263 Chapter 263: Her Trick Of Begging Doesn’t Work

Like others, Vincent had heard how powerful the Davidsons were. Still, he had not expected to see so many political leaders, business tycoons, superstars, famous sportsmen gathering here to celebrate Curt's birthday.

He was now more determined to have his daughter marry into the Davidsons. Imagine having the support from the Davidsons! He thought excitedly.

Amy felt supported seeing her family and seeing her dad's excitement, she couldn't help imagining being part of the Davidson family soon and enjoying their fame and fortune.

Mrs. Berry was very pleased as well. She had thought about persuading her daughter out the idea of marrying Matt, thinking it would be too upsetting to marry a man who did not love her.

Now that she had seen how successful the Davidsons were, she changed her mind. Love is too trivial compared to such fame and power.

Standing next to her mother quietly, Kelly was gazing at Spencer. Even though he was a married man now, she wouldn't give him up. Perhaps he will change his mind one day. She thought. And she believed that Nathalia and Spencer wouldn't last. When they divorce, I will have my chance.

With the crowd watching, Curt responded politely. He raised his glass and had a sip.

Mrs. Berry thought she should take the chance and build a good relationship with Mrs. Davidson, so she advanced boldly.

"Mrs. Davidson, here's to you, the future mother-in-law of my daughter, Amy." She raised her glass with a smile respectfully, thinking she is the mistress of the family, and it won't go wrong to have her support. And if she doesn't accept Matt, then the world should see how narrow-minded and mean she is.

It was a clever move Mrs. Berry made, yet she had underestimated Mrs. Davidson.

Casually, Mrs. Davidson replied with a smile, "Amy? I don't know, Amy." Her smile looked so sincere, and she sounded so innocent that it shocked everyone completely.

Amy's cheeks turned red instantly. She stared at Mrs. Davidson in disbelief, embarrassed, and enraged.

The Berry family cursed silently. Mrs. Berry would have reacted angrily if there were not the crowd around. She took a deep breath and controlled her anger. "How come? She's been right next to you the whole time," she said with a smile, paused deliberately, and went on, "at your service."

Mrs. Davidson appeared surprised and took a good look at Amy as if she had only noticed her for the very first time. "I apologize. I have mistaken you as one of our maids. How awful I am." Mrs. Davidson said calmly and innocently.

The Berry family was furious. How arrogant she is!

Spencer was enraged. What the hell are these stupid people doing here? Don't they know better how to behave in public? He couldn't help stepping in.

"Mum, let's not waste our time on these nonsensical people. They don't worth it." He said loudly and clearly, guarding his mother behind him. Both his mum and wife were the two most important people in his life, and Spencer would not allow anyone to disrespect them.

People around heard Spencer's comment and turned to look at the Berry family with criticism. It

was a slap right on their face in front of the crowd, the Berry family thought, and all blushed in embarrassment.

Amy was so embarrassed that she was in tears. With so many people watching, she couldn't just stay quiet. How am I going to face them in the future if I just let him insult us like that? She thought.

She pouted her lips, tears running down her cheeks, and said as if pleading, "Spencer, why do you have to insult us so cruelly? Mum's just introducing me. She didn't mean anything, disrespectful. If I've done anything wrong, you can talk to me in person."

"You don't deserve my time, either your family." Spencer knitted his brows and said dismissively.

So proud, so daring. So Spencer Davidson.

A few people applauded and exclaimed aloud, "Well said, Mr. Spencer Davidson. She doesn't deserve it at all."

"Look how pretentious she is."

Amy was astonished to hear the reaction from the crowd. I've done nothing wrong! He's the one insulting me! She was sobbing now.

Nathalia rolled her eyes. She thinks she's the clever one, but she has no idea who she's dealing with. Her trick of begging for pity doesn't work here.

"This is dad's birthday party, not a funeral. Why are you crying like that?" Nathalia said casually. What a joke. She's too naïve to think that people will fall for her fake tears.

Nathalia's comment brought the attention of the crowd. She said it right. No wonder Curt said he was happy to have Nathalia as his daughter-in-law. A very elegant and smart girl.

By comparison, Amy Berry doesn't seem fitting to be a Davidson at all. I wonder what Curt's younger son, Matt, is thinking.

Amy looked terrified and shocked. She said to Matt helplessly, "Matt, they are insulting me, and it's disrespecting you..." Matt handed her some tissue and said quietly, "Enough, Amy. Dry your eyes. If you don't like my family, you can walk away whenever."

Matt had started to wonder if he had made the wrong decision. Is she, this brainless woman, going to be of any help at all? He doubted.

Amy's face went pale instantly. She quickly dried her tears and forced a smile on her face. "I'm sorry. I was too emotional. It's your birthday. I shouldn't be crying here." She said timidly to Curt.

Curt nodded and didn't say anything. No one could tell if he was annoyed or not. The Berry family apologized awkwardly, and when they thought that was the end of the drama, Mrs. Davidson, who had been rather quiet, spoke. "I don't understand why some people just suddenly showed up and claimed to be part of the family lately." She said and glanced at Amy and Matt disdainfully. "Anyway." She waved her hand, dismissively.
