"I am trying to help because Asgarian might be related to my father. I'm guessing that you want to avenge your father as well and that is why you want to catch Asgarian, but what about him? Why is he so determined about this?" LeiLei asked as she kept her eyes on Hecathe's back.
Marvin also looked at Hecathe as he heard this question but he couldn't really straightaway answer the girl.
Why was Hecathe after Asgarian?
Marvin had asked the man this question before this and back then, Hecathe told him that it was because he wanted to complete the task that Alphius had assigned him. He wanted to avenge Alphius and that was supposedly the reason why he was so determined.
However, now that Marvin looked at the man's back and thought back to everything that had happened, he could no longer confidently say that the answer given by Hecathe was the truth.
Marvin would be a fool if he were not to see it. Hecathe treated this world as a game and he didn't care if he put himself or his teammates in danger for it.
Fear didn't rule him and such a man was certainly dangerous may he be on the opposite side of the fight or on the same side.
Marvin sighed as he shook his head in disbelief and answered the girl, "You can say that it's thrilling for him."
LeiLei turned to look at Marvin with a blank expression as she heard this, "Thrilling?"
Marvin nodded his head as he gulped.
LeiLei let out a small chuckle as she saw this confirmation, "Maybe you're right. Well, it's a good thing that he is helping us. If we were to fight against him then I bet, he'd be a real nuisance."
"..." Marvin was silent as he heard this and didn't dare give a response to that.
Could they really be sure that he was going to be on their side till the end?
He could assure that Hecathe would help catch Asgarian but what happens after that?
If the man doesn't return to his own world, what was he planning to do? Was he planning to keep being on their side or was he really planning something even bigger?
If a war was what he wanted, Marvin wasn't sure about the ending of this friendship that they had managed to create.
However, Marvin still wanted to preserve this friendship since it was the only one left with him after the death of the real Alphius.
Hecathe returned after handing over the collected mutant beads and the other two acted as if they hadn't been talking about anything important.
Hecathe didn't seem to have found anything wrong with their expression so he didn't bother asking them anything either.
The three were allowed to go outside the waiting room and entered the guildhall which was filled with drunk people like it had always been.
LeiLei pinched her nose as she felt a bit disgusted by the smell of alcohol and sweat mixed together to create a really unpleasant odor that was always present in the guildhall.
"This place never changes," LeiLei clicked her tongue as she commented and Hecathe nodded his head with a sigh as he agreed with the girl.
Marvin grabbed a half-filled glass of wine from the table that was beside them and took a sip as he spoke, "Maybe it's because people don't want it to change."
Hecathe glanced back at the boy with a small smile as he heard this but he said nothing more about it.
They headed out the guild and as soon as they were out, Hecathe immediately turned around and looked at LeiLei as he spoke, "LeiLei, I want you to go and find your old house."
"Eh...?" The girl was a bit taken back as her eyes widened slightly and she looked at the man in surprise and confusion.
"You must remember where you used to live, don't you?" Hecathe asked as he looked at the girl but without waiting for a response from her, he continued, "You were eleven years old when your father died. That's what you told us, right? If you were that old then you must have been able to recognize where you used to live, don't you?"
LeiLei gulped as she heard this but after a minute of pondering over it, she nodded her head as she confirmed this.
"If you remember it then you must find it as soon as you can. If you want to find your father's killer then you must find out what happened," Hecathe spoke seriously as he looked at the girl, "If you used to live in Ocasia then there is a high chance that you would be able to find your old house."
LeiLei had a small frown on her face as she heard this and the girl looked a bit saddened as she pointed out, "It would be of no use. My house was already sold after my parent's death. Haven't you paid attention to my story? I was abandoned like a lost puppy after my parent's death."
Hecathe sighed as he nodded his head, "That may be true but Ocasia is a city that doesn't change much. There aren't a lot of local people around and finding information here is a bit too easy. As long as you can find the house, we can figure out your identity. How you are related to Asgarian and who your father was, it can all be slowly uncovered."
LeiLei gulped as she heard this but in the end, the girl could only nod as she agreed to the man, "I'll try my best."
Hecathe pursed his lips into a small satisfied smile as he heard this and immediately turned to look at Marvin.
"You'll help her, okay?" Hecathe asked the boy and Marvin nodded his head as he agreed to it without having anything more to say.
"Within a week, we must find the truth and we must collect as much evidence as we can," Hecathe spoke and it almost looked as if the man was ordering this out, expecting the other two to do as said.
"And what are you going to do?" Marvin asked as he tilted his head ever so slightly and looked at Hecathe.
Hecathe smiled as he spoke, "I'm going to get the stage ready. If the stage is not ready, how can we have a big play for everyone to enjoy?"
Marvin frowned as he heard this but didn't dare question it.
Marvin could clearly see that this was not Alphius that was standing in front of him. It was just another man who was inside Alphius's body, however, for some unknown reason, Marvin still wanted to believe this man called Hecathe as much as Alphius and if not, then much more.
Maybe, his mind had already accepted Hecathe as a friend and he no longer wanted to repeat the same mistake again. He wanted to trust this friend of his and not let him end up like Alphius.
"Alright then," Hecathe spoke as he sighed in relief, "We'll meet back in the apartment and tell each other the progress of the mission. We need to work fast now. We have kept Asgarian waiting till now, it would be rude to make him wait any further."
'Asgarian would surely not mind waiting for his delayed death,' Marvin thought in his mind but it was only natural that the boy didn't voice out his thoughts.
LeiLei and Marvin nodded in unison before the three parted ways and while Marvin and LeiLei went together to look for the old house, Hecathe went alone and found an unknown deserted place for himself.
Hecathe wanted to find LeiLei's relationship with Asgarian and he also wanted to collect information on her past, however, this was not the reason why he had sent the two away this time.
He sent them away because he wanted to be alone while he carried out the next step of the plan.
Hecathe lifted his wrist and turned on the QMS as he contacted Xanie.
It had been quite some time since he had contacted the girl and this was simply because he didn't want to trouble her much, however, this time, he needed her help, and hence, he needed to contact her as soon as possible.
"Xanie, I need your help," Hecathe sent a clear message and waited a few minutes for the girl to respond.
"Sir, are you okay?" Xanie's voice came through and Hecathe sighed in relief.
"I'm doing fine. How are things on your side?" Hecathe asked as his eyebrows creased together with a bit of worry.
"Nothing much is different. They have managed to catch a lead and are heading out to Zeblor. This might cause a fight but it shouldn't affect you as long as you're not in Zeblor."
Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this.
As expected, the mecha-suits had taken the bait and were now headed to Zeblor. This was perfect for Hecathe.
"That's good to hear. Now, Xanie, I want you to listen closely to what I have to say.. This is important," Hecathe gulped as he spoke with a serious tone.
