Kana watched the guards cook and pass out free food to all who came. She knew this was depleting the stored food supplies within the city, but this was their punishment as well. Food rations were now cut down for all city residents. This, of course, did not go over well with nobles, kings, queens. emperors and empresses who were used to their lavish lifestyles, but that changed real quick when they saw Kana. They, too, bowed in her presence and began helping out with rationing out the food. She knew she could not stay here the entire time to watch over everything and that she needed to continue her journey. But at least now, the priests of the Holy City of Nomia will no longer have any way of harming the crops of this world again. Naru had found the stores of the same white powder in the basement of the church, which he promptly destroyed.
She had people who got a meal go back to their villages and send word that things would be better as long as they could persist a little longer. They only needed to wait for the first crops to bear fruit and that as long as they washed anything they found, they could eat it without worry. With things going smoothly, Kana gave one more stern warning that if anyone dared to defy the rules she set, that they would be turned to ash.
Now Kana's sights were set on the evil god. She wanted to see just what exactly this evil god was. She could already feel a connection to it, and according to Tri'an, it should also be a memory fragment.
Kana and her group flew towards the area where the evil god was said to be. The area went from lush green lands to lush black lands that slowly became desolate the closer they got to a large mountain. "Kana, it's over there." Naru pointed towards the base of the mountain.
Kana nodded and floated down into the rocky area surrounded by large rocks. In front of her was a dense concentration of death element coming out of one of the caves. "You four stay out here. I will go in alone."
"Kana, are you sure? What if something happens?" Aoi asked nervously. She always hated when Kana did things alone.
"Mm… This thing is part of me, after all. I will be back, I promise." Kana smiled before turning and walking into the cave. She had no fear. She also felt no hostility coming from within. Instead, she felt a deep sadness. A sadness so deep that it made Kana's eyes start to water up.
She traveled for five minutes deep into the cave. She could feel the density of the death element growing stronger. But as she made her way down to the back of the cave, she came to a small chamber. It was there that she stopped in her tracks. In front of her was a little girl huddled on the ground, rocking back and forth. She froze when she saw Kana, her big red eyes staring right at her. She had white hair draped over her shoulder. She was the spitting image of a Nephilim.
The two stared at each other for a good while until finally, the little girl opened her mouth and asked. "Are you not afraid?"
"Why would I be afraid?" Kana asked.
"Because I am a cursed child… I killed my mama, my papa, my brothers, and everyone in the village. I killed them all. Even the gods despised me and sealed me up for a long time. Everyone I meet is afraid of me. Is it because they will die from being close to me? Because of my curse that kills everyone around me? They call me the Evil God. I do not age, and I do not die. I can only kill everything around me." The little girl stared at Kana and tilted her head to the side, and before Kana could answer her, she continued: "Stange… You are not affected by my power… Why are you so strange?"
Kana smiled and walked over to the little girl and placed her hand on the little girl's head. "I am not strange because I am the goddess of death as such, your power can not harm me as it is part of me. It's time for you to return to where you belong. You can rest in peace now."
The little girl looked up at Kana, confused at first, but as if on instinct, she smiled brightly and nodded her head. She then hugged Kana and glowed with a bright black light. "Ahh!" Kana's mind was filled with memories of the life this little girl had lived. It was a past life where she had been seen as the evil god. Her powers had awakened one day, triggered by the loss of her little brother, who died because of her own mistake. It was an accident.
The little girl was named Kana. She had two brothers, one older and one younger. The young brother loved to follow her around, and she adored him and always brought him along with her. She was six, and he was four years old. They two went to play in the woods as usual. But that day, the little girl had found what she thought to be a fairy and chased after it. Her little brother, of course, tried to follow along. But she never expected that he would slip and fall, banging his head against a large rock. She panicked and carried him home in tears hoping her mother and father could save him, but he hurt his head too badly, and with how long it had taken her to bring him back, he had already lost too much blood, shortly after he died.
It was when the little girl held her lifeless little brother's hand that her death element exploded from her body. With a single whisper she became the goddess of death at the age of six. "I am death and death is me..."
