Chapter 7 The Void stone

Chapter 7

The deep forest is like a maze fraught with danger, every turn and every nook may contain demon beast of different sizes. But in this dangerous place a shadow can be seen dashing silently through the woods holding something that looks like a great sword made of stone. Following behind him is a group of 5 hungry demon wolves which bared their fangs ready to tear the human apart. Shin Jiao ran forward composed, in his mind fighting styles and techniques flow through as he plan to take the wolves one by one while on the run.

"This is the best course of action, I can take them head on for now. My strength is still too weak."

It was just coincidence when Shin Jiao was discovered by the pack of wolves. After making the great stone sword in the mansion space, he wanted to make a scabbard to hold it on his back. He decided to craft it from some tree barks, then as he was cutting a tree branch he notice the wolves about 200 meters away from him in a hunting formation. He tried to hide but they already got a whiff of his scent and was actually approaching his direction, and there began the chase.

"Alright, this would be a good chance to train some of the skills in my mind. Let's start with you ugly…"

As one of the wolves neared him, he suddenly made a slashing motion while turning around. Because of the sudden move from the human the wolf nearer to him didn't even made a sound as its head was cut off clean. Although the sword is made of stone, Shin Jiao made sure that it has a very sharp edge. The wolf's body fell to the ground tumbling following its momentum and its blood splashing all over.

Without stopping he move on to his second target which quickly pounced at him, but the second demon wolf was cut in half following the sword's path. Then Shin Jiao ran for a couple of steps forward again and did the same technique and put down the rest of the wolves.

Though he killed all the wolves he was not spared from injury, some claw marks can be seen in his arm and some on his legs, albeit he is in a bit of pain but the wounds are not deep. Looking at his bloody figure he again heave a sigh of relief.

After sometime the wounds disappear.

"The ability of the spheres to heal wounds are amazing. I feel like I'm the mutant claw guy from the movie in my previous life. Ha ha"

Thinking of what to do next, he realize something very important and face palmed.

"The cores! Geez, how stupid can I get…"

"Why did I forgot about that? Every demon beast have a core. I guess my excitement gets the best of me huh…"

Then he dragged all the demon wolves' carcasses inside the mansion. And with a stone knife he started dismantling them.

Inside the mansion after finishing, Shin Jiao wiped the bloody stone knife and checked the cores he had gathered.

"Hmm… All these cores have low energy, maybe I can try to absorb them and see what happened."

He said while looking at the small red cores.

"I got a total of 11 cores from all the demon beast that I hunted so far, let's start with this little one"

He picked up the smallest core and held it in his hand and started absorbing the energy within it.

After absorbing the core it turned black and started to have cracks on it.

"I guess the energy inside these stones are not enough, I need to find more demon beast or a higher level demon beast to improve my strength"

With a dejected look he went through the remaining materials.

"I can use these bones, but I don't like making something out of bones… That's a little creepy for me."

"I think it's time for me to find a good ore."

Then he quickly moved outside the mansion with a thought.

Three days have passed since then and the number of sphere in his dantian becomes 8, with the boost in his strength lower level demon beasts are not his opponent anymore. He continued hunting for demon beast as he widen the scope of his search and collection of ores.

In the afternoon of the fourth day, Shin Jiao came to a wide valley which is divided by a small river. While walking along the river hunting for food, he found a cave with a narrow entrance just enough for a single person to pass through. It was a lucky coincidence because the cave should not have been visible no matter how you look at it, but as he was following a small rabbit trail he ended up finding the cave instead.

"This cave is a good place, maybe I can explore it first and see if I can make it my temporary hide out." He said while looking inside.

As he enters the cave he felt strange, it's like someone or something is watching him, making the hair on his back stand up. But he is confident that even if there is a powerful demon beast he can still scape using the mansion. So he mustered his courage and bravely continued to walk deeper.

Surprisingly the cave is not that dark at all, small stone lit the ceiling like tiny stars in a dark sky. With his heightened senses, it's enough for him to see inside. After a couple of minutes of walking he found something on the wall.

"Hmmm… this wall seems different. I can feel something within it"

He said while he tried to feel the wall. After some time he stopped, on his hand he can feel a strong resonance of energy.

"This… this is the place. I need to break this part of the wall."

Raising the stone knife he started to dig through it. It took him sometime before he can see a pitch black fist-size ore embedded on the wall. He remembered that to check the ore he has to resonate his energy to the ore using his fingers. So he dig again and not long after that he already removed the black stone.

"Okay let's identify this ore"

He starts to concentrate and guide the energy which quickly courses through his fingers. Then all of a sudden all 5 colors appear on each of his fingers which only mean one thing, according to the jade slips this ore is called the void stone.

Void stones are very rare stones that came from space and is highly sought by powerful beings on this planet because it contains strands of Dao. It also have a large amount of energy and a good material to make powerful artifacts. According to history whenever a void stone appears blood will surely drench the land.

"With this kind of material I think I can make a really strong sword"

Shin Jiao said with a big smile on his face.

"I really hit the jackpot this time. If I combine this with the other ores that I found I can now craft my first ever true weapon! "
