Chapter 5: The Folk Festival

Samantha Lykos' POV

I was staring at the counter as I was trying to keep my head out of a certain someone. He was the reason why I cannot concentrate right now. Damn him!

"Woah, what's wrong?" Karisa asked me as I was turning to look at her.

"Huh?"

"Your face, it's all gloomy and you're brooding. You never brood," she said as she was ordering the usual iced coffee that she liked. I don't know why but she did not order anything else at the cafe. I smiled at her.

"Nothing. I think it must be stress or something," I said as I was making her coffee.

"Or someone," Karisa snickered before I glared at her. She snapped her fingers at me.

"So, it is true. Sam the waitress has caught someone's eyes. I wonder who he is," she asked me as I was giving her the coffee. I sighed.

"Someone from my brother's circle," I said before Karisa's eyes sparkled. Why did I have to tell her everything?

"Oh, tell me more," she asked before I sighed. I shrugged as I went to take some order before I was making them. I don't have time to dwell on the matter. What was in the past was in the past. I cannot undo it now.

"Oh look! It's the leader today. I wonder where he was the other day for the delivery," Karisa said as I was trying to control myself from turning to look at the lumber delivery.

Because I know he would be there.

But of course, my resolve was not that strong and I did turn when he was staring at me. I caught my breath before he smirked. I can sense that he was trying to talk to me through the mind link. But I would not allow him.

He kept on pushing and last, I allowed him.

'What do you want, Zack? I thought we made it clear that…'

'That was only on your part. I don't say that I would let you go now, did I?' He said as I was rolling my eyes before I was turning to look at Karisa who was staring at Zack.

'Are you jealous?' He asked. I startled before I was dropping the tray that I brought. Karisa was surprised as well as other patrons. I apologized for my clumsiness before I was glaring at Zack. He smirked before he moved out of my sight but his mind was still linked to me.

'It seems that you are,'

'No, I'm not. I was clumsy that's all,'

'And do you always clumsy as you claimed, Samantha?' He said my full name and shivers ran through me. I was longing to hear him say that and when he did, I was never disappointed. His voice was soothing my wolf.

'Take him. Make him ours. Claim him,' my wolf purred and I heard another chuckle in my mind.

'If you let me, I would love to do so and much, much more,' Zack purred at me before I was building the wall in my mind to cut Zack off. I was breathing heavily before Karisa was looking at me.

"Why are you flustered?" She asked as I was touching my face. I don't know how to answer that but I just went to the kitchen to have some time alone before I can face anyone again. I don't think that my reaction to Zack would come between my rejection for him.

God, what is wrong with me?

I was breathing deeply behind the building before I saw someone was coming at me. I turned to look at it and it was none other my rejected mate with determination on his face.

Zack was making his way to me as I can smell the pine scent that was uniquely him and I think I wanted to get drown in it.

"So, you like to spend some time here alone? No wonder it was hard to find you," he said before he was leaning against the wall in front of me. He was smirking as he was crossing his hands over his chest before I was glaring at him.

"Don't be so angry to look at me. I was merely wanted to talk," he said as I was crossing my hands as well.

"About what exactly? You're not too busy to do other stuff?" I asked him before he was smiling at me.

"I was never too busy for you, sweet. If anything, I would drop everything to be with you and maybe have my wicked ways with you in this back alley. But I wanted it to be special because you only come ones in my life, Samantha," he said as my heart was pounding in my ears. How can he uttered such nonsense as smooth as he was looking over me, up and down?

"Stop staring, it's rude," I said as I was looking away before I was looking at my watch. I need to get back inside. If not, my boss would be mad.

"I have to go," I said as I was making my way to the door.

"Will you go to the Folk Festival this weekend?" He asked as I paused at the door. I glanced at him over my shoulder as I was arching my eyebrow.

"And why would I tell you if I was going or not?" I said before he smirked. He was nodding his head before he went out of the aisle.

Zack Adamos' POV

I cannot believe it. The Folk Festival was lively and much more happening than what I heard when Arthur described it to me. I think I might need to experience it myself so that I can be content with it.

I was walking around when I smell that strawberry scent again. It was not far from here and I think I might track her down and get some alone time with her.

'Mine,' my wolf purred.

I rolled my eyes at the thought of my wolf was having inside my head right now. Seriously, this guy needs to chill the fuck out.

'We have to claim her, tonight. Now,' it said as I was sighing before I was looking around the festival. I was gripping the iced coffee that I bought from a vendor and it was delicious. I wonder if Sam would love to have some coffee as well.

Then, I saw her around the bushes, talking with someone. I don't know who but it was a female. So I don't have any threat there until I saw him.

Sebastian, the man that helped me to come back to life. I was thankful but threatened as well.

I was gripping my cup before I was sipping on it. I was looking around before Sebastian was out of the way after he took a good look at Sam's friend. I felt like he was having some crisis as well with that human.

Huh, interesting.

I was making my way to Sam as she was left alone by her friend, the lady in red, as she went to explore the festival. She was one of the locals so she knew of the legend. And I hoped she did not wandered around in the woods in the dark.

"May I talk with you for a second?" I asked Sam as she turned to look at me as she was startled but I just smirked at her before I took her hand and we were out of here.
