262 Chapter 262: They Don’t Know To Appreciate I

The crowd grew even more jealous of her. Most men would think of her as the best kind of partner, elegant, gentle, kind, humble, responsible, and loving mother, and tolerant of her husband. The women were envious of her fortune, fame, her having a successful husband, an excellent son, and a wonderful daughter-in-law. What a perfect life!

Spencer led Mrs. Davidson and Nathalia forward and stopped in front of Curt. "Happy birthday, dad. We just arrived with mum." Spencer said quietly.

Mrs. Davidson looked at Curt for a while as if she was trying hard to carve the image of him now in her head.

Nathalia felt a sudden sense of sadness grab her heart. Curt had invited people from all over the world, yet he didn't even say a word to his wife as if she didn't exist. Nathalia couldn't understand it. How can he be so cruel and cold to his wife? What is he thinking? What's happened between them? I wonder how mum feels. She must be really frustrated and confused.

Though Mrs. Davidson tried to make it look like it didn't matter, Nathalia and Spencer had noticed the tiredness in her eyes in the past weeks. And this morning, she looked abnormally cheerful, spending hours dressing up. Spencer and Nathalia were so surprised.

Curt glanced at his wife causally, extended his arm as a gesture to take her hand, and said calmly, "Shall we go in?"

Shouldn't he at least say something nice? Can't he tell that mum has dressed up for him? Nathalia thought disappointedly. Huh. Men are useless despite however much money he's got, however successful he is if he doesn't love you.

Mrs. Davidson put her arm in his gracefully with a smile. "Honey, you look older than I remember. You need to look after yourself better." She whispered gently. Her voice was so low that it was only audible to Curt, who was rather taken aback and stared at her, "I..."

"Can we take a photo of you all, please?" A journalist asked politely. It was possibly the very first time one could see the whole Davidson family together.

Spencer took Nathalia aside and waved his hand to the journalist, saying, "Why don't you take a photo of my parents first?"

Arm in arm, both smiled. The light flashed. It was a beautiful photo of a beautiful couple.

When the journalist was about to take more photos, Spencer took Nathalia's hand and one arm in his mother's and said, "Shall we go inside? It's a bit chilly for Nathalia."

Nathalia shivered slightly and said, "It gets a bit chilly at night now." As they turned around to leave the crowd behind, others followed. Curt took a look at Spencer and realized what he was plotting.

There were cheers, laughter, people chatting joyfully, and a band playing cheerfully at the hall. Everyone dressed in their best. As soon as Curt and his wife entered the hall, there was an apparent commotion. However, they managed to hide it well, and instead of showing surprise, they came up to Curt to wish him happy birthday courteously.

Curt all smiled. He walked around the crowd, arm in arm with his wife, and conversed with the guests confidently. Mrs. Davidson had received much praise and compliment from the guests, especially the gentlemen, and she responded with the perfect elegance and humbleness while the whole time she allowed her husband to take the lead and watched him quietly, only speaking when necessary.

Nathalia had been observing Mrs. Davidson and found it rather odd. She tapped Spencer's hand and whispered to his ear, "Mum's behaving a bit strange tonight, don't you think?" She couldn't really tell what it was. It was just her sixth sense. She could sense the difference.

On hearing so, Spencer took a closer look at his mother and said, rather casually, "Is she? She is pleased, for sure. This is probably the first time she's ever been in public with dad," He paused. "and it's something that she's always wanted." He looked upset as he continued. He couldn't understand how things had turned out this way. With what had happened between his parents, he couldn't do anything about it. The wall between them didn't just appear in one day.

Nathalia knitted her brows, looking at the couple that seemed to be perfect to those that didn't know, thinking about what Mrs. Davidson had been through, and she said with frustration, "Dad is cruel. Why doesn't he know to treasure the one that truly loves him?" If he doesn't love mum, why did he marry her? And why has he never been good to her now that they are married? It's probably the cruelest thing to do to a woman, to marry her, and never love her.

Spencer felt s sudden pain poke his heart. "Some people were born with everything they need and only know to take things for granted."

Men are evil. They want what they can't get, and with what is too easy to get, they don't know to appreciate it.

Nathalia sensed the change in Spencer's tone, and to cheer him up, she said cheekily, "Don't you be like your dad, or I will. Hmmm. I will punish you."

She took a glance at Matt, who was standing next to Curt. Matt was rather quiet but knew when to voice himself, and no one could not notice him. If Spencer is like the sun of the day, then Matt is like the moon of the night. They both shine and are both excellent, but at the same time, it means they are not supposed to appear at the same time.

Spencer squeezed Nathalia's hand, noticing her looking at Matt. Nathalia turned to look at Spencer and grinned at him cheekily.

"If you punish me on the bed, then I'm more than happy to be punished," Spencer whispered in her ear. His breathing stroking her sensitive ear gently, Nathalia blushed. She threw a bashful look at Spencer, which sent his heart beating fast.
