Chapter 272 - Whatever Jie Says

Valerie and Talia were both surprised when they heard that Wayne had gone against his sister to side with this outsider.

Valerie had first-hand experience in being snubbed by that egotistic womanizer siding with Lina when they had met at LY's auction.

At that time, she had not known that Lina Yang was the woman in the mask who had accompanied Wade yet after the debutante ball, Valerie had put the pieces of the puzzle together.

'So that woman has a better place in his heart than me?' She sneered when she heard Jeanette's words.

One of the biggest advantages that Valerie had over Jeanette, her rival was that she could converse with Wayne without any problems.

While every time that Jeanette attempted to strike up a conversation, Wayne would flee as though he was avoiding the plague.

Yet now, that advantage had slipped from her hands as Wayne had not only taken Jeanette's side in the argument but also had carried her to the hospital.

'But who knows whether what she has said is the truth? Maybe she is lying to gain attention?' She speculated and wished with all her heart that this was the truth.

As that would mean that she was still above Jeanette and neither of them had gained the favor of the respective men that had caught their eye.

While Valerie was fretting about her social standing if Jeanette and Wayne's relationship was real, Talia was trying to gauge how this could be used against Lina.

She did not care whether this story that Jeanette was narrating was the truth or she was spinning a tale filled with lies.

All she cared about was the success of her plans to destroy Lina's image in their hearts.

Unlike the employees in Obsidia, these women had never come in contact with Lina on a personal level except for the day of the debutante party.

Therefore, the image in their minds could be manipulated much easier than the people who worked with her on a daily basis.

Thinking of the employees in Obsidia where Lina worked as a consultant, Talia turned towards her sister who was glaring at Jeanette Liang.

"Did you get any news from that lady in Obsidia?" She whispered into her little sister's ears.

The lady that Talia was referring to was the research analyst of the Marketing Department in Obsidia, Maxene Kang who was a crazy obsessed fan of Talia's Jewelry.

They had taken advantage of the love that Maxene had for Talia and her company to lure her into doing their biddings.

Now, Talia was curious about the outcome of their efforts to attack Lina's reputation from all directions.

Valerie sneered when she heard the inquiry from her Jie about the progress of the task that they had assigned that crazy groupie.

"She kept calling me while I was trying to converse with Mrs. Huo's friends so I switched my phone off." She muttered back in Talia's ears and then rolled her eyes.

However, the moment she was done rolling her eyes she pouted when she saw the annoyed and glaring look on Talia's face which was directed at her.

"Did I not promise to help you out if we succeed in this plan?" She scowled at her sister who did not have her priorities straight.

Valerie was confused when she heard this statement because she could not recall her sister promising to do so.

"You said that you would help me if I help you become the daughter-in-law of the Ming family." She generously corrected her sister who seemed to have gotten her facts wrong.

Talia blinked in silence for a few seconds at this annoying sister of hers and then scoffed at her simplemindedness.

"The success of this plan will lead the path for my future as the daughter-in-law of the Ming family." She educated her little sister who seemed utterly ignorant and naive at this moment.

True to what she had thought, Valerie took a few moments to understand the connection between those two statements and then nodded her head in admittance.

'Whatever Jie says is the right thing.' She believed and then decided to just follow everything she said in the future.

While Valerie was planning on never doubting her sister, Talia was thinking of the promise they had made to Maxene Kang.

"If you contact that woman later, let her know that we might need her to stay back in that company and give us insider information later on." She instructed and received a nod in response.

Though the sisters had promised to give Maxene a job after she completed her task of defaming Lina, they had never mentioned anything about when they would give her the said job.

Talia felt that her presence in that company could be used for something much more than simply defaming and discrediting Lina's name.

However, what they were unaware of was the fact that their pawn had already been escorted out of the building after her contract had been legally terminated in the presence of all the employees in the Marketing Department.

As Valerie had declined the call from Maxene, she was oblivious about the happenings in Obsidia and the loss of their pawn's job which they were planning to further exploit.

Now that Maxene had lost her value, would the Zheng sisters keep true to their words and offer her a job in Talia's Jewelry?

Or would they discard her like a used shoe, this was something that no one knew about.

While the sisters were plotting on how to bring their plan to success, Mandy Rong was tired of watching people congratulate Jeanette on the beginning of her new journey with Wayne Luo.

She had been listening to the praises about how they looked great together and now all she wished to do was get home before he arrived to pick Jeanette up from the party.

'He was extremely rude the last time we had met. I do not want people to know that he is so cold towards me.' She decided and was thinking of ways on how to end this charade.

Stumbling upon the perfect topic to ease into the conversation, she held Jeanette's hand and smiled at her.

"I am sure that Big Brother Wayne decided to take your side in the argument because he is a levelheaded person." She complimented both her friend and her crush.

Then the smile on her face faded as a mild frown appeared in its place.
