208 Chapter 208: It’s A Strange But Good Feeling

Nathalia rolled her eyes and interrupted a bit impatiently, "But is there anyone that truly loves you? There are always ways to make money, but true love can't be bought and or begged. Anyway, I guess when one doesn't have love, one can at least have money."

She never followed celebrities, nor did she listen to those so-called experts or consultants. She believed in herself, in her gut feelings.

Typically, people choose to pursue a worldly life. Everyone loves differently, and all have their own choices. As long as one doesn't hurt others, it's alright. Nathalia thought.

Wendy gazed at Nathalia for a little while. "You are really odd, but I don't dislike you, surprisingly..." Actually, I quite like you. What's wrong with me? Wendy was surprised by herself. She means what she says, and what she says makes sense. It's true. We are looking for more and more money because we don't have love.

Not everyone loved vanity and fame. Sometimes, it was a choice they were forced to make, especially for someone like Wendy herself, who spent the most time in the limelight, when everything they did, whatever they said, would be amplified by the media, the public.

She had to wear different masks on various occasions every day, and at the end, who was to tell which was real and which was fake?

It was all about looks, deceits, gossips. The so-called friends were, in fact, enemies, someone not to be trusted. Wendy suddenly realized that it had been a long time since she could talk to someone so openly and feel relaxed.

It's a strange but good feeling.

Nathalia didn't really mind Wendy either. As long as Wendy didn't bother her and Spencer, she was cool with her.

"I don't have a dollar sign on me. It's impossible that I can please everyone and make everyone like me. Love is too short for that anyway. Why not live it real and love truly?"

Wendy listened attentively, then a sly smile appeared on her face. "Be honest, doesn't it bother you at all that Spencer dated me before?"

No wonder Wendy had got a lot of pursuers, with her foxy look and flirtatious manners. Nathalia thought.

Nathalia replied with a calm smile, which took Wendy by surprise, "You were once a small part in a short phase of his life. That was in the past, which I don't want to and can't interfere with. What matters is that I'm in his presence, his future." She said confidently.

"I think now I understand why Spencer loves you," Wendy said plainly, thinking she's so natural and confident. She's real and sincere. Who wouldn't like a girl like her?

"Why?" Nathalia was rather curious. She did mean what she said, that she didn't care about the past. It was unnecessary. She cared only about now and the future, though she would use Spencer's past to 'threaten' him cheekily now and then as she rather enjoyed seeing him getting nervous about it.

"I won't tell you." Wendy was a bit jealous of Nathalia's innocence.

"Huh. Whatever." Nathalia threw her a cheeky look.

When Spencer returned with Steve, he was surprised to see the two girls chatting and laughing like two good old friends. "What are you two talking about?" He asked a bit anxiously.

"We are talking about you," Nathalia answered casually. She noticed that Steve's hair was wet, and water was dripping down. Spencer had to pour water on his head to sober him up a bit.

"Me? What about?" Spencer grew more anxious.

Wendy winked at him as she said, "I was telling Nathalia about your wonderful relationships with numerous women..."

On hearing so, Spencer sat down next to Nathalia and grabbed her hand immediately, "Hey, hey, babe, listen, everyone's had their past. I was young and stupid then. You've promised me that you won't talk about the past anymore, remember? A promise is a promise." He sounded almost like pleading.

He was nothing like the normal Spencer that people perceived. With not a tiny bit of his usual authoritative air, he was simply a poor guy pleading his girlfriend for forgiveness.

Wendy watched Spencer and suddenly felt a sense of relief. Ha, finally, the untamable Mr. Playboy has been tamed.

"You seem very anxious, Mr. Spencer Davidson. Why? Hahaha, at the end of the day, you are just another normal guy, aren't you?" Wendy teased.

Nathalia tried to pull her hand out of his, but again Spencer grabbed it tighter anxiously. "I am. With the girl I love, I'm just another normal man, but a man who adores her, who shares her joy and pain, through thick and thin. Nathalia, please, let's forget about the past. I love you and you only."

Nathalia was only teasing him, playing along with Wendy, but also thought it was a good idea to teach him a lesson and not to repeat the same mistakes in the future. She kept her lips pouted, but this time she let him hold her hand.

Sensing that Nathalia was giving in, Spencer grinned, but before he was about to say something, Wendy cut in, "Aha, I didn't know that Mr. Spencer Davidson knows how to sweet talk too! But, Nathalia, I have to remind you that men's sweet talks are not to be trusted..."

"Steve, take her out of here." Spencer snapped. Steve obeyed without protest. Wendy was cooperative too.

"Hahaha. No problem. Nathalia, let's go for a coffee or something soon. See ya." Wendy waved goodbye with a bright smile.

"Sure," Nathalia replied casually, just like an old friend.

It puzzled Spencer. "When did you two become friends?" This is not normal. Wendy Allen is my ex. She and Nathalia were supposed to dislike each other, at least if not fight with each other. I trust Nathalia in choosing friends. She's not someone that would pretend to be friends with someone just to be polite. What happened?

"Why? Just now. Well, men become friends while going out for girls while we girls talk to become friends..." Nathalia said cheekily.

Spencer had his hands up in a surrendering pose and begged one more time, "Nathalia, my princess. I regret what I did before I met you, and I apologize. I can't change my past, but I can promise you I will not make the same mistake again." He said sincerely.

Nathalia couldn't help giggling this time. "Alright, alright. We were just talking about girl stuff. Why are you so worried?" She said light-heartedly and scooped a spoonful of chocolate cake in her mouth. Yum yum.

"You tricked me," Spencer said resignedly as he snatched the spoon off Nathalia and treated himself a delicious bite of cake.

"I did. Am I not allowed to?" Nathalia lifted her chin up and retorted playfully.

Seeing her cute cheeky face, Spencer couldn't help giving it a little stroke. "Yes. Yes. Of course, you are allowed, my princess. Shall we go to the cinema?"

"We shall," Nathalia replied cheerfully.

The two looked into each other's eyes, and both smiled constantly.
