Chapter 6

Man versus beast, Shin Jiao jumped directly towards the demon beast, the creature quickly turn around and faced him head on. As they neared each other, Shin Jiao felt fear slowly creeping inside of him, especially after seeing the razor sharp claws and fangs of the black wolf. But instead of running away he decided to fight. Gripping the stone knife tightly in right hand he set his target, the neck.

"Die!"

Shin Jiao slashed as hard as he can which causes a deep gash on the wolf's neck. But he felt some pain on his stomach which now has 3 slashes which tore his skin. Although the wound felt painful but it was not that deep. Shin Jiao now has 5 spheres in his dantian, so his skin is now tougher than before.

The wolf slowly stood up as blood not gushed out of the deep gash on its neck. As if in berserk, with red eyes it bared its fangs towards the despicable human in front of it.Then it mustered all it strength and throw it self to Shin Jiao while brandishing its claws.

"Argh… Why don't you just die!!!"

As they clashes once again he skillfully stabbed the dagger directly underneath its jaws and it pierce the dark wolf's head. Seeing that the creature should have died with that fatal strike Shin Jiao heave a sigh of relief. But still he still winch because of pain, he looked at the creature which is lying on the ground twitching it leg every now and then as its life slowly ebbs away. Not long the creature has already died, so he bend down and check it. Then he carry it as he enters the mansion in a blink of an eye.

Inside the mansion, although Shin Jiao is still wounded he can see that his skin is already starting to heal. And then he decided to prepare the wolf's meat for a barbecue. After a while a nice smell of barbecued meat which permeated the air. Because of the intense fight he just had his hunger came over him and he gobbled the meat with gusto and without any worries.

But suddenly he there is something different, this demon beast meat has more energy concentration than the ferocious clawed rabbit. Then as expected he felt his body heat up and his dantian being bombarded with a more powerful raw energy. Feeling the danger and the pain all over his body again he quickly sat down and absorbed the energy in his dantian. Albeit he absorbed a substantial amount of energy and started to form his sixth sphere, his body is still suffering the brunt and had cracked all over, some of his veins even popped because of the pressure and blood is gushing out.

Gritting his teeth Shin Jiao persevered through this ordeal because he knows that if he stop his life would be in danger and his body will explode.

"Ahhh…" Shin Jiao shouted as he bore the pain in his body.

As time went by, Shin Jiao finally absorbed all the raw energy, now inside his dantian lays 7 spheres. Though his whole body is riddled with wound but he still felt his strength has increased by leaps and bound. Then to his surprise the regeneration of the wounds in his body both internal and external immediately began at a rapid pace. After a couple of hours his body had already recover.

"Whew, I need to be careful next time. I won't be so lucky every time I carelessly eat demon beast meat." Shin Jiao muttered while shaking his head.

"Well let's see, I still have a lot of meat here, let's just set them aside for later. I need to finish learning the basics of crafting." He walked towards the tree and pick up the jade slip with an inscription 'basic artifact enchantment'.

"Hmmm… this could be interesting" he said as he slowly put the jade in his forehead and inject his energy into it.

Then with flash his consciousness was filled with loads of information. But this time he was shocked because the basic artifact enchantment method is more profound than basic artifact crafting. As he absorb the information greedily, Shin Jiao realized that the runes and glyphs used for enchanting an artifact are like programming codes. Then he started to deduced and combined it with his old knowledge and formed his own new patterns. As time went by he finished absorbing all the remaining 10 jade slips. Although it took him more time to absorb it than the first 10 jades, but still he finished them all.

"So this is the basics of artifact crafting, very interesting… I see now why the old man considered this as something even immortals will fight over. These artifact can boost one's battle prowess many times over. "

Over all he learned 5 skills in those 20 jade slips, they are: artifact crafting, upgrading, enhancement, enchantment, and analysis. The first ten jades contains the first three and the remaining ten contained the last two skills.

"Now that I've learned all the skills, what next?"

While he was planning of his next move, he saw the jade slips which are lying on the ground slowly floats in the air and was drawn toward the tree. Then they disappear as each jade slip entered the tree like a ghost passing through a solid object. After a few seconds there appear 5 new red jade slips, each one has the 5 skills inscription but the word 'intermediate' are written under each skill type. Seeing this Shin Jiao's excitement went through the roof and quickly grab a jade slip.

Doing the same thing, he tried to inject his energy into the jade slip. But something happened, it rejected the energy and had no other reactions whatsoever. Then in his mind another information appear, he needs to get to at least fifty spheres before he can learn the contents of the 5 red jade slips.

"Aw, really? I guess I have to make do with the basics first and be familiar with it."

Shin Jiao dejectedly said.

"Let's start crafting then, he, he, he"

"But before that I need to get some good materials, the more the better."

So with that he planned his next steps. First he needed to make something which he can use to make blueprints. Since paper is not available, he optioned out to use the next best thing, demon beast skin. For writing he only need to use his energy which is better than ink. So after planning out, he went to work and prepared everything, taking the demon wolf and ferocious rabbit skin and processed them. After some time everything was ready, and he drafted his first blueprint, a sword.

Shin Jiao likes to watch anime in his old life and he found the Japanese sword katana very interesting so he made it to be his first weapon. After making the blueprint he decided what kind of materials he will use and after writing them down, he prepared himself to go out and find them.

"I guess I must make some makeshift weapon first… Let's use rocks and trees for that."

Then with a plan he went out with a grin.
