Chapter 277 - Baby Boy

"Home or shall I take the lovely lady out for lunch?" Wayne polled while directing a charming smile at the woman who had just taken her seat next to him in his car.

Moira Huo rolled her eyes yet the soft blush on her cheeks was evidence of the fact that she had been flattered by his courteous behavior.

"Take me home, boy!" She giggled after ordering him to drive her to her destination.

Wayne nodded like the good boy that he was and started the car before driving out of the parking lot of the resort.

As the resort was at a secluded part of the city to give the patrons a calm and serene atmosphere, they would now have a long drive back to the city.

Wayne kept taking silent peeks at the lady next to him and was thinking of ways on how to strike a conversation with her while they were on the road.

"Have something to say?" Moira inquired when she felt his continual gazes which made her drowsy feelings flee.

She glanced at him from the corner of her eye and noticed the nod that he had given.

"Can you tell me about what had happened before I had arrived?" He posed the question that had been on his mind ever since he had set foot in that garden.

Moira nodded after hearing his inquiry and then rubbed her chin as she tried to recall what had happened.

"Hmm… First, we had the osmanthus cakes which were freshly made. Then they served us three different types of teas…" She began narrating everything that had happened after she arrived at the tea party.

Wayne almost choked when he heard the long list of snacks and treats that this lady had started mentioning.

He would have accommodated her if this was some other day and if he had the time for it but today was not the day when he was willing to hear this nonsense.

"Haha, Mrs. Huo is so funny but I was asking about the matter regarding Miss Liang and my sister." He reiterated his words to not confuse the woman once again.

Moira made an 'O' face as she chuckled at the mistake that she had made in understanding what he was talking about.

She was then quick to move to the part where the incident which had resulted in the death of the tea party.

After Moira's revelation that she would be the luckiest woman alive if she had Lina as her daughter-in-law, all hell broke loose.

The women began trying to convince her that any woman would be fine but a woman who would intentionally harm someone as sweet and innocent as Jeanette Liang did not deserve to become a part of their family.

Moira stayed silent as these women began trying to change her mind.

Once they had tired themselves out, she glanced at all of them and then turned towards Jeanette and Mandy, the main reason why these women had turned against Lina.

"I would rather trust in the words of my son who has always spoken in favor of Miss Yang than in two women who had no proof of their absurd theories." She scoffed as her eyes were fixed on Mandy Rong.

While Jeanette had only one incident of connecting Lina's image to that of a horrible person, Mandy had been the one to give them excerpts from her day to day life.

She made sure to portray Lina in the light of the evil sister who did everything she could to put Mandy down at every turn.

Her suspecting words made these women shake their heads in dismay.

"We are saying this for your sake so how can you be so adamant about not trusting Jeanette?" One of them stepped forward to speak up on behalf of everyone.

The women gave her an appreciative nod and then turned towards Mrs. Huo as they awaited her answer.

Moira sneered at the 'goodwill' that these women had offered and then looked into the eyes of the woman who had stepped forward.

"Thank you for your concern but I think I know who to believe in." She said her piece and then pulled her phone out of her purse.

Though none of the people present here could notice what she was doing with her phone, her best friends who stood behind her got the perfect view of the screen.

{Baby boy}

The name attached to the number that had been dialed flashed on the screen before Moira pressed a few buttons.

Soon everyone could hear the ringing of the phone coming from the speakers in Moira's latest smartphone.

"Yes, Mother?" A smooth and charming voice was heard from the speakers which belonged to the person who had just answered the call.

Valerie's eyes glittered with excitement and love appearing in them when she heard the voice that she would hear so often in her dreams.

'Brother Louis!' She exclaimed in her heart and wished to move forward but her sister had yet to let go of the tight hold on her hand.

She gave up on trying to escape the grip of her elder sister and focused her attention on the man whose voice could make her melt at any time and place.

"Baby, what do you think of Miss Yang?" Moira's question made Valerie frown as she gritted her teeth.

"Junior Yang? Why?" The suspicious voice of her son made her chuckle.

Moira shook her head at this cautious behavior of his and decided to ease his worries.

"I am not going to ask for her hand in marriage. All I need to know is whether she is a decent person or someone who would intentionally hurt people she disliked?" She came straight to the point.

Though she had started her sentence in a jovial manner she soon got serious at the end of her words.

A brief silence was heard over the phone after which they heard the voice of the only heir of the Huo family.

"My Junior sister would never hurt anyone intentionally. I have known her for years and have never seen her behaving in a brash manner with anyone so I doubt that she would do something like that." He uttered each word in a composed manner.

The women were focusing their attention on this man who was known for his impeccable behavior and golden standards.

Then they turned towards Jeanette who had the impression of an angel who could never sin in their eyes.

Their dilemma on who to trust was once again heightened when they heard what Louis Huo had to say next.

"Though she might have a sharp tongue but that is also a cute trait of hers." He chuckled which sounded so clear and pristine, making these women smile.

"However, she would never harm anyone and I can say that without hesitation. I also have no reason to stand up for her so it doesn't matter whether people believe me or not." He concluded his part and then stayed silent.

Moira rolled her eyes at this sharp son of hers who had figured out that there were people around her.

"If there is nothing else then I would have to end this call, Mother." He informed and hung up when he heard Moira's hum in response.
