"I don't think so, brother. I'm pretty sure that Elder Martha won't make things easy for me just because I missed the first day. And besides, I'm staying after school with Lannie today."
"Staying after school? Why do you have to do that?" As far as Aaron knows, his sister doesn't have any club activity to do after school. But then again, his sister might have a different meaning to it. 'Is she gonna see Kyle after?' He inwardly wonders.
With a nonchalant expression, she told Aaron what happened. Also, she truthfully told him that she would rather have that punishment rather than go and have her training under Elder Martha. After listening to Alfonso's words last night, Anna is having seconds thoughts if she really wants to go.
"Cleaning the schoolyards or run a four-mile doesn't sound so bad," Aaron commented. He is positive that his sister can do those without complaining about it. They have through worse, and these punishments don't even compare to it.
"I know. I mean, I don't mind doing it. It's just Lannie, I'm sure she's going to complain all day about it though." Last time, when Lannie dislikes something and starts complaining about it, she doesn't stop until the next day.
Although Anna likes to hangout with Lannie, she just can't stand Lannie complaining all they long, especially when they are going to be under the same roof.
"Oh. If I were you, I would rather do a different punishment from her. That way you can avoid hearing her complaints." Aaron suggested.
Anna suddenly remembered that she never saw her brother being late to school. In her past life, her brother would not even care if he goes to school or not. And the only reason that he goes is because of their mother. But now, in this current lifetime, her brother is always up early and feeling motivated.
Anna can't help but assumed that her brother is like this is because of a certain person, Nathalia. She's always at school early, and even sometimes, she and her brother accidentally meet Nathalia at the front gates.
"Don't worry about me, Aaron. Besides, it's already been decided on what should we do later." After saying that, Anna glance at the other person next to her. "I'm more interested in you, brother. Did you properly talked to Nathalia yet?" Anna whispered to her brother.
"I did. Earlier. And I received a not so good reply from her." Regardless of what he said, Aaron gave Anna a smile. A smile that Anna did not expect.
After hearing what he just said, Anna thought that her brother will be feeling bitter or similar to that, but he is not showing that to her. It's more like he is happy, and she wants to know why is he happy despite having a not so good reply from Nathalia.
"What did she say to you?" Anna curiously asked. If her brother is showing that expression, then she wants the answer right here and right now. But her brother is leaving her in suspense.
"Asked her. You two are best friends, right?"
Anna noticed that her brother is purposely doing this to her. He knows that she is very interested in what is happening between him and Lannie, and yet he is doing this to her. "Why can't you tell me right now? I'm your sister."
"I don't want to. And think of this as my revenge for teasing me these past few days, my dear sister." Anna's lips twitched in irritation when she heard that from him.
~~~
"He said that to you? Wow. Sometimes, your brother reminds me of my brother." Lannie said.
Both Lannie and Anna are currently cleaning up the schoolyard. They both have trash pickers and a garbage bag on their hands. The yard that they are currently cleaning is at the furthest corner of the school, and they can't believe at how much trash they are seeing right now.
They felt disgusted towards the students to throw their trash at this place. The students at this school don't like to get themselves dirty, and yet they like to dirty the school they are attending.
"Your brother and my brother are different from each other, Lannie. Kyle is more of a gentleman. He is not like my brother who likes to get on everyone's nerves." Truth to be told, Anna would love to have her brother to act like Kyle from time to time.
It is true that Aaron is cold towards strangers similar to Kyle. However, towards those Aaron is close with, Aaron likes to goof around. Totally different from Kyle.
"Please. The Kyle that you know is the man that you like, but as his little sister, he treats me differently. Now, don't get me wrong, Anna. I don't want my brother to act like a sweet big brother to me, it is just sometimes, people tend to act differently to other people, just like my older brother."
Lannie might be complaining at how annoying her brother is to her, but despite that, she likes the way he treats her. And she would like to maintain their relationship at that.
"You're right. I mean, he does treat Nathalia very differently." Anna said with a smirk.
"Speaking of Nathalia, why didn't you asked her earlier? Aren't you both in the same class?" Lannie finds it weird that Anna did not have the chance to asked Nathalia despite them being in the same class. With this, she can't help but wonder that there is a discord between them.
Noticing that expression Lannie is making, Anna flicked Lannie's forehead. "It's not what you think. I was about to ask her, but someone picked her up to go home early. And before you ask, I don't know the reason why."
"Is that so," Lannie said. "Why don't you just act cute in front of your brother? After all, he loves to dote on you whenever you do that."
