260 Chapter 260: Fake And Pretentious

Spencer embraced them, as well as the pain in his heart. He could feel hatred growing from the bottom of his heart.

Matt and Amy barely talked while Matt was driving her home.

"Here. Good night." The car stopped outside Berry's house. Matt didn't intend to open the door for Amy.

Amy pouted her lips and said, "Would you like to come in for a tea? It's not too late. My parents should still be awake."

Though they were supposed to get married soon, Matt had been very distant. They had hardly spent time together alone. Amy did want to get close to him, but Matt never provided the chance.

"Another time. I've still got some work to finish. I need to head back to the office." Matt said plainly, without even taking a look at Amy. He sounded almost like a stranger and definitely not a husband-to-be.

Amy couldn't stand it anymore, and she snapped, "What is it that you are so busy with?! Are you going to be like this after we get married? Just bury yourself in work?" Marriage is between two people. I can't make it work on my own if he doesn't cooperate!

She thought that she could change him, that she could make him love her, but it turned out that she was too naïve.

"If you don't want to get married anymore, you don't have to. It's completely up to you. I've told you before that I don't love you." Matt said indifferently.

Amy insisted on staying with Matt even though he told her how he felt about her. She insisted on marrying him and hoping to change him. She asked for it.

"Don't you know how much I love you? I thought I could change you. You are so cold-hearted. You're hurting me." Amy was so frustrated and angry that she was in tears.

A sneer appeared on Matt's face. "What for? You don't need to pretend. We both know clearly that there's no love. It's just for family interests." There's no real love. Fake and pretentious.

Amy wouldn't give in. She exclaimed emotionally, "But I love you!"

"Love? Ha." Matt sneered. "What is love?"

"Why can't you be like Spencer?! Didn't you see how good he is to Nathalia? The way he treats her. I wish you could learn from him and treat me better." Enraged and frustrated, Amy shouted at Matt. She was madly jealous, seeing how much Spencer cared about and loved Nathalia. Why can't I have the same? Why can she be loved but not me?!

It stabbed Matt's heart like a sharp knife. "Why don't you go to him then?! Get out of the car." He said icily as he leaned over, opened the door, and pushed her out.

He's so cold and so reserved. He shows no emotions, like a perfect robot!

"What's the point in talking about love? Useless. If you want to love it, I can't give it to you. Whether you want to get married or not, it's up to you. Good night." He shut the door, stepped on the gas, and drove away. Amy was so angry that she stomped her feet and shouted, "Asshole! Matt! You will regret it!"

On Curt's fiftieth birthday, guests of people of great importance gathered around, including international superstars, political leaders, business tycoons, heirs to family fortunes, tech gurus, actors, online celebrities. No doubt, the Davidson had great influence internationally.

The party was held in one of the Davidson-owned five-star hotels. Some guests had arrived the night before and checked in the hotel. Journalists from all over the world gathered even earlier, awaiting chances for interviews and photoshoots.

It was probably one of the greatest parties ever and definitely a rare chance to see so many famous figures from different trades at the same time.

A long red carpet covered the whole street leading to the gate of the hotel. Thousands of fans, journalists gathered outside the hotel. Hundreds of security guards were hired to keep order.

As the guests gradually showed up, the crowd exclaimed excitedly.

"Isn't that Kelly Smith? My god. She looks fabulous!" Kelly Smith was one of the most popular actresses, the favorite of many famous directors. It was said that she was rather distant and didn't talk much.

"Look, it's David, the NBA basketball player. He plays center-forward in Miami Heat, doesn't he?"

"My God! Yes! It's him."

"And that's the world's richest guy, Jack Meyer. My god. I'm so overwhelmed."

"Look, is that the president of Italy?"

"Yes. You are right, and that's our Florida state conference president."

Exclamations of surprises and shocks echoed in the crowd. Surprisingly the last person that showed up on the red carpet was Curt himself, dressed in an expensive tailor-made suit, guarded by ten tough-looking bodyguards. With his usual air of authority and elegance, he moved up the carpet as if he was walking in his own kingdom.

Cameras fought to snap the best shots of Curt.

"Here comes Mr. Curt Davidson!"

"Happy birthday to you, Mr. Davidson!"

"Many happy returns!"

"Happy birthday! What a grand party!"

The crowd exclaimed. One had to agree that Curt, now in his fifties, was still the man in many women's dreams and the idol of many men.

"Thank you kindly. Thank you." Curt was looking radiant. One could hardly tell he was already fifty years old. His charm was very well kept. As soon as he appeared, he had all the attention from everyone. No wonder numerous women dreamed of being with him, even just for a one-night stand.
