He shook his head, caressed his temple as it was the only way to get rid of the rage in his body.

"Are you still there?"

Markus cleared his throat when he finally cooled down. He closed his eyes, stepped closer to the door and he said, "Did you saw someone who locked the door? Someone must be here after you went inside of the room!"

"I don't know exactly but I found the key below the shelf on your right! Maybe, you can try searching for the spare key."

Halora was determined to go out of the room. Her body soaked in a cold room without even a single jacket that would warm her body.

While she narrated what and how it happened, Markus bent his knees low and searched for the spare key as he didn't lose hope too.

In a snap of someone's finger, he suddenly turned into a caring, sweet werewolf who was once a man of failure and good for nothing son.

Unexpectedly, he felt and found something that have the same shape as an ordinary key. To his surprise, he quickly stood up and put it to the keyhole as it successfully unlocked.

"Halora, can you still hear me?"

"Halora!"

Markus quickly opened the door when no one answered him. It made him worried about her as he confirmed that Halora passed out and lost consciousness.

Frightened of losing her, he felt her pulse, and luckily, she was still alive and breathing. But he thought, she only needed some rest and well-ventilated room to regain her strength as quickly as it was.

"Hold tight, Halora! Don't worry, you are safe now! You are safer with me than with that arrogant, campus bad boy!" he said and rushed Halora to the school's clinic effortlessly.

A couple of minutes has passed since Halora was sent to the clinic. The school's nurse said it was the side effect of over fatigue and stress that led her body weak and vulnerable.

Peacefully, she slept with ease while Markus couldn't stop staring at her angelic face. He tried to control it, yet, he ended up hypnotized by her beauty.

"Huh, why is it that a dagger is being pierce deeply into my chest? I– it's making my heart beat too fast and loud!" he thought as he sweated profusely.

Markus has been changed, still, he denied it and even lied to himself. He didn't expect such abrupt changes towards one, single person.

"No! This is not me and this girl is nothing but a cheap, ugly bit–"

"D– don't leave... don't leave me, please..." Halora murmured between in her dreams. "S– Sebastian... don't leave me, Sebastian..." she added. Her brow furrowed as she begged him to stay beside her.

She looked afraid, worried of being left behind by someone who captured her heart.

Markus shook his head in disbelief as he thought she was talking to him. He sighed, walked back near to her, held her hand tightly and squeezed it gently.

He said, "I... I am here and I will never leave your side, Halora. Take s–some rest so you can gain your strength as quick as possible."

Markus didn't know how it started and when it would last. The strange feeling in his chest became too powerful and stronger than the first day he met her with sadness in her round, brown eyes.

He sighed, caressed her hair gently while he looked at her pale cheeks, and thin lips. "Huh, why I can't leave you like this, Halora? What did you do t– that makes me run back to you all out of a sudden?"

Thousands of questions flashed into his head but there was only one answer. He admitted that he was once a jerk and a casanova but when he looked into Halora's soul, he fell in love with her at first sight.

He leaned back to the chair, thought of something while she caressed her hand gently.

All out of the sudden, Ms. San Diego who once treated Halora when she passed out inside of the classroom because of Sandra walked into his way and asked him in a hollow voice.

"Excuse me, are you the one who brought her earlier?"

"Y– yes, why? Do you need something?" he said.

Markus slowly let go of her hand as he needed to speak to her about important matters. He gasped, followed the nurse to her office and hoped that nothing serious happened to Halora and she don't have to undergo any surgery.

Ms. San Diego gave him a warm, bright smile and asked him to take a seat first. She breathed heavily, searched for the patient's record and health history as he remained calm and at the same time worried about Halora.

"I've noticed that she's coming back in the clinic due to a drastic reason. Don't you think it's not as simple as a coincidence?" she asked and gave Halora's record of the past few years. "Look at her records and you will doubt the real reason behind of the same incident that happened twice this month."

She was right. All of the records was accurate enough to come up with a possible conclusion.

"It was all happened intentionally." he said and looked at nowhere furiously, gritted his teeth that flaunted his perfect, jaw-dropping jawline.
