154 Time To Move Out: Part 33

Friday, 23th of May 2021. An apartment building in the middle of the capital. 1500 Hours. Patrick and Lynn.

Lynn pulled that person's hands gave him a command to move slowly and inconspicuously. She gave the instructions through a hand signal and Patrick looked around for any tracer that was placed on his body.

Patrick nodded. He gave the all-clear sign. Lynn whispered to that person's ear, "Don't get grumpy, don't be clumsy, follow me, but not to close." Lynn put his hands away. He looked scared. He knew that he was in trouble and he knew that he could be shot anytime.

Lynn put her hand on the doorknob and opened the door slowly. Patrick pushed the VIP to the door. The VIP followed Lynn from behind as she walked with a tablet on her hands. That tablet was equipped with a heartbeat sensor that would detect any incoming living creature that had the same heartbeat as a human.

It was a very silent operation. Neither Patrick nor Lynn spoke any words. Both of them knew that the whole building could be tapped just for the sake of the person that they were escorting. That person was sweating heavily. The neck of his white shirt had gone wet from his sweat.

Lynn raised her right hand. Patrick pulled the shoulders of the VIP. Lynn showed her tablet which had a dot in front of her. They took a step backward and walked slowly. They needed to go through the emergency stairs since the lift was blocked by the people that could be government agents.

Every step felt like a trap and every second felt like an hour. Three of them wanted to get out of the apartment building, but it was easier said than done. Government agents weren't that stupid, they must have surrounded nearly every damn inch of that building.

Lynn opened the door that led to the emergency staircase. The staircase was empty and Lynn was the one who entered the staircase first. She was followed by the VIP from behind and Patrick closed the door behind them.

The VIP couldn't stop making a heavy noise from him stepping into each staircase. It was unbelievably loud, one of them needed to carry him or a government agent would notice there was a person in the emergency staircase.

Patrick hit the back of that VIP neck and carried him on his back. Lynn took a deep breath and she continued observing the heartbeat sensor on the tablet. There wasn't any hostile on that emergency staircase, they were safe to proceed.

The journey from the 12th floor was quite smooth. There was no heartbeat detected near any door or any staircase below them. Problems started to reappear once they arrived at the third floor. Lynn detected a heartbeat on the staircase below them and it was getting closer and closer.

Lynn opened the door of the emergency staircase door on the fourth floor and got out of it. The fourth floor wasn't empty and the lift had been shut down. They needed to find another exit from that building.

"Any idea?" Lynn broke the silence.

"We can use the fire stairs. Let's move out," Patrick led the way to a nearby window where there were fire stairs.

Patrick opened the window and put the VIP outside of that window first. Patrick came out shortly with Lynn following him from behind. Patrick made sure that he made as little noise as possible so he didn't give any suspicious sound that made the government agents became curious.

They went downstairs and immediately went outside of that building. They got another problem though. Patrick's car was parked inside of that apartment building that as sure as hell was under a heavy lockdown from the government agency. They needed a backup plan that would work.

"I know, your car," Patrick said. His opinion wasn't a plan at all. It was spontaneous thinking that made the most sense from all of the options that were available.

Lynn grabbed her PDA from her pocket and spawned a car fight in the middle of the street. Lynn opened the truck of the cat and Patrick put the body of that VIP on the back of that sedan. Patrick closed the trunk and he entered the driver seat.

"That was close," Patrick took a deep breath as he started the engine of that car. The engine of that car immediately started and Patrick put the gear of that car to drive. They drove away from that apartment complex and needed to bypass one military checkpoint.

"Any idea on how to bypass them?" Patrick pulled over as he observed that checkpoint.

Lynn opened her PDA and used the hologram map that showed the 3D view of any surrounding building. Lynn found one of the entrances of an underground parking complex. The parking complex was a parking garage located right under four buildings that were connected.

"Good idea." Patrick turned to the parking garage and drove through the checkpoint without any interruption from the military since he was passing the checkpoint under them.

Patrick drove outside of that parking garage and continued the journey to the rendezvous zone. The rendezvous zone was located on the outskirts of the capital, near Garret high school to be exact. In there, a squad of undercover Russian Spetsnaz would be waiting for them and the VIP. It took them thirty minutes until they reached the rendezvous point.

The rendezvous point was an empty lot located between tho houses. There were three black sedans parked. There were six people waiting outside of the cars. From the looks of it, they were surely Spetsnaz in undercover. They were wearing a flannel shirt and concealed a pistol behind their pants. Not stopping there, it looked like one of them was aiming a gun at Patrick and Lynn's car.

Patrick parked the car and got out of the car. He approached one of the Russians. "I'm an ally," he said to the Russian.

The Russian nodded and the guys inside of their sedans put their weapons down. "Where is the package?" He asked.

"Right there." Patrick pointed his finger at the trunk of that car. The trunk opened slowly and Patrick walked in that direction. Patrick helped the VIP to stand up again. He looked so exhausted from being placed in that trunk.

Patrick helped him walked to the Russians. The Russians welcomed him greatly and one of them even said, "Thanks, the boss will be in touch with you soon."

Patrick nodded to him. He walked back to Lynn's car and reversed the car. He drove outside of that empty lot while waiting for the rewards that Marinka promised to give to him.

[Rewards Have Been Sent. One Message Incoming]

Patrick opened his PDA as he drove the car. He read the message from Marinka carefully. It was her thanks to some of the personal requests from her and the FSB in general.

[From Marinka]

Thanks for rescuing the VIP. That VIP is one of the important assets of our county. If someone captured it, we will be blamed. Nice job, overall, I'm impressed by the results. You also did my task of not killing anyone successfully.

Well done. As for the main subject, I'll start with good news for the contractor. The FSB and I are pleased to welcome your service to the Russian Federation. We will humbly request your help in the conflict zone or any covert operations in general.

See you around.

[End Of Message]

The message was short and clear. Apparently, they successfully attracted the attention of two first world government agencies at the same time. Patrick was glad to hear it since the SDC had a bigger potential to grow than before. Accepting contracts only from the CIA wasn't going to be profitable in the long run. They needed to accept any job offer from anyone as long as they allowed it and it didn't cause other trouble for the contractors.

"What was all of that message about?" Lynn asked.

"As usual, Marinka and other stuff. We have a new one now, FSB is also requesting our service." Patrick tapped the steering wheel of that car happily.

Lynn nodded at Patrick's statements. The future of the SDC was very bright and Patrick knew about it. It was time for them to start preparing for the incoming national examinations. Both of them were ready since both of them were a very smart student from the start. They just needed to wait until the 1st of June and they would have their examination.
