45 Meeting the Li Family

Walking into the banquet hall, holding Li Wei's arm, Fan MeiLi would be lying if she wasn't nervous. As soon as the two of them walked inside, everyone got quieted and stared at the couple. Fan MeiLi didn't realize she gripped Li Wei's arm tighter as they got closer to his family. Speaking so that only the two of them could hear, "Don't be so nervous, you'll be fine as long as I'm here." He said.

Fan MeiLi didn't respond all she did was give him a smile, as they finally came upon the head table. Madam Li stood up and gave her son a bright smile, "Wei-er you finally arrived and I see you brought you, mysterious girlfriend, as well." She said.

Giving the family a bow, "It's nice to meet you Elder Li and Mrs. Li, my name is Fan MeiLi." She said in a graceful way. Looking at her with kind eyes, Madam Li found out that her son's girlfriend was pleasing to the eye. Elder Li also liked Fan MeiLi at first glance but mostly happy that his cold grandson found a partner.

Li Na stood up with her arms crossed and walked over to Fan MeiLi with a smirk on her face. "Well aren't you a familiar sight, who would have thought you were big brother's Li girl."

Bowing with a slight blush, "I'm sorry for not being more honest with you but we really wanted to keep our relationship a secret until it was the right time." I said in a nervous voice.

Li Na wanted to be upset for being lying to but when she heard the sincerity in Fan MeiLi's voice, she couldn't help the smile that formed on her face. "It's fine, besides you must be some kind of special to make my cold-hearted brother fall for you." She said.

Fan MeiLi's emotions calmed down when she saw that the Li family was very welcoming toward her.Following Lie Wei to sit down, Fan Mei was happy that she was able to keep her weird feeling calm. Ever since her accident four years ago, she always had trouble being in large crowds because that feeling would start and make her since. Tonight was different, Li Wei's concern was stronger than anyone else in the room; so as long as Fan MeiLi focused on Li Wei she was able to keep calm.

While the Li family was talking and getting to know Fan MeiLi, they were interrupted by a sugary voice. "Elder Li, congratulations on another healthy year and many more." Emily Xu had to put on a perfect mask while watching Li Wei and Fan MeiLi act like such a happy couple.

Seeing Emily Xu once more, Fan MeiLi could finally tell that she has some animosity against her but she didn't know what the reason. Since she herself has worn a mask for so many years, she was able to tell when others tried to act in front of her and hear the truth behind their words.

Keeping her emotions calm, Fan MeiLi stood and greeted Emily Xu in a friendly way. "Miss Xu, it's very nice to meet you again."

"You as well, miss Fan. I see you guys are not hiding your relationship anymore."

Letting out a cute laugh, "Well, as you see the news already knew about me. I just decided to let them have a little more information." Fan MeiLi said with a bright smile.

Emily Xu continued to smile all while clenching her fist in anger. She couldn't believe that such a great man like Li Wei was with a nobody like Fan MeiLi. She wanted to talk more but was stopped by Li Wei, "Emily, I'm sorry but I would like to take my girl to get a drink." He said taking Fan MeiLi and leading her to the bar.

Calmly walking toward the bar while ignoring the masses, both of them didn't notice the evil glare that formed in Emily Xu's eyes before putting back on her friendly mask. At the bar, "So what did you think of my family?" Li Wei asked handing Fan MeiLi a cocktail.

"To be honest, they look like very kind and welcoming people. They are so nice that it's hard to believe that you're related."

Li Wei looked at Fan MeiLi and gave her a rare smile when it happened many people around momentarily stopped talking.
